Lovely hotel some damp in parts but for a place with unique features nice views and fantastic staff I can live with a dripping roof on a landing. Pool area good it's a shame the sauna is not mixed but we could use the steam room together gym was small but had lots of weights and machines. The food was really nice we had the set menu at £22pp breakfast was like every hotel. Surcharge on bill at 10%

I was working in Bolton for a month, I stayed for the first week at a different hotel and chose to move to a better quality hotel for the remainder of the month. The Mercure was reasonable though for the first week I was there the toilet in the room didn't flush properly and the shower was virtually unusable despite requests at reception for these faults to be rectified. The food served was good, on an evening I generally had the fixed menu. Despite the plumbing the room was comfortable though the TV and WIFI was hit or miss which caused me some problems responding to emails. I didn't get the opportunity to use the leisure facilities. The staff were generally friendly. I would stay here again for business purposes.

My wife and I stayed ay this hotel in a classic room.
I asked at the time of booking for a quiet room, which was allocated, room 325.
For a small fee you can upgrade your room. If in doubt phone them and ask!
There is a spa and swimming pool on site.
A rather good breakfast each morning and extremely friendly and hard working staff were on duty. We will book again.
If you like a drink, you pay Hotel prices, so be aware! There are bars and pubs within five minutes drive.

Very good value for money, good spacious rooms and comfortable bed, also very good level of cleanliness. Ideal location for Bolton and surrounding areas.

Friendly, helpful staff on hand.

Could include breakfast in the price though.

Spent one night in this hotel and checkin was effortless and efficient and a warm welcome was received from the friendly staff. Restaurant staff at both dinner and breakfast were friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. Room very bright, clean and quiet. Will recommend to friends and would not hesitate to stay again. Excellent service in all areas.Thank you to all!

Stayed hear to visit family, on arrival felt the receptionist was rather frosty. Not what you expect on a people facing roll. We were checked in & arrived at our room that was a good size with everything we needed. The bathroom needed some work & the toilet didn't flush properly. We had drinks before going out in the bar which was a very nice area. The following morning the breakfast staff were very friendly & efficient & served a lovely fresh breakfast. Later in the day we needed to speak to reception again & this time another person was staffing the desk but her attitude was probably worst than the the previous person. I cannot understand Management putting staff on a desk that is customer facing with no people skills. There was a Xmas party that evening & the event coordinators were so very friendly to us as we were going out for the evening, shame couldn't be said the the front of house. Other than that we had a good stay.

I booked this hotel for the hubby and I on an £89 dinner and bottle of wine, bed and breakfast deal-a nice night away from the baby! Unfortunately not long before we were due to travel I was hospitalised with pneumonia and as our hotel date approached I was still quite unwell. I contacted Mercure to see if we could get a refund or even change the date of travel, they said no. We use Mercure 3 or 4 times a year on these deals so we were a little disappointed that they couldn't do anything for us, however not wanting to lose the money paid we decided we'd give it a go and hopefully try and enjoy a rest.

On arrival and check in we asked the receptionist Claire if we could do the privilege upgrade (we thought we might as well have a nicer room as we would be spending most of our time in it!) no upgrades were available, however Claire, on seeing that I was quite poorly, offered us a complimentary upgrade to a suite. We thought this was a very kind and lovely gesture so thank you for that Claire.

The room itself was spacious and clean. Probably the only two things that let it down slightly were the poorly flushing toilet and the lack of air-conditioning/temperature control (something the hubby and I think is a must in a modern hotel). We ended up spending the afternoon watching a film in the room (again sorted by Claire after there was a programming fault with the TV).

We attempted dinner in the restaurant on the evening. It was very quiet when we arrived and after receiving our bottle of wine, another member of staff, Isabel, could see I was quite unwell and went and got me a large jug of water to have instead. She was very attentive and so kind in looking after us (as was the other waiter but we didn't get his name I'm afraid). The food itself was really good quality, both the hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed what we had. Unfortunately the restaurant didn't have air-conditioning either and halfway through our main course I took a turn for the worse so we had to leave rather quickly. We were quite disappointed that we didn't get to finish our main meal, never mind get the chance to sample the puddings that looked fab!

Breakfast the next morning was the let down to this hotel. Very cold and limited choices (no eggs out of any kind, hash browns…) and staff were pretty non existent (other than someone came to ask us to move from the table near the window to further into the room-not what I wanted when I wasn't feeling the best…)

All in all I think we are pretty gutted about our stay here, we didn't really get to enjoy it in the way we would've liked. However I do think we will be back at some point, the hotel overall seemed really nice, we need to finish our dining room experience properly and try out the leisure facilities that we didn't even get to see never mind try out.

Certainly worth paying the upgrade to executive if you want good work space and a lovely refurbished room. Friendly staff and the food service was great.
I would recommend this hotel, the leisure facilities are a bonus and I enjoyed a much needed good night sleep in a comfy clean bed.

Having recently had a very disappointing stay at another Mercure hotel, I was hoping it was a one off. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
The welcome was friendly and the receptionist was very nice.
My advice would be not to eat here, but definitely avoid the room service.
About 45 mins after ordering a single meal, I called to ask how long it might be. Someone put the phone down on me, and miraculously my meal appeared 5 mins later.
The meat was dry and the chunky chips were soggy - I suspect it had been sat waiting to be delivered for some time.
The shower was shockingly bad as well.
However, the room was lovely and cosy and the bathroom was clean.
On check out, the receptionist had no record of the room service so couldn't charge me but it wasn't worth paying for anyway!
In addition, I wasn't asked how my stay was.

Both events were simply wonderful, the food fantastic & the service flawless. I didn't stay overnight for either function as I live locally, but other guests said how comfy the rooms were & a great breakfast in the morning. The staff were always helpful & friendly & the hotel always clean & grounds looked after. Will definitely be back again, hopefully to stay overnight

I stayed here on business at the recommendation of a friend who's son used to work here.

I can't fault the level of customer service, and the standard of the accommodation. Although the room I stayed in was a little tired and the decoration bland, it was spotless, the bed was very comfortable.

The food in the restaurant was amazing and the service again was great, and I would recommend eating here, just sad I didn't have room for a sweet, they looked delicious!
Breakfast was buffet style, but everything was hot and the quality was brilliant, coffee was free flowing and even though we were chatting and not eating no one tried to rush us out.

If I was to pick out one thing that stood out it was the standard of customer service, the staff's attention to detail was better than some 5* hotels I've stayed in, Chris the manager was very friendly and especially helpful when the first room I was given smelled of smoke - my room was changed immediately.

Cant fault this place, the staff obviously work hard to make their customers welcome. It was appreciated.

Me and my partner shared a double room for my works do. Our room was lovely, great size and was a lot nicer than when we first stayed a long while ago. Staff are under new management I believe and was ordering people out of rooms and frequently confronting people about if they're drinking the bars alcohol and not bringing in their own. The bare is ridiculously over priced so it's virtually impossible to have more than a couple without being a millionaire. However, I do understand that they have to be vigilant as it is their rules but maybe if prices were more reasonable, people wouldn't have to take their own. Even staff agreed it was extortionate!
The hotel itself if lovely and great facilties, for example restaurant and pool.
Breakfast was absolutely stunning. Would stay again.

Clean and tidy but a bit worn around the edges. As a business stay this hotel provided all I needed, comfy bed, free wi-fi, decent bar meals and all at a very reasonable price. Also has decent leisure facilities if you feel that energetic after a day's work. Will stay here again.

Mercure Georgian House at Bolton is absolute value for money, just £67 for a Saturday night stay - clean room with everything I needed (nothing fancy but definitely comfortable) and such genuine, friendly, helpful hotel staff!
It's not a luxury hotel, but neither are the prices.. And this was honestly some of the loveliest customer service I've had in a hotel in a long time. Well done Mercure at Bolton!

Nice big clean room, a bit dated but fine. Asked for and got a room at back of hotel overlooking Rivington. Thanks to Carrie on reception for that. All staff were friendly. Food was good breakfast is buffet style. As with most hotels drinks are expensive. But there is a pub called the poacher about 10 mins walk away a bit old fashioned but very friendly, drinks reasonably priced and a good selection of real ales. There is a retail park about 5 mins drive away which also homes a cinema and bowling alley, and Boltons macron stadium.

I frequently stay here in a Privilege room as that way you get Wi-Fi and movies included within your room rate as well as a larger room and it makes for a nicer stay.
The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable and come with handy toiletries in the bathroom and if you forget anything e.g toothbrush you can buy this from reception.
The lobby bar is open plan and has no atmosphere and service can be a little on the slow side as staff have to multi task.
The food is nothing special on my last stay I had one of their speciality burgers it was overpriced and very average, in fact the hand cut chips were clearly thrown into fat that wasn’t warm enough to cook them, yet they were served to me limp and soaked in grease.
Breakfast which was freshly cooked to order as not a lot of guests were staying in the hotel was clearly provided via a deep fat fryer, really not the standard you expect.
I will stay here again but I will be giving the restaurant a miss.

Two night stay with my five year old visiting grandparents nearby. Very reasonable price. Great size room. Very friendly welcome and super staff. That said, beds were a bit too soft and room equipment a bit basic. Shower not that powerful. Breakfast buffet a bit u sophisticated. Overall, hotel is undoubtedly a bit on the dated and worn side in terms of decor. But as I said, good value and great staff.

Had a great New Year's Eve party at the Georgian House Hotel....From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and super helpful. The facilities were first rate and we enjoyed a swim, sauna and spa before the nights festivities. The food was excellent and the entertainment was first class....Late breakfast and check out made the whole experience complete

Stayed in a disabled room which was a little tired but had all the facilities you would expect. Disabled parking right outside front door.
Need to offer porridge and grapefruit juice for breakfast but the quality of the cooked food was excellent and they bought it out freshly done.
There were stairs down to the breakfast buffet and it would have been good to have had a lift there as one was in the bar for only 2 steps!
Used the spa and that was good value and professional.
Staff all very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Location close to main road but noise didn't seem to be a problem. Rooms were basic but clean and spacious. Breakfast was OK, if a little bit overcooked and excess of oil in the trays. Big let down was customer service where you could wait for an eternity to be served at the bar with the staff disappearing at regular intervals. When they did appear they were surly or disinterested and in the case of the night porter (Colin) extremely rude.
They would shut the bar without any notice and never asked if we wanted a drink before they closed, which is definitely not what you expect in a hotel especially around the 11pm time. On voicing complaints at checkout this was again treated with a "so what" attitude. Would put this place bottom of your list if you need a hotel in this area!.
