Tolles Ambiente.

What a lovely place to be . The Castle itself cannot be visited, but the garden and the woodlands are an exceptional beauty. Now the bluebells are in bloom. The wood seems so natural and magic. And the old Chestnuttrees are from another world.

We didn't go inside castle as the tour was fully booked but grounds, gardens, Cafè and gift shop were a real joy. As the weather was sunny and very warm our first stop was to sit outside the Tea Shop in the courtyard and have coffee. We were given a map on entrance so we planned our route through all the seven different gardens. The Rose Garden was Quintessentially English, absolutely beautiful as were all the other themed gardens, after about a couple of hours we headed back as 'nature called'. The facilities were good with a disabled lavatory as well.
We bought one or two gifts from the shop, a beautiful original painting which they had an affordable large selection of and some birthday cards. We were delighted to be introduced to one of the Artists who was serving at the time. We had lunch already planned but noticed they were serving some delicious looking salads... We will definitely be back and be a bit more adventurous over the fields and do the woodland walk and certainly stay for lunch.
ps, There is a play area (near The Science Centre) , so we might even bring the Grandchildren.

We visited the grounds on a beautiful spring day. You were still unable to go in to the castle when we went. There is plenty to look at and lots of walking to be had. The grounds and scenery are beautiful. We had our 2 boys with is and went with friends who had their young son with them so we visited the play area. To be honest there wasn't much at the play area for the kids but still plenty of room to run around. The cafe was nice and reasonably priced. We will go back when the castle tours are back up and running.

Lovely peaceful place to visit with well looked after gardens throughout the seasons.

Reason for 4 stars is that the castle isn't open to viewing until further notice. It looks lovely and the grounds are vast and well kept. Hope to revisit when the castle reopens.

Absolutely beautiful. Great to walk the gardens and let the kids run about in the sunshine. The cafe was reasonably priced and the toilets clean. Gardeners world 241 made the entry fee well worth it. We will be back!

A great place to visit if you're looking for an imaginative, beautifully presented and tranquil garden-or rather gardens.
The castle itself is an imposing building, which has gone through a few incarnations and is now the property of the University of Queens, Ontario. It's usually open to the public on a guided tour arrangement as it's used as a study centre and provides (I think) accommodation for the students.
Anyway, a place well worth a visit. The Science Centre, situated at the top of the hill, which leads to the castle, is a great place for families and budding scientists of all ages.

A fantastic place to visit, only problem with this time of year is that spring flowers have gone over but summer flowers aren't out yet
