I can’t really believe we are into November and its only 6 weeks to Christmas! Over the coming few weeks I shall be giving hints and tips on presents to buy for your loved ones, but before the presents - Have you ordered your Turkey or is going to be Salmon or indeed Goose this year?
I have to say my favourite is Goose and it is usually during the festive season that I decide to give my guests and myself a treat. A 12-14lb Goose will certainly feed 6 with a little left over for Boxing Day.
Recently we had a really traditional family Christmas. My sister and her family were over from the States and my younger sister and her sons and respective partners, together with my brother and sister-in law and my Mother all descended on me for Christmas Day lunch. 13 sat down to a late lunch. On this occasion Turkey was on the menu but I was advised by my butcher not to have a huge 20lb Turkey but to have two Turkeys about 12lb each as so much more flavour and he was right.

Whilst you are ordering your meat do think about New Year. Last year we served Venison with chocolate sauce completely yummy.
