Recommended to us by friends who have experience of travelling in India who described the food here as authentic and have eaten here often. This is not an ordinary Indian restaurant, neither is it “Indian with a twist” or “Modern Indian cuisine”. It is, we are assured, authentic regional and not quite like any Indian food we have experienced before. We found the simple menu unfamiliar but it was all very tasty and enjoyable. It appears to be family run and the friendly and polite staff were very enthusiastic, taking pleasure in explaining about the restaurant and it’s dishes. The tables are well spaced and comfortable. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Visited after a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Limited menu at the moment but good luck to a new family run restaurant starting out in a pandemic! Kerala choices were lovely - nice to see something different on the menu. Service was superb, but it was quite quiet so I assume they'd have more staff if it was busier. The staff's product knowledge of the menu was excellent, so we both ordered things we wouldn't usually have tried.
They had some September offers with complimentary beer too. A really nice evening, nice to have tried somewhere new. We have recommended to friends & family already.

Had dinner here last night the food was amazing, my husband had a fish curry which was wrapped in banana leaves with spicy potato and rice I am a coeliac so worry about eating out but they offered a menu that specify gluten free, vegan and vegetarian I had the aubergine curry with coconut rice and bread made out of coconut too, the rest of family had spicy potatoes and chicken curry and all of us enjoyed it so much. Its quite a new restaurant and they were so attentive and lovely . The restaurant made sure that we were really safe with Covid too all staff wearing masks and hand sanitisers as we went in and diners all spaced out. Hope that they continue the great service and look forward to visiting again.

We were very pleased with both the food and the Covid-safe arrangements here.
The food was good - maybe not outstanding but certainly good to eat and much like you'd find in Kerala / South India. Keralan cuisineis rather more meat and fish orientated than most of us are keen on but there are some good options here. We variously had Masala dosa, lentil and spinach and an aubergine curry. A bit mild maybe but as one of our party pointed out "this is Eastbourne". I had the Keralan breads - a little like scotch pancakes but made with rice and coconut. An interesting alternative to chapatis (or rice). Granddaughter had a chicken dish which she liked. There is plenty of space between the tables and the other Covid practices look fine.
Attentive and friendly staff made it a pleasant experience. At £66 for a two course meal with drinks for 4, we were very satisfied with the value for money.Do support his family venture in these hard times. Malayalam, by the way, is the language spoken in the fascinating Indian State of Kerala.

The problem with this venue was getting there we had to park a fair distance away. And as I am disabled it was a little to far for me. The restaurant was well decorated and clean. But we were the only other customers in there. The starters were lovely but when it came to the main course i found the curry very bland and watery . I we all thought bit was a tad expensive . For 4 starters 4 main courses 2 Cobra beers a coke and a Rose' wine .The bill came to £ 81 pounds and we did not dare have a sweet. All in all I was very disappointed with the main course as was my son and daughter/in/law and wife. I will not be frequenting the restaurant again. Ken

It was the first time, I have eaten in an authentic Indian restaurant, because I'm a whimp. With hot, spicy food. But I had no worries, your food is customed to your personal palate. Excellent service, excellent price. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

A gem of a find, my wife and i were on a weekend break in Eastbourne. We came across this restaurant by chance, and so glad we did. Even without booking they did everything possible to find us a table. Which i am extremely grateful for. The food was magnificent just as was the staff. It is authentic and cooked with pure heart. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for very good quality and quantity at great prices. We will definitely return when we are in Eastbourne again. Thank you again for fitting us in.

Went for the first time this evening. Excellent food. Lovely friendly staff Not had a masala dosa since we left South London a few years ago. It was delicious (and huge). We then had pepper curry and rice and coconut bread. All lovely. Wine nice too. We will definitely be back.

Had a really good experience there ... As a vegan it is hard to find (good) out of London and especially in small coastal towns. Great service and food made with love. Happy to support a family business. On the other hand I would not have mind less oil in the curries. Try the masala dosa, one of the best I have ever tasted. Would come back !

Malayalam served us excellent authentic Keralan food with brilliant service
Starters proved promising, with the thunder lamb being very tender and tasty.
For mains we had the pepper chicken and the coastal chicken dishes, both were incredibly tasty without being hot.
My wife travels to India a lot and much prefers traditional Indian cuisine with gravy rather than what is normally served over here and was greatly impressed by the food.
Service was also quick and attentive without being over bearing.
Overall an easy 5 star and would definitely recommend.

Amazingly fresh and tasty food with loads of gluten free options. Keralan food is my favourite, with much more interesting flavours than northern Indian cuisine and much healthier too as they don't cook with lots of oil. I wish they did a cookery course as I want to be able to cook like this!

We only recently noticed that this restaurant had opened and decided to go at lunchtime today to try their special lunchtime menu available during September which was 2 curries, 2 side dishes, 2 relishes, coconut rice and a dosa for £7.95 per person.
We booked a table in advance as we didn't want to be disappointed. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, with lovely smiling faces. We were very tempted to try the main menu itself but stuck to our original intention.
We both went for the non-vegetarian option and the food was so tasty, beautifully presented and it was good to have a variety of dishes to eat. Each of the dishes was explained to us too, which is always a good sign. You could taste the different spices and none of the dishes were too "hot", just right. It was lovely to have a dosa (rather like a crepe) instead of a thick naan. When the food was presented on its large silver platter we didn't think we would finish everything - but we did! However that meant we didn't have any room for dessert.
We will definitely come back again - hopefully in the not too distant future. One word of caution: this restaurant will quickly become very popular so I would suggest you reserve a table in advance, just in case.
