This might sound totally bonkers, but for me, the food isn’t the main reason why I visit The Grand. I visit this restaurant because it is like stepping back in time to an era when service was everything. It’s a fun place to eat, with service being a mixture of friendliness and formality in a grand setting. Food is uninspiring, and strangely heavy, but, as I have said, I don’t care. I have dined in The Mirabelle several times and the food is undoubtedly superior to that of The Garden, but I love The Garden’s dining room and the ambiance. My “average” rating is based upon the food alone. Service is excellent.

2 day stay for my wife's 60th birthday. Could not find fault with anything. All members of staff that we came into contact with were welcoming, helpful and courteous. Bar staff were particularly helpful.

The double bed was smaller than usual at just 5 feet and although we had a sea view the steam from having a bath in the afternoon actually steamed up the bedroom windows for a long time and recurred when wiped away due to inefficient bathroom ventilation so the sea view was wasted. This was meant to be a freshly refurbished.
The amount of milk and coffee in the room is simply insufficient to escape from feeling the hotel is being very mean. Room 231

We had an afternoon tea at the hotel recently and it was excellent. We were given a warm welcome at the door and all the staff were friendly and professional. There were generous portions of sandwiches with nice fillings, sausage rolls, scones with clotted cream, jam and cakes. As it was our wedding anniversary, we were also given two lovely chocolate cakes in addition. The hotel is a lovely setting and we felt very special as we were treated very well by all the staff.

Just ignore the bad reviews, really :) This was really one of the best stays I had in a long time. The hotel is very beautiful, rooms are big and it's extremely clean everywhere. But the best thing of all was the service, it is indeed a 5 star service. The staff is just amazing, so friendly and helpful, and not just one of them, all of them from the reception to the spa to the waiters, they are all very well trained and make you feel most welcome. The spa facilities are very clean at all times and enough to make you relax, the heated pool and jacuzzi are very nice, the steam room is sooo relaxing and there is a dry sauna as well. I really like some details that you only get in 5 starts hotels, like the tea and biscuits selection in the room is very good quality, the breakfast is really good with very good quality products (amazing butter for example), and they use Molton brown toiletries which I really loved because I usually have to bring my own products since most hotels have a not so good selection. We also had diner at the Mirabelle restaurant which was just perfect: perfect food, perfect atmosphere and perfect service. Unlike many reviews I read before booking, they are not snob AT ALL. So thank you very much for an amazing stay, I needed to rest as a new mum and I really did! Will definitely come back again :)

Can’t recommend this property highly enough. From arrival with your car spot reserved with your name, friendly staff to look after your luggage, efficient and friendly check in to marvellous comfortable accommodation, it set us up for a memorable two day stay. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the lobby again with attentive service and our evening meal and breakfasts were delicious and again served with highly efficient and attentive staff.

The hotel exudes charm and the genteel past which we very much appreciated. If ever in the area again we most definitely know where we will be staying

Very good but lack of entertainment apart from Saturday evening. Using SPA vouchers not coordinated between SPA and hotel's reception. Not many facilities on the swimming pool considering a price. Absolutely amazing hot stone massage!

We had a very enjoyable few days at the Grand. The service was first class...exactly what we would have expected at the Grand.. Breakfasts were great and our dinner in the Mirabelle Restaurant was superb.

Well, never been to Eastbourne before, but needed a late Jan break as been working away in Hong Kong, leaving just in time as things turned out.
Anyway, fancied a bit of winter walking along the coast.

Well the hotel is super, classic and ornate, but super friendly and certainly not stuffy.

As usual the shower, the bed and the quality of the sausage at breakfast are the key to making something from good to excellent. All three were perfect.

Large room, simply laid out, a little dated maybe, but clean and absolutely fine.
Breakfast, as mentioned was great, plenty of choice and its served in an enormous dining room, but no waiting for tea/coffee and 'special' eggs.

Obvioulsy the location is just the best, on the front (well across the road), short stroll to town, sslighly longer stroll to the coast, the cliffs and beachy head.

Must say, pleasantly suprised with Eastbourne, has a reputation for 'old folk, whatever that may mean, but it was not as tired as some of our costal towns look and feel in winter.

Will be back to the Grand, we both loved it.

Beautiful seafront hotel with First class service from every member of staff. The Seaview suite was beautifully appointed with excellent bedding. The bathroom was a little dated but all worked well and was very well maintained. A superb experience.

I have had several happy stays at The Grand. The staff are fantastic; unfailingly kind and helpful. Some of the rooms are getting a little tired but others are beautiful. I always look forward to breakfast. I love the ambience of the hotel. It is relaxing and unstuffy.

We adore the grand hotel Easbourne, we have stayed a few times previously for special occasions and decided to head there for the first time with our son (toddler). The staff are all so kind, welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We arrived a little early, but were told that it would be ok to use the pool and our bags would be taken to our room. We were then treated to an unexpected upgrade to a truly beautiful room. You can't appreciate just how special this made our staff, and we are so so grateful- thankyou. The room was perfect, everything we could need, including a tiny robe and rubber duck for our son.
We ordered room service for dinner, and weren't disappointed, everything arrived hot in silver trays with everything we needed.
The pool was so lovely and warm and the sauna and steam room were fab.

We just wanted to say thankyou for another perfect stay, we cannot wait to return :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel all the staff are pleasant, friendly and very professional. I did not realise that this was the Ritz but in Eastbourne! I felt very special and truly appreciated all the efforts from the staff from reception when they gave me a birthday to my birthday cake in the restaurant.

Walked in and negotiated. Often passed as a child/teenager and younger person and have always wanted to stay there. Lovely room, reasonable price. Comfortable bed. Luxury towels and bedding. Mason Brown products. Good shower. Bathrobe.
Breakfast was delicious and hot. Dinner was not so good value for the price. The steak was chewy and I commented but nothing done. Wrote to them with feedback and again negative response.
Glad I stayed though. My Grandma would be pleased I snagged a good deal.

Just came back from a spa break at The Grand. I must start by saying the service at the hotel is exemplary. The only time I’ve had as good as or better service is in Dubai. So it’s up there with the best or second best service I’ve ever experienced.

The spa was good, although a little dated in some places. I really enjoyed my treatments and Beatrice who did them was great! We spent some time relaxing by the pool but the relaxing soon stopped when kids arrived. I get the pool serves the whole hotel and all it’s guests but when it’s in the same place as the spa which should be relaxing, it takes away from it a bit when kids are shouting and jumping in the pool.

Dinner in the restaurant was good, not 5 star, but nice all the same, with a very extensive wine menu. Breakfast the following morning was really good. A great selection.

I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again

Spent a Saturday night here with a friend on one of the deals found online.
Arrived and struggled to park but the valet was quick to sort out a space for me and came running towards us to collect our luggage.
Found the staff and service to be impeccable and completely without fault.
Our Twin room with an inland view was perfectly adequate with tea making facilities, a Nespresso machine, hairdryer and a Molton Brown toiletries. Bed felt very luxurious and was very comfy.
Had two lovely treatments in the spa with Joanne and enjoyed the spa facilities but it was a bit cramped with quite a few others on spa deals. There is very little space and seating to sit leisurely and relax. Then Five children arrived in the pool and that ruined the relaxing and peaceful setting of a spa day albeit for approx 45 minutes.
The facilities and the decor throughout the hotel are a bit tired and it is in need of a serious overhaul in places but everywhere was very clean. There is evidence that the hotel is undergoing works to refurb though.
Dinner in the Green Room was a lovely experience. We had drinks in the bar first and the staff were very attentive to our needs. The food is not to the standard I would have expected for a 5* hotel but pleasant all the same with no cause for complaint.
Breakfast was fantastic though and I enjoyed this immensely.
If I had one bit of advice to the hotel it would be to lose the LCD faux fire in the fireplace in the afternoon tea area. It cheapens what is a lovely and intricate area.
All in all a lovely stay and would come back again.

Great authentic well placed hotel with lots of charm and history. The room size was fair, the layout didn't flow for me. Didn't sleep very well, awoke several times due to it being too cold even though the one room radiator and one bathroom heated towel rail was on max. The sash window located near the bed was quite draughty. When I checked out, I stated that the room was cold and that I hadn't had a good night's sleep. The check-out girl just advised that she would 'make a note on my profile' - whatever that means. It's unlikely that I would stay again, but if I did, I would decline the same room I had if offered (246). Thanks. MT

We stayed three nights to celebrate my wife's birthday and benefited from a special offer available in the winter months. We enjoyed having dinner once in each of the two restaurants (and ate out with friends on the third night). The room was clean and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful without being too intrusive. We used the indoor pool on two occasions. It's quite expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
