Buy Local is the keystone to all that we do here at thebestof Cardigan and Teifi Valley and we love discovering new businesses to shout about and here is why!
We believe that the needs of consumers, producers and our environment are inter-dependent, and that community enterprise can be used to improve the links between all; businesses, charities, schools and councils and this naturally leads to a better quality of living for all.
When we reach out to those around us and engage in meaningful exchanges we are all rewarded.
No doubt we are spoiled in south Ceredigion, with our stunning views and beaches, but also with our distinct range of artisans and local producers, producing high quality products, across the board, from award winning fare to quality craft work. We can also, uniquely, boast a year round supply of crab and lobster and Coracle caught sewin and salmon during the summer months. Along side mackeral, sea bass and pollock and Cardigan Bay scallops in the winter! Supplying locals, supporting local establishments and enticing visiting fishermen!
The difference, however, is not just in the goods but in the service. Locals know the importance of chatting! Customer service, here, is less about a sale and more about an exchange and a shared rewarding experience. There are many independent retailers that recognise this and also great service providers that consistently go the extra mile.
Now for those that think that, that this is all well and good but what about the cost? Buying Local really does have a strong economic benefit also, a recent study found that by buying local produce, every penny spent circulates around the local area three times before leaving. If that is compared to money spent at the major supermarkets, almost every penny leaves the local area as fast as you can spend it.
Happiness is as simple as a smile and recognition for a job well done at the right price.
Help us expose the local heroes for which nothing is too much trouble and get sharing!
