A local pub/restaurant has recently changed hands - and just about everything we liked about it. Having read reviews of The Giant's Rest we decided to give it a try after a walk to the top of the Long Man. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff supplying locally sourced ingredients made for a lovely meal. Especially recommend the Wilmington rarebit and the Longman brewery's Crafty Blonde. A wide and varied menu - we will be back

We are fortunate to live in polegate where we are surrounded by some of the best pubs we’ve been to! The Giants Rest is one of them. It was the last pub we went to before lockdown and the first we went back to after. The menu is always fabulous and well priced. They have an excellent chef so we enjoy their lunches as often as we can. It’s not too big, is nicely done out, usually has interesting games on each table and the staff are always chatty and helpful. Can’t fault it.

Local to me, they have really done well implementing Covid- secure practice - service with a smile, food as lovely as ever - nothing is too much trouble - garden seating well spaced too - just what a village pub should be - recommend worth visiting should you be in the area!

After a glorious hike on the South Downs around the Long Man if Wilmington, we were delighted by the beer and superb roast at this modest looking little pub. Great service was a bonus.

The truth is that I only had a coffee. The menu did not catch my attention but I consider that it is simple and expensive. It is a good place to have a drink when you go to visit Long Man of Wilmington.

just had an amazing roast dinner here!!!! the staff are very professional and they have a brilliant covid19 system set up!
tables are very well set out with tape marking safe eating zones plus have lots of outside seating too
