Visit for a residential conference for 5h year. The hotel is.mthe rooms are cleaned comfortable. Food is very good. But what makes this special are the staff. From the moment of arrival at reception to departure they. Could no have been better. This is everyone including the bright and pleasant girl hoovering the corridor outside the conference room. Your cheery hello was a great beginning to the day. The lady who made sure the conference ran well is to be mentioned. In the bar Ryan was a joy and has a career in service industry ahead - thanks. Well all bar staff too and those in restaurant. Manager go thank everyone. One con is the place was too hot!!! But then I would have complained if it was cold.

All in all the hotel was good. Main problem was that we couldn't find it. Perhaps a sign hadn't been put out? Not visible from the road in one direction and as we came back the other way we'd passed the entrance before we could read the sign. A bit more signage would help hapless travelers without a gps.

We Stay at the Georgian House regularly. They look after us very well and put us in the same room every time. The breakfasts are very good and we tend to eat out in the evening. Great value for money. We use the Mercure group a lot as you know what you are getting.

A very last minute decision drove me to stay overnight in Bolton and the company found this hotel. I had a suite in the roof, all was clean and pleasant. Bed was good. I had a meal in the restaurant and there was only me at first, with a couple of other guests occupying a couple of other tables later....it's a shame and I hope that is not typical occupancy as I found the food good (of it's type - Brasserie). The usual was there on the menu - fish and chips, curry, burgers (so that type of choice, fine for a night's stay or 2...if longer there is a very large retail park just about a mile away or so which has some restaurant chains if you want to have a change). I had the pizza and it was large (12 inch I imagine), so no mean affair and I will say it was as good as any i have had in Italy ! It filled me totally too. The young lady serving me (sorry, I did not get your name) was most pleasant and attentive and the cappuccino she made was excellent (and I did tell her so ). Not everyone gets cappuccino right ...this one reminded me of Italy again. Ok, maybe I'm overdoing the Italy now ... At breakfast al the usual was there ...even the Black Pudding which so many hotels now seem to have stopped (wahay ! other hotels take note ...time to re-instate the black pudding !). There seemed ample car parking by the way. Free Wi-Fi.

The hotel is a little away from the Horwich Parkway station and Reebok/Macron Stadium. The check-in was quick and the room was on the third floor which was only a flight of stairs above. The room was good sized, with tea and coffee facilities. There was a door joining an adjacent room which was fortunately closed on both sides. On the way down, I took the wrong stairs and reached the gym instead of the reception.

The wifi was free and of good speed, and the codes were written on a piece of paper in the room. The breakfast was a decent spread and the receptions staff were prompt in booking a taxi in the morning.

Overall, a good stay.

We stayed one night at Georgian House. It was a very nice place to stay. Our rooms
were on the back of the property and had nice view of the country side. The buffet
breakfast was great. The Georgian House has easy access to the M61 Motorway.

We stayed here in early August, two adults and three children in a family room. The room was a good size and the beds were fine for our needs. The room décor was certainly a bit dated and the bathroom in particular was a bit worse for wear, but everything was fully functional.
Views over the moors are indeed fantastic.
The real stand out about this place is the quality and friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much for them, and in many cases they went out of their way for us. With the kids we made a massive mess at breakfast, but they took this in their stride. We went to use the swimming pool, which is brilliant for kids, and we were provided with loads of toys and floats and so on.
I should also add that we were at the hotel because of my dad's funeral, he and my mum having lived close by. We also had the wake at the hotel and it was all very well done, with food, staff and facilities fantastic.
It is hard to give this place five stars because of the need for updates to the décor. But it is brilliant value for money and the human side of things is awesome.

First impressions - good, in fact so were the second and third. Rooms on the front suffer a lot from traffic noise which can't be helped if you want fresh air. There was a wedding party in, but it didn't really interfere with our night, except that we were just going to have a bar meal but the guests were waiting for their evening room to be set up and had invaded the bar area and taken all the seats. But we ate in the restaurant (and were the only ones until another couple right at the end of our meal). Food good, waiting staff friendly and efficient. Lovely romantic table for two by the window. Again here for breakfast (a bit steep at £10 per head, but there was plenty of choice) and of course you can eat as much as you want, if you can first thing. Our only complaint is that the shower pressure on the Saturday night when I suppose all the wedding guests were also using their showers, was no more than a dribble, but by the morning this was fine. We enjoyed the swimming pool and steam room

Stayed two nights, handy for the Macron Stadium and motorway links. It's very much a business hotel, the decor is dated and the rooms are fine for a night or two at a conference or as an alternative to pricier hotels in Manchester for a concert, but you wouldn't go for a special event. The pillows are extremely hard so if you need a soft pillow to sleep, take your own, and the lack of soundproofing between the rooms is an issue, I would recommend earplugs. The staff were friendly enough but it needs some money spent to bring it up to three star standard. Great views over the moors.

Have stayed at the Georgian House many times over the years, indeed this hotel was a party favourite from teens!

The current hotel is a strong business venue with excellent public areas and conference facilities, good food and a health spa with pool. The wifi is also actually very good unlike many venues that just advertise that.

If you're on a business trip or holding a conference I'd recommend

Stayed here on business for 2 nights on 4th September. I was pleasantly surprised given some of the reviews. Room was lovely, nice big bed and plenty of room. Food was nice, great breakfast and plenty of choice. The great trump card for this place was the lovely pool, Jacuzzi area and gym, just what I needed to wind down in the evenings. All staff that I came across were polite and friendly.
The only down sides worth noting for me was that the decor in the corridors is a bit tired and could do with a lick of paint and the service on the evening meal was a bit slow, but on the whole it was just fine. Although I stayed here on business I would consider staying here on a family break

The hotel is fairly large.
I had a very basic small room tucked up on the end of the 3rd floor.
The shower wasn't very powerful and ran between hot and cold without adjustment.
The bar and lounge area was good and breakfast was great.
Awful service for the evening meal though as we waited an hour and ten minutes from order to get our food and even then it wasn't that great.

I have used these conference facility several times over the past 3 months and keep forgetting to review the facilities...well here goes!! I have never been disappointed with the rooms and facilities which are always spot on, however, a big shout out has to go to Julie who is a constant performer when she coordinates the brews and food and any request is always dealt with, with an efficiency that is invaluable to a successful business!!!

I stayed here for two nights as it was near to where my friend was getting married. For the price I paid (£150 for two nights inc breakfast), I was really disappointed by the condition of the room. As mentioned in other reviews, it really does feel as though it is stuck in the 80's, particularly the bathroom. The rooms did get quite warm and stuffy and I was unable to find any air conditioning. This wasn't too much of a problem at night as I was able to open the window, but in the morning when several of us were getting ready for the wedding, we did have to prop the door open at one point to get some air circulating. Overall, this didn't affect my stay as I was able to get 2 good nights sleep and I found the staff to be warm and welcoming. The breakfast was good but I think £10 is quite expensive. Also, it may sound a little picky but no hash browns? Was quite surprised as most places serve this as part of a full English breakfast. I don't think what I paid was good value for money though as I was expecting a little more luxury. My parents stayed at the Premier Inn near to the Bolton Reebok stadium and paid £120 for two nights and the room quality was a lot better there.

The hotel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. We would return without any hesitation. For our purposes visiting friends this was ideally situated near the motorway and we have no complaints whatsoever.

Been going to this Mercure for over 4 years, the hotel is dated but needs a small upgrade. But this doesn't effect the overall stay, hotel is nice with everything that you need for business use. Rooms with sofa areas are better as they have more space to relax when staying a few days. Just need to ask reception if they have them free.
Food & drink is ok like most hotels and has room service is food.
They also have a gym which is down stair, is old but they are update the equipment at the moment.
Booking.com do great online deals so keep an eye out for them. Staff are great and very helpful so I can fault that at all, over all I would say it's a 3 1/2 to 4 overall.

This place is stuck in the past, and not the Georgian era that is so well trailed on the website. Its a bit more like the 80's, poor quality décor, some unusual smells, grim corridors, lots of mismatched signage all over the place. The staff varied between frazzled and cheerful. I suppose this might be a high quality hotel in Bolton, but it doesn't meet the needs of most international travellers. The best thing about it is that its cheap.

This hotel is located in Blackrod, about 10 mins drive from Bolton, about a mile from the football ground, and very easy to find with plenty of car parking to the rear.

The hotel is set in pleasant grounds with an open reception/bar area. Check-in was friendly and prompt, although no Le Club drinks were offered - this time I wasn't too fussed as I didn't really have time.

Mercure hotels tend to fall in to the very modern or the slightly aged. This hotel is definitely the latter, with room fittings and furniture being long past their prime.

The substantial gym/leisure centre downstairts falls in to the same category. It is a public facility but with ageing/unreliable/broke equipment and probably facing a lot of competition from upstart low cost facilities.

As a hotel it is nice enough but not luxury, and is in need of some serious investment, but if you know what you're getting (i.e. are used to the unpredictability toe Mercure brand brings) then it is fine.

Stayed one night for a wedding in the area. Lovely room, warm very comfortable. We were able to have a early check in for a small charge which was a great help for getting ready for the wedding. They prebooked a taxi to take us to the church. The breakfast was aboulslty gorgeous, buffet style . Considering the amount of people the food was fresh, piping hot and beautiful and plenty of it. Again the staff were very pleasant and obliging. Looking forward to going back.

I stayed here for one night as I have done on two previous occasions on business.
This is a good hotel if you know what to expect and what you are buying. It is not 5 star luxury and is a very tired hotel in need of serious investment. I would not recommend this if you are looking to impress a partner or to give you an unforgettable experience.
However if you want a clean functional hotel, great breakfast, reasonable quality evening meal, free WiFi that works, friendly staff and most importantly a bed that is so comfortable you won't want to get up, then this might be for you. The prices are low as they fairly reflect the hotels shortcomings.
Two issues I would highlight is when the restaurant is closed and guests with dinner included are expected to eat in the bar, the staff should know what the dinner allowance is. I received a larger bill than expected on check out due to being given incorrect information.
Secondly a bath used to accommodate a shower is generally unsuitable if the bottom of Bath is completely smooth. In such instances a rubber bath mat should be supplied. I slipped and hurt my knee as the shower was like an ice rink. Glad it was me and not some frail elderly person.

I understand that money is to be spent on rooms so look forward to seeing next year the improvements.

Travelled on a 4 day coach trip and the hotel was used as a base for visiting places of interest in the Lancs. area. Lovely clean comfortable rooms, and excellent food.and service in the restaurant.
Friendly and helpful reception staff and would definitely recommend this hotel.

We went with a coach party to this hotel and were really pleased with our stay. The hotel is clean, bathroom sparkling and all the staff were very pleasant, going out of their way to help. Good choice of food and well cooked. Can't fault it. I didn't hear one complaint from any of our party, so that speaks for itself.

The hotel is a bit rough around the edges to be honest, but Mercure often do good deals so we gave it a go and were pleased that we did.

When we arrived there was a wedding going on and the room we were allocated was literally right outside the function room. We were there for a family weekend and didn't fancy a massive party outside our door all night so reception were able to move us to a room further away.

I think there are 3 separate function rooms at this hotel, all capable of hosting weddings at the same so if you're there for a weekend, there's a fair chance you'll be sharing the hotel with some wedding guests. It's noisy and the bar is busy but the noise will stop at midnight (even after moving rooms, we could hear the music and chatter but it was more of an annoyance than a serious disturbance).

The next day, all the wedding guests leave and the hotel is transformed into a haven of tranquillity! It's still reasonably busy (coach parties come and go), but the guests don't shriek and shout, so it's a calm, pleasant environment.

The family room we shared was clean, comfortable and spacious, the bathroom was very 1980's but it did the job (and the Mercure shower gel smells lovely).

We only ate breakfast at the hotel, and it was a good standard buffet with lots of fresh fruit and farm-style bacon. Everything is self-service, including the tea and there's one of those furnace-conveyor-belt toasters. The dinner/room service menu was too expensive for us!

The changing rooms in the Spa are pretty grim (don't look up), and the gym equipment came off the arc (and has the rust to prove it), but despite that the Spa is still a pleasant place to be and seems looked after and clean - it's just old.

All in all, we enjoyed our trip and will go again if a decent deal is available, it's not The Ritz, but it's very good for the money.

Good location for the motorway but this hotel is very 80's in its dated fit out, although very clean my bedroom was reminiscent of a Hotel 20 years ago. The Bathroom was outdated with a Shower that just about got you wet.

Dinner was good and service attentive, the only thing I could fault was the Coffee. I ordered a Americano which tasted like a powdered or filter coffee that had been standing for a while, disgusting!. At Breakfast I tried a Coffee from the machine but ended up having Tea. I love good Coffee and most hotels seem to have caught on to the fact that this is important to guest. The Breakfast was hot and very good quality.

I did go for a Swim at the Leisure Club, I was told there were no lockers and I would have to leave any valuable's behind the reception area. Very poor show, when there were loads of empty Lockers but obviously not enough Padlocks to go around.. One thing I hate is being addressed a 'Bud' , I am a paying guest and expect to be treated in a professional way.

The reception staff at this Hotel go the extra mile to help and should be highly commended for the front of house attitude. Well done ladies.

This could be a great Hotel with a good location for Bolton but needs a bit of TLC and decent Coffee..

We stayed here for one night while attending a family party nearby.
Booked at the last minute through Tesco Clubcard, we thought perhaps we would get one of the 'lesser' rooms, especially as the hotel was fully booked when we arrived. However, we were welcomed kindly and given a really lovely, spacious room (standard double). For me, our room exceeded expectations for a standard double. There was a settee and the bed was HUGE.
The bathroom was also clean and a good size, with toiletries provided.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. We asked for some more milk for the tea and coffee making facilities in the room and were actually given a little jug of fresh milk. It's these little things that make you enjoy your stay.
The only thing I would have liked in the room is air conditioning. The room was warm, so we had the window open. Unfortunately, our room was overlooking the car park and we were woken by a coach with its engine running and reverse warning quite early in the morning, but the hotel can't really be blamed for the ignorance of a coach driver.
Free wifi in the hotel, which worked very well (no dropping of signal).
Overall, a lovely stay, thanks to the staff.
