Perfect sunny afternoon in the garden of the wonderful Grand Hotel! Excellent service, interesting and informal menu, drinks just right. Totally memorable and a great option until the hotel reopens fully

My husband and I headed to Eastbourne for a cheeky night away before London entered tier 3. We had a basic room and the hotel provided a travel cot with bedding and even a little rubber duck for our one year old. They can’t currently offer babysitting because of covid. Our room had a small double bed but was adequate for the two of us for one night. The bathroom was huge with a rainforest shower over the bath, dressing gowns, slippers, plenty of towels and molten brown products.

Due to covid you need to book 45mins slots in the pool but we managed to book the times on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning that suited us. On Sunday morning we were the only three in the pool. There is also a jacuzzi.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it was super easy to park right outside the front in their free car park. Check in and check out was quick and easy and all of the staff were wonderful.

We had lunch in the lounge, think club sandwich and fries, baguettes, soups etc with full bar available and all waiter served. We had dinner at the Mirabelle which was wonderful. They don’t do a children’s menu there so we ordered our daughter the children’s room service, three courses and lots of options. She had a fruit platter, chocolate ice cream and penne pasta with tomato sauce, was served like something from home alone 2! We got her to sleep in the pram so we could have a pre dinner drink and canapé in the bar followed by a three course meal.

You have to book breakfast, which was no problem. The menu was extensive from pancakes to full English to eggs benedict etc etc. Everything is silver service, which was a lovely touch.

The hotel isn’t the modern style we usually go for, it’s very traditional in decor, however, it’s spotlessly clean and we had a wonderful time. Would thoroughly recommend for a night or two escape from the city once lockdown is lifted. It’s also across from the beach, literally cross the road and you are on it. A short walk from the pier and not too far from Beachy Head.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here to celebrate hubby's birthday. As always all the staff were very warm and welcoming. Due to coronavirus there were not as many guests around as usual but it was still a very enjoyable experience. The meal and service was very good as was the pre-lunch drinks and after lunch coffee in the lounge. It was also good to see all the precautions put in place to keep guests & staff safe from the virus. Have really missed staying for 3 nights as we usually do between Christmas & New Year this year but unfortunately due to moving into tier4 we were unable to visit. Look forward to visiting in 2021 when able.

All the hotel was good but the hotel needs some changes about the service and the stuff they should tell more what they have inside the hotel what can we do they could clean more and be more kind for the people

Some areas looking a little tired and a bit of a shame the real open fire has been replaced with a fake one but service, food and room were excellent. Lovely position. Dealing with the COVID restrictions well too.

Beautiful hotel, amazing and comfortable rooms, surprisingly friendly staff that actually seem like human beings rather than posh robots!! Service was great and the whirlpool bath and massive comfortable bed was everything I was looking for! So glad I decided to stay

This was 5-star luxury for a three-star price - the room deal was £120 for two, including use of the pool and Jacuzzi and a magnificent breakfast. The staff were impeccably attentive, the room beautifully equipped and the Christmas decorations spectacular.

Such a beautiful hotel, spacious room and all facilities spotless and up to date. Staff were extremely polite and I would definitely stay again. Breakfast was lovely and all cooked fresh to order. No faults whatsoever.

I feel as soon as i walk thru their opening doors, that life's stresses drop away, and I enter into a timeless luxury of being cared and catered for in exquisite luxury, that is incredible value for the priceless pleasure it leaves me with. Being on the sea front, where I can walk or swim enough appetite for another delicious meal, breakfast or bar snack, just makes my whole body smile. I love being remembered by the staff, stepping into a different world where I find myself very at home!! the beds are so comfy (this time i was celebrating and treated myself to room service chocolates - good move!!!) and the bath is luxuriously large to surround oneself with bubbles and scent, preparing to go for dinner in beautiful surroundings, with delicious menu and attentive, knowledgable staff. I would move in if i could, the doorman said there were plenty of rooms, so i shall book myself in again soon!

Stayed here numerous times, primarily for the superb food in the Mirabelle, but also because of the quality of the staff and the luxurious interior of the hotel. Location is also great, being close to Beachy Head. This visit was a good as ever. Nice room, even though we chose not to upgrade this time. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, as always, Dinner in the Mirabelle excellent, and great breakfast. Hotel looked lovely as it was decorated for Christmas with numerous, beautiful trees

My wife and I are just back from two nights at the Grand. We live locally however love a stay there as it feels like you've gone away.

On checking in the reception/door staff were great- very friendly and welcoming.

We had room 129 which has a balcony and sea view- really lovely room with wooden paneling. The bed was huge and very comfortable.

Harry in the bar was excellent and looked after us very well as did Chris in the health club who went out of his way to ensure we had a great time.

We ate at the Mirabelle on our second night. The food was very good and well worth the cost - £42 for a three course meal is very good. Again the staff were super- friendly and attentive as were the team in the garden restaurant for breakfast.

Sensible covid precautions taken but without spoiling the overall experience.

Many thanks for a great couple of days!

All the staff were very friendly, well prepared for Covid and implementing rules well. Good facilities within the hotel all to a high standard of cleaning. The location of the hotel is excellent and the on site parking was most welcome

We were warmly welcomed and delighted with our bedroom. We ate in the Mirabelle restaurant on Saturday night - a wonderful meal, with efficient friendly service from Ben and his team. We had dinner in the Garden Restaurant on 2 nights, good food, attractively presented. We were delighted to have our bedroom and bathroom cleaned each day, with fresh bedding and bath-towels provided.

This is an old fashioned hotel - but in the best possible sense. Formality without stiffness, time honoured food with a modern twist, great wifi connection in a room with a four poster bed. Stayed overnight combining business meetings in the town - but plan to come back again with my wife.

I was in dire need of a break for a few days away from London and decided on The Grand hotel. The staff could not have been anymore welcoming and friendly, and the hotel was all done up for Christmas. I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the spa treatments and afternoon tea. Plus every step was taken to keep people safe with Covid. I thoroughly recommend this hotel if you need a nice little break!

We were able to have a room allowing our dog stay but paid a premium price for dog food which was of poor quality (Ardens dog food). Room was lovely and clean with a slight sea view to one side. The matress was of poor quality on the double bed. Staff were very nice and excellent service. The biggest problem was the food at breakfast and dinner. Very poor quality, almost inedible potatoes at every meal, the rest of the food possibly preheated and left to sit. The presentation of the meal was nice but they need to focus on the cooking, it was very poorly cooked food served for each meal.

The hotel is in a prime location. Unfortunately, I have not stayed in the summer so not used outdoor pool, indoor one nice but small. Good food at dinner. Service good to start but deteriorated after 90 minutes as more diners but no more staff. 30 minutes wait for dessert! Confusion over use of a voucher I had.

Lovely shared spaces downstairs. Rooms and corridors VERY tired and needs some love. Not the 5 star you would expect anywhere else in the world. Staff amazing but the rooms need some work!
