To celebrate my birthday 4 of us decided to have afternoon tea at The Cumberland and it was first class.
There are various options available for afternoon tea but we chose the Cumberland Tea which included everything and was superb and excellent value for money. 2 of our party could not have butter or spread, but this was no problem particularly as I had mentioned this when we made our booking. However the member of staff who took our order (Tom) double-checked this request when he took our order.
We spent a very enjoyable couple of hours eating our way through our sandwiches, cakes and scone (complete with clotted cream and strawberry jam) and left very content and exceedingly full. Tom also ensured that our tea pot was regularly topped up.
Thank you, Cumberland, for making my birthday extra special.
We will be back!

We come here every year for a great get together all arranged by Mick King and we have a lovely weekend m. Bus along the front to either Brighton or go the other way to Hastings. Rooms are ok and roomy and the staff are all hard working and we love it here. If you love curry there is a lovely one within a five minute walk into town.

All in all this is a perfectly good seaside middle of the road hotel. The staff were smart and happy, they seem to understand the elderly client very well...The bar had a good selection of beers, wines and spirits.

As TOPNOTE EVENTS, we organised a music weekend of 3 nights at this hotel on a yearly basis. We, as a group of over 100, have always received a lovely warm welcome and the food has been second to none. This year, the staff and management have surpassed themselves. This last weekend has been an absolute delight - A massive thank you to ALL the brilliant staff!
See you all again in Feb 2018

Stayed here before, and this time was even better. Got a very large twin room with sea view and sofa in room. Large bathroom as well. Hotel had lots of space for our organised event, and the staff always were very helpful at all hours of the day. Breakfast had a good number of choices as well. Would highly recommend for anyone going to Eastbourne, only about 10-15 minutes from the station.
Small negative: they don't accept American Express credit cards

Good room overlooking sea & prominade. Staff very pleasant. Plenty of tea/coffee & biscuits in room. Excellent cleanliness.
Breakfast 10/10 but evening meal 7/10. Good entertainment every evening. Could recommend.
The Cumberland Hotel is a very pleasant venue, with polite and friendly staff, highly recommended!

Tonight was our 3rd #EBtweetup at the Cumberland Hotel. There has been a little feedback after each event of “what would be nice if” and I have to say they staff have really gone all out to make us feel at home and accommodate our requests. I have held many coffee meetings in the lounge and been impressed at how quickly the staff have remembered me by name! Thanks for being a great venue and all you do to support our events.
Went to the Cumberland for a meeting this afternoon, and wanted to leave a review as the staff were very attentive. Great customer service.

I recently stayed at The Cumberland Hotel in Eastbourne. It was in an excellent position - right on the sea front not far from the pier. The hotel was spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was lovely but the evening meal was a little disappointing. It was obvious that renovation work was in progress as two of my friends had a beautiful room at the front with a balcony. Another friend and myself had a room on the 4th floor (top) at the back which was very clean but quite dated. The bathroom had been renewed but the windows in the bedroom looked as if they were about to drop out. There were high winds on the last night of our stay and the curtains were billowing making it a little cold. A big thanks to Phil who kept us entertained during our stay.

Travelled by coach, as one of only three ladies alone. Grateful for tea, coffee and biscuits reception. Lovely single room with sea view, and a most comfortable bed. A heater was delivered to the room very soon after reporting a chill in the air. Food was most acceptable, including the desserts, which were not out of a tin!. All staff were so welcoming, and the waitresses so friendly, yet professional. I shall certainly visit this hotel again. I already have the brochure for next year, and hope for less windy weather.

We had an amazing time at the Cumberland hotel in Eastbourne yet again. This is our sixth year of using this hotel for our dance weekend twice a year. The hotel is always spotlessly clean and the staff very helpful. Good was excellent catering for all forms of dietary requirements. The location is on the seafront only five mins walk away from anything. The town, the pier and pub and the tea rooms on the pier that our group enjoyed. The venue is ideal for linedance weekends and the staff are always polite. Thank you Elaine and your Team for all your efforts yet again. Superb job. We had 54 people this time and we have had up to 80 including 10
Non dancers so if you want a venue suitable to cater for a lot of people on the dance floor this is perfect !!

Arrived late oneFriday eve after a long dark journey, was only booked in for one night. on arrival there had been a mix up with our room, the receptionist on night duty (mike), was absolutely incredible, sorting out the problem and couldn't do enough to accommodate us. Had a lovely room (King Edward Suite) with a fantastic balcony over looking the front.. Breakfast was really nice. Only one small thing filter coffee would have been preferred. But all in all a brilliant stay and would not hesitate to recommend or re visit myself.

Right on the sea front, good food, friendly and helpful staff. A good dance floor. Our second year here. Highly recommended. We can see the pier from our balcony. The sound of the sea crashing against the pebbles is exhilarating.

The team at the Cumberland Hotel have really impressed me. From my initial enquiry to use their venue for the #EBtweetup to the ongoing communication for the events. I have also had a number of coffee meetings here and again the staff have all been really friendly and helpful. The icing on the cake so far has to be the afternoon tea. I was able to catch up with a member of thebestof for a couple of hours in a very relaxed atmosphere to discuss a few things but mainly being social. I hope to make the a regular event as the scones, cakes and sandwiches were lovely.
Reply from Cumberland Hotel Eastbourne: Thank you so much for your kind words David R, we're so pleased you're enjoying your visits and we look forward to hosting more events with you in the future.
On recently visiting the Cumberland Hotel, we found the staff lovely and the room the EBtweetup was held in lovely and spacious, we shall hopefully be returning to try their afternoon Tea, which sounds lovely
It was nice to visit the Cumberland Hotel recently for EB Tweetup. We must return to try the afternoon tea.

Room big, great sea view, beautiful view of band stand. Reception was very organised one girl was very friendly throughout our stay. Night entertainment was a giggle me and Mum won the bingo very laid back atmosphere, really enjoyed it. Great location, 10 min walk into town for shopping. Parking was always easy with £1 permit from reception. No wifi in rooms which was a lil bit of a shame as your right next to three pokestops lol x Rooms were always very clean, cleaners done a great job all throughout the hotel it was spotless. Breakfast was lovely with your name tag on your table. Plenty to eat and cooked nicely. Would defo recommend to friends.

Fraying at the edges and not particularly good value - £90 for a double with breakfast.
Creaking floorboards are almost amusing once you get used to them.
Clean and tidy with comfortable beds, so no complaints there.
The reception could be a lot more welcoming but maybe we arrived at a bad time.
Acceptable but would plump for Premier Inn next time.
