Went there with the Family of 5 and surprisingly blown out with the taste of a variety of mouthwatering Keralian food. Even our request to make us 15 fresh poppadoms at their busiest period was happily accommodated.
This establishment is 7 weeks old so the young pleasant owners from what we saw will do very well to progress to the next level. The family enjoyed the food immensely as we travelled from London for the day. Hats off to the Kitchen staff as well.

The evening didn’t start well as the waiter dropped a pint of beer over my wife, daughter, table and floor.
However... the way that Phillip (owner) reacted was special. It is said that how someone reacts to a fault is an indicator of how good the service is, and it was faultless. The food was very good, authentic and very nicely presented.
Visit this place for a great evening of good food and buzzing atmosphere.

Went with 5 friends and we had 3 x 2 tables with plenty of room.
There was a good choice of food and I thoroughly enjoyed my starter of onion fritters and main fish curry which made me extremely full and happy. This was my first visit but I will definitely be back

Husband and I walked into this restaurant after being undecisive about what to eat for lunch. Best decision ever!
Even though the restaurant was very busy the lovely owners accomodated us. They are very warm and friendly.
I ordered a masala dosa and chilly paneer. Both were full of flavours. Husband tired the prawns for starters and lamb curry with parotta as his main course. He said it was among the best lamb curry's he's ever had. (Everything is even better when it's still warm)
Definitely recommended when in or around Eastbourne. M glad I was able to try it.
PS - Book in advance.

My husband and I had lunch at Malayalam Restaurant on a recent trip to Eastbourne. The boneless fish curry (kingfish) is absolutely delicious. The staff are very attentive. It was a lovely experience. We'll definitely be back when in Eastbourne.

Decided that we wanted an Indian tonight after a long week at work and noticed this new restaurant was doing vegan food MALAYALAM Restaurant. I don’t normally write reviews but it was the most amazing and tasty food I have had in a very long time. They cook the Kerala style Indian food and they understand the vegan / plant based diet and will go above and beyond to make sure that everything you order is vegan. I highly highly recommend this new restaurant in Eastbourne and they were so lovely when i ordered via the telephone and picked it up on the way home with the added bonus of 20% off with pick up. Eastbourne vegans you NEED to try this place.

It makes a change to find an Indian restaurant with a menu containing something different to CTM, madras, etc. Now I enjoy an Indian but they can become a bit samey. Malayalam has a menu of refreshing Keralan dishes in a friendly, released atmosphere. Recommended for a visit. Enjoy!

What a welcome addition to Eastbourne’s restaurant scene Malayalam is.
The menu is excellent - entirely Kerala cuisine, so plenty of fish and vegetarian dishes. They have sensibly kept the menu fairly short, as food is freshly prepared to your order. Service is friendly and efficient, the ambiance relaxed and informal.
We love chilli, coconut, fish, ginger, curry leaves, lime, fenugreek etc and the food was so well prepared that all the individual flavours shone through. We will definitely be visiting Malayalam regularly. It’s just a shame that they aren’t open at breakfast time... I could happily breakfast on dosa and sambar every morning!

Finally an Indian in Eastbourne . I have lived 40 years in Yorkshire and moved to Eastbourne 7 years ago. One of the things I miss is a good Bradford curry . Finally we have a great restaurant here in Eastbourne. Small menu which I love as you know everything is cooked to order, lovely interesting choices...not a korma or tikka masala insight just proper Kerala cuisine.great service by the family and tables well spaced out due to current covid . Please go and support this restaurant we are sooooo lucky they chose Eastbourne!!!

I really can’t explain what i felt when i had my 1st dish from this restaurant. It was just delicious. That was the first time i had some good kerala style food from the UK. The one and only best place for kerala cuisine. Now i am a regular customer there. They have included the real culture of kerala in every part of that restaurant. When i am there i feel that i am in some part of kerala. Thats what makes me to visit MALAYALAM Restaurant again and again. They have tried to include all those typical kerala food in their menu. I have visited many Kerala restaurants in the UK but I haven’t had such amazing food from any of that restaurant. I am happy that finally i have found the right place. I have tried many of their dishes and the best part is that, the taste of the food is exactly the same of a typical kerala food. They will cook the food as our preference thats the another point which attracted me. So all mallus out there and the people who love kerala food i am telling you... this is the best place to fill your tummy

We have visited twice in the past few weeks and on both occasions the service and the food has been amazing. We particularly like the Biriyani which is one of the best we have ever experienced. Malayalam is a wonderful addition to the restaurant scene in Eastbourne.

Our dinner at Malayalam was in a single word, outstanding. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable in their Keralan cuisine. The food was superior, tasty, perfectly spiced, and expertly cooked. The starters of onion fritters and grilled fish were delectable, and the the coastal chicken curry, lamb and spinach curry (to die for!), coconut rice, and chapati that followed were equally superb. We would go back in a heartbeat, and will. Bravo!
