Another perfect stay. This was visit number 18. We are there again next week and then July. Old world charm. The staff are very courteous and helpful and the Concierge team are superb. The location and views from the sea view rooms are superb. Ideally situated for theatres and several restaurants.

We were bought a night in this hotel, bed and breakfast and also Champagne Afternoon Tea. It was a Buyagift voucher and sometimes hotels do treat you as second class citizens but this was certainly not the case, in fact we stayed on a Saturday night and had the Afternoon Tea on the Sunday. Everything was excellent, the service, the room and it is in a beautiful location. Just across the road from the beach and very close to Beachy Head, with the town and station within a very easy walk.
From the minute we arrived we were very well looked after, our car was parked and our luggage taken to our room. We were on the ground floor which suited us very well, although there were many lifts to the other floors. In the afternoon we used the indoor pool, which was a good size and the changing rooms very clean with every facility you could wish for.
We did not have dinner in the hotel, as we visited friends locally, but if breakfast was anything to go by, I imagine it was extremely good.
We would certainly visit this hotel again and would be very happy to recommend.

Lovely hotel that lives up to its 5 star rating. Drove to door where car was parked for us, and porter accompanied us through very pleasant check in and on to our room where he explained what was where. We had newly refurbished room at the rear, long walk down to lifts owing to builders work - shame as I have a stick, maybe could have spotted this at reception and reallocated room? Room had everything required other than a trouser press.
Treated ourselves to a lovely afternoon tea in very nice lounge, great service and yummy cakes, sandwiches and scones, with real tea in fine china cups. Again nice service which is the secret of this place, everyone we came across was proactively nice and helpful.
We attended an evening function so did not use either restaurant or 24 hour room service. Breakfast was a delight, I had a lovely kipper and a full English in lovely setting.
Not cheap, but good value.

Nice 3 night stay at this popular hotel. We had the junior suite which consisted of 2 rooms with a partitioning. The adult room was fully furnished with a queen bed and complete furniture. The kids' room had 2 single beds, a television and more than enough furniture.
I wouldn't say that the hotel is a five star although it's rated as such. I say this as the furniture is quite dated and decor a bit worn off.
The food at breakfast is great but again I would expect more variety for five star standard.

What a glorious hotel! Lovely service, food, nice clean pools outdoors and indoors and especially the Onion Rings! Although they are strict about uniform for dinner and lunch it is perfect for a family get away as they have children's gift bags and cookies and milk at turndown. What a fabulous family hotel!

Myself and my husband were in need of a much needed break, I knew nothing about Eastbourne and knew nobody that had been there. The Grand looked good so just booked it. Having visited lots of hotels in the Europe I have to say it's was one of the nicest places I 'v stayed. The staff are highly trained which is rare these days. There was no loud music, no groups of loud party goers. The hotel was spotless, friendly and comfortable, We will definitely be back

We book on the day of our wedding anniversary, and had lunch in the Mirabelle restaurant. Staff were very attentive, we had drinks on the terrace overlooking the pool, our order was taken for lunch and the head waiter came to collect us when the meal was ready, carrying our drinks to the table. Lunch was excellent as was the service, we happen to mention it was our anniversary, and a lovely plate of chocolates arrived saying happy anniversary in chocolate! Compliments of The restaurant. A lovely touch.

My family and I have three short breaks a year at the wonderful Grand Hotel. What keeps bringing us back? Well, the staff at the sharp end are exceptional without exception! From the welcome and service of the concierge, the accommodating and warm reception staff and the first class service of the waiting staff, not only in the public rooms but in the Garden Restaurant where the food is mouth watering and dietary requirements are met without the blink of an eye. The Mirabelle Restaurant offers guests a more sophisticated ambience and menu but be prepared to pay more for the pleasure. There is a great mix of ages who are learning to appreciate all this hotel has to offer from the spa and health club and pools appreciated by young professionals to relaxing lounges for those wishing to merely relax with a book or kindle.
As regular visitors we are treated like family which is even nicer and our two dogs - who know to be on their best behaviour - are also treated as honoured guests. Check the out of season deals as these bring great savings and pay a little extra for a sea view room. The outside of the hotel is currently getting its new white coat and when finished I am sure they will then turn their attention to some of the bedrooms as ours - 300 - is starting to look tired. This 5* hotel is elegant in its architecture, it's staff give good old fashioned service with a nothing is too much trouble attitude and we can't wait for October when we will be back.

We stayed one night in a Master Suite on Easter Sunday - such a lovely treat. We were greeted by the very friendly doorman who showed us to a parking space. The hotel was totally buzzing when we arrived and there was a lovely string band playing whilst people were enjoying afternoon tea - it looked very tasty. Such a nice and welcoming atmosphere.

We went in the outdoor and indoor pool, both were very nice. We were shown those facilities by a very friendly and helpful member of staff.

We had two a 2 bedroom suite which was great - they provided a travel cot for our 2 year old daughter which we put in the small single room so we could enjoy the large lounge and dining area once she had gone to bed. The suite overall was really spacious. We'd been left a box of chocolate eggs, a fruit bowl and a little decanter of Sherry which was a nice touch.

We had a pre-dinner drink in the bar - Very relaxed with lots of big sofas nicely spaced out so we could enjoy a drink and didn't feel we were right on top of anyone else.

We didn't eat in the restaurants as had Room Service dinner and breakfast. The menu was pretty big for Room Service and had a good selection. It arrived quickly and was really nice. The breakfast selection was vast, presented nicely and was very fresh and tasty.

(Very minor point re the suite: The 2 bedroom suite we stayed in (321 i think it was) had a separate single bedroom with a door but just an archway going through from the lounge to the main bedroom - Only mentioning incase other families plan to book a suite as If our daughter had needed to sleep in the main bedroom we may have disturbed her in the evening being in the lounge and getting our Room Service etc)

Treated my daughter for her birthday. Room 106 didn't pay extra for sea view as spending all our time either in the spa enjoying excellent treatments, the restaurants enjoying the excellent food or in the comfortable lounges ...well ...just enjoying! Not cheap but then you get what you pay for. Staff attentive, friendly and helpful. Can't wait to do it all again...really hope it lives up to the standard set. One very minor irritation..returned to room after breakfast and had been locked out...check out is 11am but superb break and would recommend

I decided to treat myself to a couple of days at The Grand Hotel as my Mother had recently passed away and I needed a break. I was not disappointed. I went on my own but did not feel odd or awkward because the staff were most attentive at all times and made sure that I was comfortable particularly at mealtimes. The room was perfect, warm and clean with a great view of the sea. So I would thoroughly recommend The Grand for a relaxing luxurious break. I will definitely be going again.

My relatives have used the Grand on numerous occasions as residents of Eastbourne but a recent lunch time visit was very poor. A tired Chicken Caesar salad was followed by a Sea Bream with reheated new potatoes and an inedible cheese cake which must have been about a week old. The manager kindly refunded some of our bill but the charge of £24 for two courses for the standard of food was a joke.

Stayed there for two days at February half term with my two girls of 8 and 3. It must have been very similar a hundred years ago.. Great service, rooms, leisure centre and kids club. Right on the beach..

My husband and I booked this hotel restaurant as it was our friends 65th birthday. We booked a table for 4 people for 8pm as it is my friends favourite restaurant. This was a first visit for my husband and I. We went into the bar for a pre dinner drink. The staff were very attentive. We ordered our meal and when it was ready we were taken to our table. The food was amazing as was the service from all the staff waiting the tables. I enjoyed it so much I will probably celebrate my 65th birthday there.

Visited the Garden Restaurant for a Sunday lunch as we were given a voucher for Christmas and thought that this would be a treat - This was a big disappointment. In the past the food has been good there but we obviously picked a bad day ! The staff on the whole were attentive but there was no offer of changing my lamb that was grisly. the best part of the meal was the pudding.

We spent 5 days at The Grand to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. From the moment we drew up in our car to a very warm welcome, I had a good feeling about the hotel and was not disappointed. The gentlemen on the door unloaded our luggage, helped m-i-l out of the car and into the hotel, making sure she was comfortably seated while the car was parked for us and we checked in. Then off to our lovely sea view rooms, with fabulously comfortable beds and first rate facilities. The stay was a great success and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everything was spotlessly clean, the food was delicious, the hotel has a lovely warm ambience and the service throughout was impeccable. All the staff are friendly and give the impression that they really enjoy their jobs. We ate in The Garden Restaurant, had sandwiches in the lounge and also had room service; all were excellent. I also visited the beauty salon for several treatments and found them to be excellent. It is just a pity that the hair salon no longer operates because I would have used that as well. We were all sad to leave and intend to visit again as soon as possible! Thanks to all at The Grand for a very happy time.

This is a lovely old hotel with plenty of attentive staff and a certain sense of elegance from a bygone era.
Makes for a very relaxing stay.
Wonderful breakfast.
The deluxe double bedroom was slightly on the small side but the bathroom was nice and big.
Great 4 piece band in the lounge on Friday and Saturday evening with dancing, very entertaining.
It just leaves you with a sense of well being and a warm feeling inside.

A special weekend away, not too far from home is a luxury and this was a most enjoyable luxury that was so worthwhile. The ambiance was delightful, the massages were heavenly the only downside was the extremely high cost of an XO brandy, but I suppose you can't win them all.

Beautiful location , just facing the English Channel. Grand layout which reminds of early British mansions. Best part was the hospitality shown by the staff right from the Concengrie to the bell boy, everybody was very courteous. Wonderful place to spend a weekend of luxury.

We treated friends to lunch on Saturday 12th March in the Mirabelle Restaurant, it was superb, we were looked after so well by Kristine and Jamie, thank you Jamie for recommending the Apple Mousse with Calvados ice cream, this was one of the best puddings I ever had!
Thank you for such an enjoyable eating experience.

This lovely hotel never disappoints. It is such a charming place with a sense of grandeur and calm. There have been lots of reviews stating it is tired looking, and in places it is, but it is a historic hotel and somehow it is acceptable. On arrival the wonderful doormen are so helpful, they will take your luggage and show you to a parking space. Very polite staff on check in which was swift. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we were greeted with a hand written anniversary card from the Management Team which we thought was such a lovely and personal gesture. We were in Room 127 which was a sea view suite that was absolutely charming. We had a large balcony and it was lovely to stand out there and watch the world go by. There was a lounge area with a TV as well as a TV in the bedroom. The bed and pillows were amazing, so comfortable. There was complimentary bottled water available which was topped up during the turndown service in the evening. There is free wifi throughout, in room safe, hairdryer and Molton Brown toiletries. We had a light meal from the room service menu and it was huge. It was promptly delivered and set up in our room and then taken away once we were ready. We went out for the evening and came back for a night cap in the bar which was lovely as there was a live band playing and it was really nice listening to them and watching the dancing. Breakfast was fabulous all cooked to order and a wonderful choice available. Every single member of staff were polite and courteous and are a credit to the hotel. We really did enjoy our stay and will definitely return - in fact if we win the lottery we will sell up and retire there !

I booked a weekend getaway for my wife and I. When we were shown our executive King room, I was very disappointed as we were in the wing that was being renovated. The room overlooked a roof and was quite dark anyway. The decorators were not present over the weekend but the stripped walls and plastic sheeting on the hallways left dust all over the place so I was coughing all night and did not get much sleep.we feel that we should have been told that was all that was available and we could have made a choice whether to go or not. The service c was excellent but we ended up not having a great weekend which we expected
