Stayed here on my own for two nights as part of a coach tour visiting the Coronation Street Tour in Manchester. Though paying a single supplement, I had a very large room (321) with corner sofa. Good room, clean and well designed, bathroom large with bath and good shower, good towels, toiletries, very comfy bed, flatscreen tv. This room faced the busy road and at night I had to shut the windows because of the noise but quiet afterwards. Our tour was half-board, very good breakfast (buffet style) and three course evening meal, choice of starter and desert and buffet main, good food, good choice with glass of wine on the first night. I used the pool which was very good. Very friendly staff. Good parking. The bar prices were a bit expensive £8 for a large glass of wine.

spent two days at this excellent hotel which was the venue for a two day residential conference. We return each year as this is such a good hotel. It is conveniently situated for travel being just a a couple of minute off the M61. Beware of the red camera next to the hotel. You are in 40 mph on the A6!!!
The reception is efficient and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I slept through the night without a problem which is unusual for me on the first night of a stay.

Breakfast and dinner are both well served. We had a limited menu as it was a conference package. But the food was always excellent. Also hot snacks can be bought from the bar or there is always room service. The bar prices are quite expensive but no more than I expect in a good hotel.

The staff are s joy. They are well mannered and so helpful. Thank you. The young people are well trained by an excellent senior management team. I would especially tank Bruno, Victor and the lady who cared for us a lunch on Tuesday to make sure every one was seated and fed..

There is also a pool with a gym for those who like abyss sly experience!

Though this was for a conference I would recommend it gif any occasion. It was sad to leave after a very good stay yet again. Thanks guys

Just had my wedding reception at the Mercure Hotel. Just one word sums up the hotel, facilities and service - Fantastic. Thanks to Sue for organising everything and to Louise for running the wedding. The staff were brilliant and myself and my husband could not fault anything. Thank you so much for giving us a special day we will remember for the rest of our lives x

We held our wedding day here this month, & I can't thank the staff at the hotel enough for playing such a big part in making the day what was-absolutely fantastic!! From start to finish, Sue our wedding co-ordinator was brilliant & helped us every step of the way. She answered every question we had over the months, was extremely accommodating with any request that we had, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel accommodated in every way possible. Louise, looked after us on the day and was and absolute star. As the bride, I had nothing to worry on about on the day as Louise took care of everything, the day ran perfectly thanks to Louise. The lady on reception, I think her name was Angela, was also lovely & helpful throughout our stay!

This hotel has great staff, which gives the place a lovely atmosphere!! We had a perfect day, and all the guests commented what a great day it was. Rooms were clean & comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. Breakfast lovely with lots of choice. A big thanks to the girls at Envy Hairdressers based at the hotel who did my hair, great girls & did an amazing job!

Food at our wedding breakfast was also good everyone enjoyed a wonderful meal with good wine. If you are thinking of holding a wedding I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I'm so please that our wedding was held here! As soon as we walked in to enquire about holding our wedding here, we felt instantly comfortable & welcome. Thanks for everything Mercure Georgian House!! :)))))

Stayed 1 night in Sept 2014 whilst away with work.

There is plenty of parking at the hotel, and the welcome at reception was very good. Check in was brisk, and plenty of information was imparted about the hotel.

The room was small, and was a little tired. Grouting in the bathroom was a little mouldy, but was what you would expect for a 3* hotel.

The gym was reasonable with a 3 running machines, a couple of rowers, and a bike, along with a variety of weight machines and a free weights area.

Dinner was a disappointment. I ordered the linguine with squash, spinach, walnuts and mozzarella. Sadly both nuts and mozzarella were missing.

Breakfast was reasonable with a decent hot and continental selection of foods.

I wouldn't rush back here, but it was a fair stay.

Have stayed here quite a lot recently and find it a reasonable hotel to stay on. Decent pool, gym and facilities, and not a bad breakfast either. Staff could be better and food is quite pricy but on average not a bad hotel! Will be back but only for business, wouldn't bring the family.

we stayed in sept this year and were very pleased with the hotel, the price was reasonable and the staff were exceptional the breakfast was 5 star in quality and presentation, this place should go on any short list you have for the area, though a room at the rear would be less noisy than the front due to the busy main road.

Stayed here for one night whilst attending a wedding. The wedding was fantastic as were the staff, very friendly and helpful.

The bar prices were so expensive, as a frequent traveller I know I will pay over the odds but £18 for a white wine and a double gin and tonic is taking it too far, we are in Bolton not london!!!

My wife and I stayed overnight for a wedding. Everything at the hotel was pretty standard.

It is in desperate need of redecoration in parts and it is a little shabby.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate but not anything special.

Considering the cost of the stay there is probably hotels of a similar standard, or even nicer, within a few miles that are much cheaper.

The hotel was lovely, staff were friendly. The only problem we had was we were in a Family Room which was directly above one of the Function Rooms, on Saturday night there was a party on which was very very loud.

Happy weekend at this hotel recently. The room was fine with comfortable bed and a wonderful views of the moors - dark threatening clouds and stunning rays of sunshine. The booking and check in procedures were easy and welcoming - very nice helpful receptionist. Ditto with check out.
the bathroom was a bit dated but clean and works OK. The staff are very friendly, especially the breakfast waitresses who were wonderful - constantly smiling, very efficient and really helpful. Their patience with the coach groups was exemplary.
The bar area was a bit crowded much of the time as there were several parties/weddings and coach groups staying but it wasn't a real problem. There was some noise from the parties but it wasn't overwhelming. The gardens are really pretty and well kept, and the pool is a welcome bonus.
The hotel is conveniently located near the M61 and isn't noisy despite being on a main road. Lots of parking behind the hotel

Fixtures and fittings pretty jaded all round; rooms clean if not very spacious; beds comfortable enough.
Food (breakfast) very disappointing though - no buffet available as not many guests staying and 'potato rosti' turned out to be the boiled potatoes from the previous evening fried up! Quality of other items not great either.
Staff all very pleasant and helpful.

We were going to a weding locally and needed a base, the hotel provided a good standard of accommodation , a comfortabke large bed, friendly staff and a breakfast better than many. We stayed in a suite, well worth the extra money for the additional room and facilities.

We would like to thank all the amazing staff here. Our wedding was perfect in every way from the moment we got there to the moment we left. The hotel, the food and the service was to perfection. We want to say a massive thank you to sue who was amazing with all the details, Dominique and Irene we can't thank you enough a true credit to the hotel and two lovely ladies. And lastly Carl who looked after me from the morning of the wedding and then both of us to the end of the evening, you were truly amazing. Special memories of a special day. All we have had is compliments from all our guests. Thank you again. Alison and Mathew x

Stayed here 25th and 26th July 2014, unfortunately it was 2 of the hottest days of the year with temperatures ranging from 27c to 31c, this hotel does not have air conditioning and the rooms were unbearably hot. Good facilities here with pool and spa etc and very handy for the motorway M61 with easy access for Blackpool, Manchester & Liverpool.
If staying I would advise asking for a room at the back, rooms at the front face onto a main road and can be very noisy.

My wife and I booked a short stay in Georgian House Hotel, Bolton. I have to say from the moment we arrived the staff were excellent, friendly and very attentive. The room was comfortable and the bed amazing 5 star comfort, although the fixtures were tired the room was very nice and spotlessly clean. Having stayed in many Hotels across Bolton and the world and consumed numerous breakfast they all paled into insignificance compared to the breakfast we received during our stay. The breakfast was excellent, Hot and very tasty everything was cooked to perfection. The staff in the restaurant were brilliant, nothing seemed to much trouble for them ensuring everything was okay from start to finish. We would recommend this Hotel to family and friends and intend making it our Hotel of choice when visiting family and friends in the future.

My friend and I stayed a couple of weeks ago, Lovely hotel, very good staff they couldn't do enough for you, friendly and professional, rooms spotlessly clean, our evening meal was included in the tour price, excellent, very tasty and fast service, great value for money, drinks in bar a tad pricey, but hey we were on holiday. Breakfast was perfect, love hotel breakfasts, buffet style so you could have as much as you wanted it, delicious! lots of little touches around hotel that show they do their best to please guests and they try to cater for everyone.
Overall if I am in this area again would have no hesitation in staying here, oh and they have a swimming pool, which we didn't try but will bring my swimming gear next time.
Thanks guys for making us so welcome.

Had 1 night stay with dinner and breakfast. Food good, staff fantastic and enthusiast and took the moments to listen and oblige, and at all stages/courses asked if our meal was okay and additionally you could share a quick laugh and joke with them. Across the board young and older staff brilliant. Room was very clean and comfortable. View from our room was superb.

We had the best day of our lives on Saturday 12th July and it was all thanks to the amazing staff here. We would like to say a special thank you to Carl and Marie for all your help. Carl on the big day and Marie with the pre wedding preparations. If it wasn't for you the day wouldn't of gone so smoothly, no request was to silly and they couldn't do enough for us. Absolutely fantastic day and we would definitely recommend them for your wedding. Amazing venue.
Thank you
Mr & Mrs Anderson.

I've been staying at the mercure on numerous occasions for a number of years now, whilst on business. It's always been my hotel of choice in the area - I prefer it to the one at the footie stadium down the road. Breakfast is well organised, very fast and with good choice of nice food; I've never tried the restaurant but the bar meals are fine. There's a pool etc., plenty of good parking, good restaurants within 5 minutes drive away, close to the motorway ( but no noise). Rooms are always clean as well.

Any downsides? Complementary bikkies in every room would be nice (they're only in the upgraded rooms); I also think the telephone charges are excessive also (charging £2 to connect to a freefone 0800 number being the worst example). The free wifi is a plus point, and seems to work well in the three separate rooms I've had in the past two weeks, as well as the bar area.

One of the best things about the hotel is that all the staff come across as genuinely friendly and helpful - I've never experienced any hint of the "plastic smile" which is often the case at many of the big chain hotels I've stayed in over the years. Recommended :)

I have visited The Georgian House Hotel on a number of occasions. It is a sound, good value-for-money hotel but what makes it special is the friendliness of the staff. My wife and I spent two nights at the hotel recently and our previous impressions were confirmed. Everyone we met - from the waiter in the restaurant and the breakfast staff to the bar assistant and receptionists - was very pleasant, cheerful, courteous and helpful. Again, thank you for doing your very best to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Staff very nice, food good with a welcoming atmosphere. Rooms starting to show their age but still clean and well maintained. rooms along the front of the building south facing, gathering heat when sunny, no air-conditioning and very busy and noisy road if you open the window. Traffic starts around 4.00am. The pool and gym are open to the general public so pool fills with children and observing parents after school. The gym is very good, plenty of equipment, good size with separate exercise area which hosts regular fitness classes.
