Stayed in October, with my dog,, had a beautiful ground floor suite with doors opening onto a small patio and the garden and swimming pool. Tried the plant base menu (not my usual taste) when a friend came to lunch. Trying to arrange my next year's trip to visit again. Chose to have a paid parking space which I would recommend doing.

Great location. Suite was a nice size. However, I do look forward to a good shower in a hotel. I would describe the shower as not much more than a dribble. The furnishings and carpet were tired. Not what I would expect for the price.

Had a behind the scenes tour of the hotel as part of a Customer Service lesson.
Operations behind the scene are made flawlessly with attention to detail and assurance the staff are keeping up with guest expectations. The hotel is well presented and flexible for customer requests and events.

This is a gorgeous historical hotel right on the beach front. It has two pools, indoor and outdoor. You can have a sunrise swim in the heated outdoor pool. The spa was absolutely fantastic, friendly and capable staff.

Beautiful I think victorian hotel, we had the cream tea which was amazing, originally thought it was expensive but after eating it it was delicious and filling well worth the money. The staff were exceptional will definitely be going again.

Lovely atmosphere, great service but as a coeliac the savoury part was great but their was definitely room for improvement for the gluten free cakes compared to the non gluten ones. A tad disappointed. 😔

This is a lovely hotel, made by the staff who are exceptionally good. Polite, friendly, hard working and helpful. As someone who sometimes recruits staff, I can only congratulate the Grand on how well they do in recruiting and training the right people. I didn't see a single member of staff who wasn't working hard. Other positives are the beautiful communal areas. Stunning, especially the restaurants and the Grand Hall. Both the restaurants are very good, and not over priced, given the high quality of the food. We had a few issues during our stay, but addressed very quickly and kindly, especially by Jason the Duty Manager, so no need to mention. Only caveat, and the reason for the loss of a star is that the Deluxe Rooms are pretty standard, as was pointed out in another review. Our room wasn't very cheery, with a view of a rooftop, and just one window, so it is worth being aware before booking that a Deluxe room is a standard room, and you may be unlucky with your room. But that said, staying here is a lovely experience, made, as others have said, by the excellent staff and beauty of the building. Highly recommend the Mirabelle restaurant for a special treat, and loved the traditional, low key live music on Friday night.

It’s ok nothing spectacular for five star . Could do with a modernisation

Service was excellent & food was excellent. Atmosphere was nice to (relaxed and no stress at all). The bar area was lovely to, cocktails were on the expensive side so gave them a miss. Decor was clean and everything worked but it did look a little dated and scents in things like carpets, doors and in particular the pool area could do with a refresh. However we had a great stay, thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend.

I know this hotel well as I drop in often for a coffee. It is comfortable but not up to 5 star standards of other 5 star hotels. Reception staff not always helpful or knowledgeable. When I called up today to make a booking for 4 for Friday, I found the lady I spoke to in reservations quite curt and disinterested in my enquiry. I am sure not everybody is like this but this particular lady lost a booking for the Grand as I have now booked the View Hotel for myself and family. Such a shame. Customer service should be a positive experience.
