Essex Young Farmers County Show

Essex Young Farmers Country Show is being held on Sunday 18th May at our new location of Boyton Hall Farm, Roxwell, situated just off the A1060, and the day begins at 10am. On offer is a wide variety of attractions, games, and displays that will keep the whole family entertained for the entire day.

The main ring attractions this year are not to be missed. This year we have the fantastic and hair-raising Royal Signals White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team! We also have a live display from the highly skilled Wandsworth Parks Police Dogs Team, the Gus Dermody Sheep Dog Display, the Essex Land Rover Club Display, Vintage Tractors, and the high speed madness of the Pony Club’s Mounted Games

There is also the fast paced action of the Super Young Farmers Competition, and to round off the day, the annual and hard fought Essex Young Farmers Tug of War Final!

Around the showground are many specialist areas, including The Food Court and Craft Hall. This is your chance to experience high value products, from handmade jewellery to natural skin care. You can also sample and buy some of the finest home grown and local produce and delicacies available today. A new addition this year is our Local Beer Festival where you will find a variety of guest ales, lagers and ciders from around the South East for you to enjoy.

Over in the Forestry area, you will be able to watch and learn about that art of tree felling,  get a close look at traditional crafting techniques such as wood turning, and stand in awe of the Axe Display Team that will be there showing off their high speed lumbering skills.

The Horse Area has evolved this year. Here, you will find entertaining attractions, including The Shetland Steeplechases, a Dressage Quadrille and the family favorite, Heavy Horses.

Within the Livestock Area, there will be lots to see and do for all the family. The Sheep Show takes a fun and informative look at various breeds of sheep, including a live shearing demonstration showing you how to get from wool on a sheep's back to a jumper to wear! Don’t miss the Rabbits and the Rare Breeds too.

One show definitely not to be missed is
“The Sheep Show Shuffle”!!
Yes, that’s right, dancing sheep! Children certainly will be entertained!!

The part of the show where the Young Farmers can show off and share their experiences, creative skills and expertise, can be found in the Exhibition Hall. Here you will find numerous entries with classes from cookery, metal work, photography and many others, all of which will be based around the theme of “The Year of Food and Farming”.

With all this excitement you will undoubtedly need a little time to relax and recuperate, so why not visit our Tea Rooms offering the best in fresh cut sandwiches and home made cakes. There is also the Bar, and Beer Festival. You also could visit one of the numerous Catering Greens.

All areas of the show are organised and run by Essex Young Farmers members. May we welcome you to our big show and trust you will have a very enjoyable day!!
