The intention was to travel to Camber Sands Beach but due to requests by the police to avoid the area due to overcrowding and COVID-19 I was challenged to find another location that was just or equally as beautiful.
After typing into google; 'relaxing uncrowded places to visit in the UK' it yielded a variety of great places but none as eye-catching as Herstmonceux Castle.
This place is super friendly to children! That means parents can relax a little more and enjoy the awesome scenery.
Dog lovers will be happy to know you may walk your dogs around the grounds too.

The first thing you will notice (of course) is the beautiful castle. Before anyone enters the first thing they do is take a picture in front of it.

The Gardens are beautiful and a great place to have a picnic. It is quite possible that you would spend the whole day there and not notice.

They got it absolutely right when this place was founded. The love and attention that has gone into making it what it is gives you food for thought.

I will definitely bring my family back. Hopefully the castle, observatory and tea shops will be open (stupid COVID).

Despite both the castle and cafe being closed the gardens and woodland walks are a treat to enjoy on a sunny day. Plenty of wooden statues, noisy guinea fowl and busy fish in the moat to catch your eye

Stunning Gardens! We went on a weekend, during the lockdown - we were welcomed by friendly staff, it wasn't crowded at all, hand sanitizers were provided at the entrance which made us feel safe. However I was disappointed that despite the notice on the toilets saying "one person in at a time only" - a woman followed after me and snuck into the next WC cubicle beside me which annoyed me quite a bit!! People really need to take the govt. social distancing guidelines seriously!!! We managed a decent walk on the grounds. We weren't able to access the indoors due to Covid-19 restrictions which was an absolute shame but will definitely be back to explore these grand - well, stunning buildings!

At our visit the Castle was closed (covid) so we only visited the gardens. Highly recommended to everyone. Beautifully maintained and presented especially the Shakespeare gardens.

A lovely example of a castle that is not a ruin, as many are, but a full surviving part of history. Lovely architecture and beautiful well maintained grounds. A great day out for the family 👪

Lovely place. I wish it wasn't raining although it isn't really anything there. You can't access to the castle so.
