We arrived by train from London and took a taxi to The Grand. LOvely welcome from staff and help getting out of the car and with luggage. No food nor drink on train - so had a sandwich and a glass of champagne on arrival (well we were there for a wedding!) After the wedding we had drinks on the lawn before the rain arrived. We then went into the wedding reception. The public rooms were beautifully decorated and the food and drink flowed until late into the night. A great experience.

The hotel is in a convenient position both to town and seafront. The public areas are well maintained and impressive. The front of house staff were friendly, polite and helpful. There was a wide choice of breakfast fare. Our room was a good size and the beds comfortable. The only negative points concerned the room - there was insufficient light at night to permit reading other than in bed or at the desk. Similarly the bathroom lighting was not helpful for shaving or applying makeup. On the second of our three night stay it was windy and the sash windows rattled continuously - the following morning we asked to have wedges put in place.

Just stopped here for a drink but had very good service and friendly staff. Very pleased with this and will be visiting again. From the bar area there are some wonderful views. The food looked good too so will probably get a lunch here next time.

I got married at the Grand Hotel on the 8th June, after 2 and a half years of planning! I firstly want to thank Melissa and Stella from the Wedding events team for ensuring that our day went smoothly from start to finish. Their planning and attention to detail was spot on.
Our day was amazing and that was mainly due to the staff. They were so attentive and helpful and their service was excellent.
In regards to the room we stayed in, we had a master suite on the night of the wedding and it was huge. I have never stayed in such an amazing room like that before. We are already planning to go back and stay for our one year anniversary next year!
We had the most incredible day and thats all thanks to the brilliant staff at the Grand Hotel. They made the happiest day of our life even more special by their attentiveness and fantastic service.

Having toured the South of England enjoying various hotels, mostly part of the Relais & Chateaux grouping, we ended our trip with a night in Eastbourne.

Where else to stay than The Grand which so much deserves its name. The simple fact of driving up to the front of such an imposing brilliant white palatial building puts you in the mood for restful luxury.

Perfectly situated, the hotel is just a few steps from the sea front, along which a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk take you rapidly down to the pier.

We stayed in a most comfortable suite, old fashioned chintz, warm and homely and opening up on to magnificent terrace. Well equipped with coffee and tea facilities, most comfortable bedding allowing an excellent night's sleep, a maybe not so modern bathroom but perfectly appropriate and nicely provided with Molton Brown products. And all impeccably clean. Maybe a drawback for some, the absence of a mini bar, but hardly a problem as room service is always available.

There is of course the possibility of enjoying an impressive bar with different and varied seating areas, an extensive choice of drinks and cocktails and a most professional staff.

To top your stay, an exceptional breakfast spread, buffet and table service, in the sprawling Garden Restaurant.

There is very little that one can say about the service apart from : Impeccable. From the warm greetings of the doormen and porters, as suitcases are spirited away and the car parked, to the most helpful reception staff, and the accompaniment to the room with explanations of services on the way, and from the evening turn down service to the bar staff and a special mention for the staff in the Garden Restaurant (opinion separate if interested).

Thank you for proving that perfection can still (nearly) be attained.

Excellent hotel, facilities and old Victorian feel. Wonderfully attentive staff with sumptuous old halls and common areas. A terrific choice for a special occasion and a special old time feel. Drawbacks? Parking limited if busy, earliest check-in 3pm, latest checkout 11am.

It was Fathers Day and while the Garden Room was busy everything was done with efficiency. 3 courses - lovely roast beef lunch carved at the table. The staff were excellent and our waiter was very attentive. Just lovely.

I have just got back from one nights stay at the hotel with friends. There were 8 of us in total so we had 4 twin deluxe rooms. There was an event on the seafront which meant the road was closed. We spoke with security on the road close and said we was staying in the hotel so they let us in. We was met by a friendly staff worker who found us a parking space and offered to help us with our luggage. We got there early but was able to leave our bags in the lobby which was later taken to our room.

We had full use of the spa which i couldn't fault. Along with the 8 of us staying, there were a further 5 who joined us in the spa. We paid for a lunch when we got there which we had in the spa. We had unlimited tea, coffee, water and juice along with a wife range of sandwiches, chips, crisps and coleslaw. And some fresh made chocolate chip cookies too. Food was tasty and staff were very attentive. We spent a few hours in the spa. The outside pool was lovely and warm. The whole surroundings were very clean and tidy. We were also given robes, towels and flip flops too which made it a real nice experience.

We then went and checked into our room. And the friends who were not staying were able to come to our rooms to get ready.

The room was so clean, tidy and spacious. We had tea, coffee biscuits and water in the room. And all the amenities such as shower gel, shampoo and conditioner etc. I could even see the sea from one of the small windows which was great. The room was very quiet with no noise from outside in the hallway.

We went out for dinner and the returned at night to find our room had been turned down. We had the tea and coffee items replaced along with a glass and bottle of water left at the side of the bed. I have never been to a place like this before so thought it was a lovely touch.

We had breakfast the following day which was great. We were offered tea, coffee and toast before we got to the table. Then there was the option of cereals, continental and cooked breakfast where we helped ourselves. If you wanted a different cooked egg to scrambled then you can ask and they also had other items like kippers and salmon.

I had such a lovely staff and the staff were absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much from them at all. I loved how the staff looked so presentable in their uniforms and were so friendly.

Beautiful hotel in good location. Outdoor pool is fabulous and so warm. Staff exceptional.

Ground floor areas all immaculate. Unfortunately some areas need refurbishment to be 5 star standard. I wanted to book a spa treatment but the area looked very tired so decided against it. Similarly wooden toilet seats and plastic shower curtains need updating to modern hygienic alternatives. Maybe the higher class rooms have better bathroom facilities for

Everything as expected for 5 star quality EXCEPT
a) bed mattresses are far too soft, uncomfortable, sank in the middle and not good for posture support. They feel old and need replacing; and
b) requested firmer pillows, one was o.k. but the other one too hard to use; and
c) although no complaint, the housekeeping service was not consistent every day as each day the chambermaid person attended to the room in a different way.

Everything we expected from previous visits. Would recommend to all. The outdoor swimming pool was warm and very clean, the room also clean and very comfortable. Staff just lovely. Restaurant had an excellent menu and wine list.

We had long planned to visit this immaculate, lovely old hotel for lunch and it did not disappoint. Very civilised in every respect and the elegant grandeur, polished service and superb cuisine are as though the Ritz has come to the seaside. We both opted for different fish options from the extensive menu (the fish cannot be fresher than at Eastbourne), and all the dishes were perfect. The place deserves to be much busier than we found it. Our only criticism would be that the background music was a bit too sombre. If you must have music at lunchtime, please make it cheerful. Highly recommended to all who appreciate a civilised lunch in elegant surroundings.

We booked through hotels.com which was offering a special deal. They showed 3 pictures for a Double Deluxe 2 showing a room with 3 large windows the 3rd just the bathroom. We of course ended up with the one showing the bathroom, the room only had one window and overlooked the air conditioning piping which hummed all night. However, the hotel is just wonderful and so are the staff so we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return, however will choose a different room.

We booked for a three-course lunch which was excellent. We arrived a early and relaxed in the lounge prior to going into the Garden Restaurant. Although we were there only for the set-price lunch from the a-la-carte menu, we were treated with such care and respect by every member of staff we encountered, from restaurant staff to cleaners, that you'd think we'd booked the penthouse suite for a month. The food was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. To marks to everybody!

Booked in to Room 216 (Sea view) for my husband's 70th birthday and we were upgraded to a Suite (No. 217). All the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner in the Garden Restaurant which was excellent. Will be back to stay.

the hotel and staff were very helpful and always willing to assist in any request
the room was perfect, but was let down because the beds were single and not double as requested
although we did not have time to enjoy the facility's at the hotel, we will be coming back when we have more time

Booked a one night stay with my partner as a treat. An absolutely perfect experience from start to finish. Exquisite service from every single staff member, immaculate facilities and the building itself is just divine. I had heard good things from a few people who had visited but it really did exceed all of our expectations. Will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommend.

I have made all my comments and answered the specific questions posed and I have no further suggestions, tips or guidelines to add. The various heads of departments will know from my personal conversations with them (and my gratuities) that I have been satisfied.

Stayed here for few nights with my husband. The room was pleasant, old fashioned (which is to be expected) but clean and Molton Brown products are always pleasant to see. My one criticism of the room is the paper thin , light curtains. We were up at 5 both mornings with beaming sun coming in. Second night we were offered to move but repacking, unpacking etc was a hassle we were not prepared to do, as we had one night left.
Note to Management- Room 240 needs a blind as well as a curtain.
We ate in the Garden restaurant and it was very nice, with excellent service.
Breakfast was perfect, delicious and a good selection.
The spa and outside pool were our biggest let downs. The indoor waiting area etc is extremely worn & dated and is desperate for modernization, the heavy carpet in the area looks dirty and not in keeping with a clean, fresh spa area. The outdoor pool area REALLY needs some attention, it looks like its been forgotten in time. There were lots of signage discoloured, dirty with green algae or moss. The pool cover holder needs a good scrub. The BBQ area is rundown, covered in cobwebs etc. The tiles and patio surrounding needs a powerwash and just a general clean up. The sunbeds need cushioned covers or replacing. It all needs a good clean, sweep and freshen up. I was quite surprised a Manager wouldnt have picked up on this and arranged cleaners, ground staff to rectify, as this is a five star hotel. Such a shame because the pool is warm and could be a wonderful addition to a holiday but not in the current state. My facial by Bebe, was amazing and and the hotel staff were all professional & helpful. My husband had a full body massage which he said was wonderful. Would love to return, when spa is revamped.

We booked 3 rooms for 6 friends on a walking break. The staff were very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The hotel was immaculate and luxurious but we found the bedroom windows rattled in the wind (so had to find something to stick in the gaps) and the blinds in the room were beautiful but let too much light in - otherwise the room was perfect. The spa and pool were very nice and open late which was really handy after a long day walking. Breakfast was good - I had a vegan cooked breakfast and they made sure that the dairy free milk & spread were already on our table the next morning (a very nice touch). Would love to stay again.

This was our second stay in the hotel and can only describe the stay as excellent backed up with the wonderful staff whereupon nothing was never too much of a problem when asked of them from there friendly greeting at the entrance door right through from reception, the bar staff, waitresses and up to the house maids.

And Whilst we didn't stay for lunch and dinner the best meal of the day Breakfast was excellent.

we have just spent the weekend at this fabulous hotel for our sons wedding which was held at the Grand, what a venue for a wedding and weekend stay, the hotel is very traditional with antique furniture and painting giving a great atmosphere. The staff were very polite and helpful and the breakfast had so much to offer either the buffet or from the menu cooked to order. on the morning of the wedding we were unsure how to do a Windsor knot for our sons tie, we called room service and a member of staff ( Gabor) came up to our room and did the ties for us, nothing was to much trouble. Thank you to all the staff for making our son & Daughter in laws wedding go so smoothly and a day to remember , Mr & Mrs Davis
