My second time there and you cannot help being taken in by the historical nostalgia of the preserved architecture and because it's extremely popular it's worth getting there early as it gets packed! Loved Jack and the Beanstalk there.

Out of the two prominent theatres I’ve been to in Eastbourne, Devonshire park excels at stunning architectural design and smaller but more refined plays. The comedy always seems to hit the mark, and the actors really capture the theatrical spirit of convincing the audience that they’re having a good time too, not just the crowd. There’s even benefit to seeing the same show more than once, as the staff are professionals and do a great job ad-libbing and improvising to compound the humour. Don’t sleep on this theatre, it will give you an incredible night out.

The play was excellent, however the so called background music was too loud. Then, when the music was played for the introduction of each scene the musical intro was VERY uncomfortable and VERY LOUD. This is the first time we have ever experienced this level of discomfort at the Devonshire Park Theatre and we have been going there for over 40 years. We do not want to go home feeling like we had just been to a rock concert and it distracts from the overall experience.

Lovely traditional theatre, lovingly looked after by the Friends of the Devonshire. Great variety of plays and shows, over the years we have seen some excellent productions some worthy of the west end but at much more affordable prices.
