We are Eastbourne residents and visited this restaurant for the first time. The food was absolutely excellent and it was lovely to have the opportunity to try Keralan cuisine. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing excellent service. The facilities were very clean. We will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend others to try this wonderfully refreshing new restaurant.

We had a beautiful meal at Malayalam today. My Dad and I went as we recently had a lovely takeaway with them but really recommend dining in as the staff are really attentive and friendly. I am a vegan and their menu is clearly marked with this as well as other allergens and the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu too. Highly recommended!

We were thrilled with our takeaway - the flavours took me right back to Kerala where I experienced wonderful food last year. The flavours are different to the usual dishes offered by Indian restaurants but don't let lack of familiarity put you off - we had a range of starters and mostly vegetarian dishes along with the lamb dish which was delicious. The curries are 'wet' - perfect for dipping in the delicious breads - with perfect spicing and depth of flavour. We can't wait until we visit Eastbourne again - but next time we will eat in so that we can get the full experience and welcome! Nicola

Found this brilliant place while in Eastbourne for a meeting. It was a genuine delightful treat for the senses with superb, tongue tingling food expertly prepared and served. The owners are welcoming and the prices are such good value. If I lived in Eastbourne I'd eat there everyday. A treat for your tummy go there and find out!

Our first visit and a wonderful welcome from our kerala hosts. The food is so different from other Indian restaurants. As starters we had Traditional diced chicken in heaven, keral secret fish stir fry and Ullivada onion fritters all excellent. Mains were malayali slow cooked lamb , special chicken biryani and varivaracha Malabo coastal chicken curry. We will certainly go again and highly recommend you to go as soon as possible...a new restaurant sure to become booked up!

Went here last night with family of 1 meat eater and 3 vegans. The food is superb, really subtle, delicious flavours.
We travelled from Lewes and glad we made the effort, we had a superb evening.My non vegan son's fish dish blew his mind with the size of the portion and flavour. We had vegan options that are so good.
Really friendly low key service as well...they even pointed out we had ordered too many starters and would not eat them all.Can't recommend highly enough....a bit special.

Beautiful flavours
From the moment we entered to leaving the hosts we amazing. They catered for my coeliac husband and provided knowledge about the different meals. The taste was awesome and with every mouthful I wanted more. The price was exceptional and once again the flavours were to die for! Thanks for the memories and full bellies.

This was my first visit to Malayalam and it will be the first of many!
The food was fantastic, the staff are lovely, friendly and do a great job of looking after all their guests. Quite a challenge due to the place being full and other people waiting outside for a table to become free. The fact that it was so busy, even though it has only recently opened, speaks volumes about how popular this restaurant is already.
Looking forward to my next visit, which is most likely with a bunch of friends and expect that we will need to book ahead!

As Eastbourne restaurant regulars we were recommended Malayalam and can see why. The food from Kerala was quite simply divine, containing blends of spices never before experienced coupled with friendly and efficient service.
The menu is varied & enticing, noticeably different and filling a gap in the market for this specialist cooking that Eastbourne needs.Highly recommended if you’re looking for something different, a bit adventurous but enjoy a good curry!

Went here for both nights of our weekend by the sea. The service was excellent both times, first night we had seafood curry which was like a soup, flavour was sublime and kingfish wrapped in banana leaf which was outstanding. On the second visit we had starters, paneer, masala dosage and onion fritters, all were excellent followed by kingfish wrapped in banana leaf. We were so happy we tried this restaurant because it proved to be fantastic. It was telling that plenty of eastern customers were eating there... it's that good

Amazing little place near the seafront. Very friendly staff and the food was absolutely delicious! I recommend their fish, it’s awesome and you’ll be full and happy after a meal there.

Delicious Food and great service
My wife and I had our dinner from here and the food was delicious just as described and could taste every bit of spices and flavour.
Our stomach and heart was filled with satisfaction.
Sujith and Sneha served us and both were extremely polite and helpful.
They have recently started the business and we wish them all the success.
If you love the taste of Kerala, India or want to try it, there is no other better place to be.

Food delivery exp : inconsistent food taste, bought two times dosa and chilli paneer...first time it was good and yesterday it was not good
Dine in: Dosa is still on the average tasting side, but I am a tamilian and very particular about how the Dosa, Sambar and chutney is ,but this place is only restaurant in Eastbourne to serve dosa .The desert is really good it's a must try. The service is very good too!

What an experience!.. don't go through life without tasting this amazing Karalan fish curry at this restaurant! Never have we tasted such beautiful and perfectly matched flavours in a curry. The fish is marinated over night and then grilled in banana leaves with their own amazing fish sauce. Couldn't be more satisfied. And the simple rice pudding desert.. again on another level.. and the staff are so helpful and friendly and make for a wonderful dining experience.. so glad to have found this little gem.. we'll be back! :-)

We just enjoyed the best takeaway from here - having visited Kerala last year, I have been trying to find authentic southern Indian food and this ticked all the boxes. If you haven't had southern Indian food before it is a treat - lots of subtle spicing, warm flavours, delicious breads (including gorgeous dosa) and 'wet' curries that you dip into. We chose a range of starters and mainly vegetable dishes plus the lamb. All were beautifully cooked and took me back to Kerala. Highly recommended - I wish we lived locally! One of my daughters said that it was the best Indian food she has eaten.

Well, this place is a great find... I have ordered a couple of times for Take Away and hugely impressed both times. The biriyani is just wonderful, its properly layered (the way its supposed to be) with toppings and it has actual pods and star anise floating around giving it a lovely flavour.
I ordered a Dosa the most recent time, and it was very nice - however, side note here, Dosa is usually crisp and through the nature of putting it in a bag for delivery it loses the crispiness - this is no reflection on them, but just a matter of fact for the purposes of delivery. I'd suggest only ordering Dosa if you're eating in the resturant (that being said it was still tasty and come with appropriate chutneys and samba which were very nice too).
One thing you see a lot in Indian restaurants is the yogurt being sweetened, I'm pleased to say that nothing is sweetened it seems and you get that distinct sourness that goes so well.
I've also had curry rolls, Uppams, Onion Vada and payasam, again all very tasty and will be ordering (or visiting) again!
I made Sheera at home the other day and it has the same wonderful combo of cardamon, sugar, milk and butter/ghee taste as the payasam, 100% recommend.

What a gem this new restaurant is. Ate there last night and i can honestly say it was one of the best meals i have had in ages. Absolutely lovely owners whose attention to detail made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious and good portion size. It is reasonably priced too. There is nothing not to like. Highly recommended.
