Visited with my mum and dad ; clean spacious tidy and a lovely reminder of old fashioned holidays - quite a few arcades - we had a go on the 2p machines which is always good fun - the fish and chip shop at the entrance to the pier was popular and the food looked tasty but beware the seagulls!!! There a few gift shops and lovely afternoon tea room complete with chandeliers again all reasonably priced, also a shops selling had made glass ornaments that you could see being made by hand there and then . The very end part of the pier was closed due to renovation work but the whole pier was well maintained and gave lovely views back to shore - quite different and considerably less commercial than Brighton pier which is lots more busy tacky and with big fun fair rides at the end

This is one of the highlights of staying Eastbourne - the pier and ocean view. At the pier, take the tourist bus (only a few pounds) to Beachy Head to see the chalk cliffs which are a geological wonder,
