Hotel staff were excellent, friendly and effective. Swimming pools were a big hit with the kids indoor and out- we had great weather. I really loved eastbourne, we walked from the hotel to Beachy Head white cliffs, they’re stunning. The tourist bus takes you up if you can’t make the walk. We had a drink at east dean at the tiger pub, pretty village setting. We found an amazing Thai restaurant just a walk away from our hotel, so good we went back twice. Will definitely visit the grand hotel and Eastbourne again.

We wanted to celebrate in style and lucky enough our anniversary is on June 1st so the hotel and spa were open for business. The staff were amazing which enhanced our experience no end, thank you all. We dined in the Mirabelle restaurant, where the cusine was out of this world. Five stars to the chefs who make it so and to the staff who are so attentive.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The prices are so high that you can't help but expect it not to look so shabby. Plaster peeling, frayed edges, very old-fashioned look; if you don't have a sea-view room, the room itself doesn't make up for the street view. However, this is a true Grande Dame of a hotel and I can forgive the shabbiness given the generally outstanding levels of service and the excellent food.

The staff are wonderful and work hard to look after everyone. There is no pretension or snobbishness; there were lots of families staying, it was very hot and like many guests we did not dress up for dinner (not scruffy, but not full jacket and tie rig). The staff treat you just the same and looked after us beautifully.

We had 2 rooms, 1 with sea view which was glorious, the other felt rather sad and dark in comparison. The restaurant is not cheap but the food was excellent. The drinks are expensive however, particularly bottled water and soft drinks. Breakfast was perfect. Afternoon tea was expensive but done well and we couldn't have eaten more!

Parking - don't bother to spend £25 for a space, the staff provide permits and we parked on the front right outside for free.

The outdoor pool is glorious and well-managed but you need to book swimming if you want to go at a busy time. If you want a lounger go early or at lunch time. The staff there work hard to make it nice for everyone and provide comfy deckchairs when the loungers run out.

The only thing that was not great was so many glasses etc left around waiting to be cleared up. Trays in the corridors, on desks etc. Breakfast tables were left rather than cleared - not nice to sit amongst. I think this may be due to a lack of staff, which is a problem most UK hotels seem to be having at the moment.

Everything we had expected and more. Staff incredible and so polite. Breakfast was 'interesting' but chaotic but by then we were so relaxed we didn't care. The bed was so good, we even checked the make as we hadn't slept that good for years.

I feel like after staying at The Grand Hotel for 2 nights a lot of improvements seriously do need to be made. The prices for alcoholic drinks are absurd and should be looked at, especially for hotel guests. Some of the staff had no idea what they were doing- especially at breakfast. They took so long to bring our food- I honestly thought that they had forgotten about our order. People that were sat after us, were served before us. We were not told before or even after booking that we had to make bookings to use the indoor and outdoor pool facilities. All of the guests we brought with us were really looking forward to going swimming but when I went down to ask about it they were fully booked. This just put a downer on the whole weekend. Especially as it was so warm as well. The rooms could be a lot better as well, but I do understand that it is an old hotel, so I can look past some things.

Overall, the stay was okay- hopefully they do make the necessary improvements to make the experience a lot more enjoyable.

A very friendly welcome. We had an executive sea view room, spotlessly clean with a large comfortable bed. Good quality toiletries in the bathroom. The little extras, fruit, nougat and sherry a lovely touch. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly, attentive ,without being intrusive and professional, a credit to the hotel. Real old fashioned 5 star service.

Wow. Post lock down heaven holiday. Just wow! Customer service was wow! We had such a great time. The only criticism was service at dinner but otherwise we had a fab stay and we are returning in august it was so good. The staff just couldn’t do enough to make our stay so wonderful.

Our first time staying in Eastbourne and at the Grand and surely not our last. The attention to detail and quality of service was world class. The Covid-19 related procedures were excellent and our room was wonderful.

An Excellent Wedding and enjoyed by all.
Advanced information on local road works is the only improvement to the weeding i could ask for as this added approximately 45 minuets to my journey

Booked in 4 people for light lunch. Food very average, sandwiches made with what looked and tasted like poor quality bread, seeded bread unavailable. Tea was served first as is usual but we waited 25 mins for sandwiches and so had cold tea. Vegetarian club sandwiches were dry and tasteless, salad garnish had so much dressing the the leaves were soggy, coffee wasn’t as hot as it should be. The latte was very good I’m told - and at over £5 I should think so! The service was ok but the quality of the food has definitely gone down. Such a shame, I used to love taking friends from out of town for a grand light lunch or afternoon tea but from now on I’ll be taking them elsewhere

The hotel comes with some reputation. However, not only is that reputation justified, the hotel exceeded expectations. If ever there was a hotel that was perfect, then this was it. We will be back to enjoy the experience.

Upgraded room to junior suite much appreciated. Room spacious and well equipped, very quiet and light. Very comfortable bed.
Hotel decor excellent as are all the outside areas. Staff all very helpful and friendly.
Dinner and breakfast very nice, slightly on the expensive side but fine for a few days of luxury living. Food quality excellent for all meals.
Parking could be an issue given it is in relatively short supply, however car park folk looked after us well.
Other than some unwelcome additions wrongly added to our bill, no complaints at all.
Hotel location on seafront excellent, about 15 mins walk to town centre.
Would thoroughly recommend.

An excellent hotel with courteous staff who could not have been more helpful and wonderful, inventive food. Great location overlooking the sea. Public rooms were airy and redolent of times gone by! Not cheap but worth every penny.

We found the Hotel very comfortable and the staff very helpful and courteous. The food was very good and enough but not too much. An easy Hotel to stay in and close to the beach and town. Afternoon Tea is very good.

We had a lovely stay. The room was absolutely wonderful, thank you for the upgrade. The room service was fantastic. The doormen are really helpful.
The outdoor pool is very nice, but does not take many people before it gets crowded.
We never knew when we were going to use the indoor pool, there is a lack of spontaneity, and on the first day the first slot was at 7pm, too late, so we gave up asking for the three nights here.
Ordering breakfast has hiccups. You have to keep reminding people of orders you’ve made because the items do not arrive. Top quality food though.
Overall, five stars and we’ll be back.

Have stayed many times. The rooms are delightfully old-fashioned but with every amenity and with loads of space for clothes etc (unlike many an hotel !) It is very relaxing and peaceful. Superb breakfast and charming, welcoming, helpful staff.

We have been to The Grand several times in the past, this time was for my wife’s special birthday. We booked a first floor suite with a huge sea view balcony...which was lovely. A little surprised that for the amount we were paying for the suite that parking wasn’t included, or at the very least, discounted as £25 a night is a little extreme. Reception, servers and housekeeping all perfect.
Dinner on the Sunday night was not. We were told we were going to be seated on a certain table, there were other people on our table...not a big problem, but waiting an hour for our main was, I asked for the beef and to be medium. When it eventually arrived, it was pink, almost raw and cold. The team offered to exchange/re cook/ re heat, however as it was now 10.00pm, we decided not to go for any of the options on offer. We spoke to the duty manager about how disappointed we both were....who was very apologetic...but that was it!. The following morning breakfast and service was spot on...and we were given an amazing table. Just a further point the baskets of pastries, inedible rolls, with 2 slices of burnt cold toast, should, we believe, be replaced with traditional toast, brown or white!

Spa was excellent but let down by poor slow service in restaurant which was not good enough considering the hotel rating and cost. Staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly apart from some of the restaurant staff who did not seem to care about their service.
