In association with The Year of Food and Farming, The 2008 Essex Young Farmers Country Show is one of the greatest family events in the Essex rural calendar and all the Essex YF have been putting a great deal of time and effort into getting their annual event ready for the public.

Their show is unique, in that it is organised by a dedicated team of volunteers who work on the showground in the preceding weeks, and also throughout the year, managing and coordinating the various areas of the show.

Volunteers are all members of the 10 Essex Young Farmers Clubs, which are scattered all over Essex. Their age range covers 16 - 26 years and members come from all walks of life, not just farming families, to get involved in learning and developing life skills and experiences through the activities and training opportunities on offer.

The proceeds from the show go towards running year-round activities, and also towards their charitable causes. They also allow them to employ two full time members of staff, without whom, the show would not take place!

The show has evolved greatly over the years and is strongly supported by sponsors from the local area and the agricultural industries. The show would not be the same without the support of the Agricultural dealers and suppliers, who will be there in force and taking pride in their displays, competing for the annual prize of Best Large and Best Small Trade Stands.

This year they are wholly supporting "The Year of Food and Farming". Many areas of the Show will be supporting this scheme, educating and demonstrating the values of healthy living and buying local, and how our food comes from the ground and fields to our dinner table.

"Mission Possible" is their fund-raising campaign aimed at building a permanent home and meeting venue for their headquarters. The Essex Young Farmers Show is an opportunity for Mission Possible to reach a wider audience, and get more people involved in the fund raising events that they hold. It is also an opportunity for the public to gain an understanding of who they are, what their development plans are, why they are doing it, what they have done so far, how we can help them reach their £350,000 goal.

Essex YFC has 300+ members in 10 active clubs:

Ashdon & Saffron Walden, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Colchester, Dunmow, Halstead, Maldon, Ongar, Southminster, and Wix.

All clubs, and the County Federation, are Registered Charities

Members of Essex Young Farmers are aged from 16 - 26 years old and deserve our support in reaching their targets.
