Weekend snowfall, as well as freezing conditions, have caused chaoes on roads around Cambridge today, with several accidents taking place during rush hour this morning on the A14 and A1.

The smashes, which caused tailbacks across the region, began around 7:30am and continued for several hours afterwards, causing delays and frustration for commuters across Cambridge.

Cambridgeshire Police have issued a hazardous weather warning to motorists across the region, urging them to take care and only drive if strictly necessary until conditions improve.

The winter weather looks set to continue for the remainder of this week with harsh frost and ice predicted for most of Cambridgeshire.

The BBC Travels News website lists traffic information for the whole of the UK; motorists are encouraged to check conditions in their local area before setting off on their journey.
