A real pity that the pier was damaged by fire and is still being rebuilt. However, it is still a pleasant walk alongside the sea and well worth a visit to the excellent tea shop near the end of the pier where the cream teas and sandwiches are truly scrumptious and the staff are most welcoming. And as for price . . . the walk along the pier is free and the cream teas are very good value! What more could you ask for?

We visited the seaside town of Eastbourne last week by coach, it was our first visit & we were very impressed with all the plush looking hotels which overlook the sea. It has quite a bustling shopping centre which snakes its way through the centre of the town & there is a large bandstand not far from the pier. The pier itself which is open to the public is a sad site at the moment as a large part of it is cordoned off as it is in the process of being refurbished & it appears that it will be some time before it is restored to its former glory. This resort has a very long shingle beach which is divided up by many timber groins. There are also some lovely gardens to walk round or sit in for a while. All in all this is a very pleasant seaside town to visit.

You can walk to the end but it is still being repaired after the fire.
Still quite nice to walk to the end and a few shops are open.

Even though it is still being rebuilt after a fire, one could imagine what a grand structure it is going to be. there were wonderful sea views of Eastbourne from both sides of the pier which is still open to the public.

It was sad to see this lovely Pier in its Fire Damaged State. My wife and I walked to the end of the Pier. This is the Focal point of the Eastbourne area. Everyone should visit and spend money to help the small shops on the pier. It was great to see that the Pier is being repaired. I hope to see a totally renovated Pier the next time I visit Eastbourne. I would like to ask everyone to visit this Pier and help support this important part of Eastbourne History.

We went before the fire, they had typical confectionery & some seaside type shops. Amusement arcade and seating to sit and while away some time in the sunshine.

Still being renovated after fire, but well worth a visit. Well managed renovation . Lovely views back to walks on front and gardens. Lots of places to sit for picnic. Beautiful place for a stroll on a sunny day.

It is worth a walk about this pier which extends quite far out to sea. It has the charm of a traditional seaside pier with the tacky postcard, sweet shop and an old cafe. The pier is partly under refurbishment due to a terrible fire in 2014. You can still get round the pier but they close it at night which is a shame as it is romantic when lit up.

Obviously in the process of being rebuilt, so not much to do "onboard"..but at least it was free..Sun was shining so we had a stroll along and admired the view.

Following partial destruction from fire, a lot of the pier is behind hoardings (with peep holes so you can see what's going on) is being refurbished. Not a lot was happening when we walked along the full length of the pier, it was very windy. Glad to report that it is easily accessible to wheelchair users.

To be perfectly honest we never came across anything that made us dislike or gave us cause for complaint. the coach trip had a very nice surprise on the way out with a stop at Windsor castle including a lunch break.

Under going essential repairs but still a nice walk. The tea rooms on the pier worth a visit. There are several little shops on the pier as well as a camera obscura. How can you do the seaside with out a walk on the pier.

Visited while being refurbished after the fire. It still has the old charm of the 50s, and I am sure will be renovated back to its old style.

The Pier has been partly destroyed after a fire. The renovation has started and we were so happy to discover its aspect during the renovation.

Nice café right in the middle of the pier. Interesting décor and ambience. Home made scones are part of the afternoon cream tea. Friendly staff and reasonable prices that won't break the bank

Stayed in Eastbourne for 5 days and this was definitely the best part of our trip. Loved the blue victorian architecture which gave a awesome vintage feel to the whole pier. Was able to take excellent photo shots with all the little details and features. Would definitely recommend a leisurely walk around this lovely pier to all, taking in the sea, sun and sky. Shame about the scaffolding, but this even was able to get good photos with this too. Unbelievably saw Roy Hodgson too while walking around!

The pier is still undergoing restoration after last year's fire but they have worked really hard to ensure that you can still walk up and down both sides to the end of the pier. Some shops are open including the lovely doughnut shop at the entrance and the gift shops on the pier.
