From the 23rd June to 8th July, markets across the UK will be offering special deals to those of you who wish to pop along to your local market.

‘Love your Local Market’ is providing an opportunity for people to support local businesses and bag themselves a bargain at the same time. However it is not all about the shoppers; this event gives local budding entrepreneurs the chance to try out a low-cost route into the retail market.

Over 300 local markets are taking part in ‘Love your Local Market’ fortnight – a campaign that that has seen organisations across the UK joining forces to champion local businesses.

With internet shopping and vast shopping centres providing an easier alternative to mooching around your local market, the future of our high streets are threatened. I am a culprit of shopping from the comfort of my sofa, but I am also extremely aware of the unemployment issues that refuse to go away. For this very reason I will be peeling myself away from the PC and taking a leisurely stroll around Cambridge market. This is a chance for all of those people who are struggling to find work to get on the ladder to success and benefit from the experienced mentors that will be on hand to provide advice. Young entrepreneurs are in the perfect position to take a step towards becoming a business owner; the Government has committed over £80m  to provide start-up loans, expert advice and personal training to help those who wish to start their own business.

If you are not interested in being behind a stall, get yourself down to the market anyway because you are sure to be greeted by friendly faces and a heap of bargains. It is time to support our local businesses so head on down to Cambridge market and ‘Love your Local Market’!

Cambridge is a market city; the historic market square has been home to trading stalls for many, many years. There is a diverse range of goods being sold; including books, clothes, food and garden plants. This is the perfect chance to experience market life at its fullest.
