One of the best of our national piers, well maintained with interesting Bijou shops, plenty of seating areas and refreshment units as well as a good "pub" with good value menu options. Sad to see the ruins of last years fire, completely destroying the arcade area, a similar bizarre event as happened to Hastings pier, further along the coast.
Both fires in the gaming sections ?
Tremendous views of the seafront from the far end fishing section.
If you are hungry, try the excellent fish and chips at the front lobby entrance.

Despite the great fire it is still an historic pier. There is a nice cafe situated mid pier, a fish and chip shop, a nightclub and bar, and lots of other things to do.
We like to walk from the Grand Hotel to the pier, around the pier, and back again. A great way to blow away the cobwebs.

Interesting to walk where the ballroom/Blue Room used to be before the fire. The other attractions seem to be doing well. It will be interesting to see what the pier looks like when all the work is complete.

So nice to walk along this pier, although very windy we did have a laugh, friendly shop owners, not pushy could browse with no pressure to make a purchase

Eastbourne Pier appears at first glance to be a bit of a mess as contractors are everywhere attempting to restore this pier after a devastating fire in 2013 I believe. Some shops and cafeteria bars have reopened and I feel sure that once the work to restore the pier is complete it will be fully restored back to its former grandeur, including its end of the pier theatre.

Not withstanding the scaffolding and building work it is still a grand old place to sit a while a way a few hours.

Nice to see such a clean and tidy pier. Will be even better when the repairs are finished. Lovely views.

The pier is worth a walk, if you have children, leave either them or your money at home, it's mainly slot machines and games

Enjoyed walking along and meeting the people there. Chatted to one of the shopowners on the pier who told us a lot of the history. Wonderful experience

On Saturday we visited Brighton and went along the Pier which was very impressive, on Sunday we visiTed the Eastbourne Pier which bears no resemblance, it is obviously being renervated but looks shabby and far from interesting, very disappointed.

If you visit Eastbourne you can't miss a walk on the Pier, especially in a sunny summer day :-)
Great view on both sides.

Shame there is some hoarding up on the pier but nice to walk along. Only thing missing is the amusements hoping that this will come back when the restoration is finished

The pier is being restored, so it is unfair to judge too harshly. It is free to walk around and you can donate to help the restoration if you want to. Not much to do in the evening, when we were there, but it does have a cafe open during the day. When restored I am sure it will be lovely.

The stoll around the pier was lovely, it's still under going repairs at the moment but there is still easy access and plenty to enjoy

Looking a little sad after last year's fire and much of it still closed off but obviously a lot of work going into the restoration. Fascinating to see how the lights fared in the fire - some intact with others showing varying degrees of fire damage

The titlle shall not be understood in a negative way, but because of a fire a huge part of the pier was missing. The missing part was the entry building which had been placed in the start of the pier. But the remaining part was certainly worth visiting. It is not to compare with the pier in Bristol which is all amusement and "cirkus". The remaining building on the pier contains restaurants, but we did not visit. At the end of the pier there were possibility to catch your own fish for the chips. Fishing rod could be rented if you did not bring your own.

Eastbourne was interesting to say the least - a huge mixture of old and new and there is obviously hard work continuing to bring the whole town into the 21st century. Very relaxing, friendly visit.

A Devine piece of history. I love just walking along listening to the sea bellow me and the seagulls above me. I always find myself pondering life here.

If a seaside has a pier you must visit it, Eastbourne pier is a nice sized pier and they are doing a wonderful job of renovating the fire damage on the pier. There is no charge to go on the pier but there is a gratuity box available.

One of the loveliest seaside piers in its heyday and it is so nice to see that it is being renovated and restored. I cant wait to see it when it is finished

I grew up in Eastbourne and moved away in my teens... I holidayed back there recently and was able to appreciate it so much more being older. The pier is my favourite place! Sat with a pint looking out over the ocean or looking down the busy promenade! Love it.
