Had an absolutely amazing wedding day, yes some parts of the hotel need updating but the staff and the service were excellent, very friendly, helpful, they went out of their way to help and to make sure everything went smoothly. Want to thank Sue and all the team for making it such a special day

Having family in this part of the world, we have been coming here for many years. There is always a great welcome and friendly service from staff old and new.
Like many hotels, in this price range, a number of the rooms usually on offer are not perfect, they may have decorative issue and be looking a little tired, but we have never had a problem with a dirty room or an uncomfortable bed. The meals have been great, with the breakfast being one of the best around, and where there have been minor problems these have been corrected swiftly. Just remember that if something is wrong then you need to TELL THEM for anything to happen!
You also need to be realistic, if you spend less than £150 for a two-night stay with dinner for two on the first night and breakfast on both days, then you are only looking at a price comparable with the likes of Travelodge or Premier Inn!
The dining room is in the old part of the hotel, with a lovely garden.
There is ample parking on site, at no cost, use of the pool and leisure facilities is included and you are about 4 minutes from the M61.
We have stopped here when there have been functions on, such as weddings, and never been troubled by excessive noise in the bedrooms or rowdy guests in the early hours.
Another thing to remember is that you are in the North of England where people tend to be more direct, which does not equate to being rude, a spade is a spade!
Over the years I have stopped here, at Whites and the Britannia at Wigan and without doubt the best value is to be found here.

I returned for my wedding anniversary meal which was included in my wedding package and all I can say was unbelievable. The food was delicious / wine went down very well and we even got complimentary pre starters. Lovey. Would 100% recommend to all. Thank you Mecure

Very standard chipboard hotel. The lovely photo they use does exist if you look from the right angle, but it's a total contrast to reality, wish I took some photos. Food is average to poor but presented well. Service is inconsistent, some staff can't help enough others not so much.
The rooms and reception are again very budget generic chain hotel style and ours was cleaned to an average standard.
All in, very average. We paid a premium expecting something unique based on the pretty photos but I wouldn't do this again. Just go to a budget hotel, get the same experience and save a load of cash.

Stay in a lot of hotels as a gold member of Accor I always leave feedback I had a few problems with the road noise and wasn't moved to another room and the bathroom is dated but overall had a good nights sleep would stay again.

Had a nice Easter break with wife and son. Choose hotel for its pool and location. Used pool, very nice, more than location as British weather let us down. Having said that there are lots of shops, restaurants and entertainment nearby if that's your thing. The hotel itself is more 1990's than modern but that's not so bad. Rooms were large and clean if a bit retro. Our only complaint was the showers. I described them as whimpy on checkout ours not to bad but son's not good.
Restaurant was OK reasonable value and fairly tasty without being great gastronome.
Would I return if back in this neck of the woods? If I could get the same deal "yes" full price perhaps not.
Very near to Bolton Wanderers Macron Stadium if you are into your footy

Would stay again. Came the night before we got married. Didn't have the wedding there. Stayed with my bridesmaids and we enjoyed the spa. Rooms were nice enough and had everything we needed for our stay. Set in pretty grounds. No complaints overall.

Was OK but for the money it looked a bit tired. Grand name at travel lodge quality.
Staff were very polite and helpful, the location was very handy for where we needed to be.
Bed was very comfy but we were next to the lift which was a bit noisy.

It's not easy to stay in love. Came back after more than 20 years only to find that not much has changed.
Had a very nice room again, bar is a little bit emptier, Food has remained great. The place is Close enough to town but far enough away to secure privacy and a very good atmosphere.

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights this month while visiting with family in the area.

Upon arrival, my wife and I were a little concerned with how small the room was. However after seeing 2 other rooms, we realized ours was one of the larger ones, for a standard room.

The rooms are well appointed with the standard items, hair dryer, coffee maker, TV, phone, etc.

The biggest thing we check for is cleanliness when staying in hotels. I have no complaints on this count at all. The room was well maintained throughout our stay.

The bathroom in our room appears to be recently renovated, was very nicely done and again spotlessly clean.

We dined away from the hotel each day so I cannot comment on this area, however my limited dealings with the various staff members on reception were all very positive and I found everybody to be very welcoming and helpful.

The hotel is located close to a major shopping complex, a minute drive from the motorway, yet also only a few minutes away from the piece and quiet of the countryside.

Overall we were very satisfied with our stay at the Georgian House.

Arrived around 11pm hoping to get some sort of dinner. 24hr room service consists of sandwiches & Panni for around £6 plus £5 tray charge.
I ordered a Prawn Marie Rose sandwich & was told it would take 20mins, but 20mins later I was called to be told there was no sauce and would I chose something else. Yes, anything I am really hungry 15 mins later my £11 sandwich arrived. I've attached pictures as I was so disappointed.
I didn't have breakfast.
Room & bathroom was clean if a little tired.

From the minute we arrived we were met by friendly staff, and after a mix up with our room, we ended up with free drinks and two rooms for the same price.

Although not new, the rooms are clean and nice. Everything is in the room from hair dryer to iron and ironing board. The beds are really comfortable, and not once was there noise in the corridors etc in the evenings.

The pool is warm and clean and at certain times we had the pool to ourselves.

We really enjoyed the breakfast choices and the price was good.

I would recommend this hotel, and we certainly will be back.

Second time here with the kids. Friendly staff. Clean room with ample space. Great selection of hot and cold food at the breakfast buffet. Free WiFi handy for technologically savvy kids. Will definitely come again.

I have stayed here regularly now over the past twelve months and standard of accommodation is consistently good. Rooms are clean and well maintained, free wifi and decent sized flat screen TV's in all rooms. The only negative I have is that the menu for evening meals is quite limited and when you stay on a regular basis it does get boring. There are a couple of decent restaurants within a short drive which helps. Buffet breakfast has plenty of choice and staff are always very pleasant. Not sure if I would recommend staying here for leisure, but as a business stop it is more than adequate. Also has a decent gym and pool for the more energetic guests.

Have stayed here twice recently on business trips. The hotel is well located just off the motorway and very close to the stadium. Rooms are large and spacious with comfortable beds. The bathroom suites are a little dated. Food is of a good quality although I have only eaten in the bar area. Generally a good hotel although drinks are a little overpriced.

Staying at the Georgian House Hotel for the first time, I found the staff be very friendly from checking inn, to the restaurant to the Gym and pool. The rooms were very clean and airy. I had the bar food menu which was well cooked and tasty. I used the Gym and pool and there seemed to be good banter between the regular members and the hotel guests which makes a refreshing change. The 42inch TV in the room also adds to the experience.

Recently stayed here for a week on business. The good points - Close proximity to motorway network with M61 junction about 3 mins away. Ample free parking round the back of the hotel, never saw it full even when conference faciities were being used. Free wifi with good signal strength. One of the better hotel pool / fitness centres I have used although always best to avoid tea / time early evening in the pool due to swimming classes taking place.
Good selection on the buffet breakfast - all you can eat, also free newspapers if you get down in time
Comfortable bed
The bad points... (These have all been communicated to the Manager via email)
Avoid the older rooms (up to 440), very dated in decor and fittings, like a step back in time to the late 80`s,
Working space very much reduced due to television taking up most of the table top. Hanging space in wardrobe greatly reduced by storing ironing board and fan in there and whith internal chest of drawers
Draughts round the velux window which also means road noise can filter through. Electronic keycards failed on 3 of the 5 nights.
Dated bathroom complete with cream suite and ancient shower with a poor flow rate. Had a couple of issues with the housekeeping service regarding replenishments..
Food and drink prices on the high side against comparable grade hotels, maybe this is because they feel they have a captive market, however there is an Indian restaurant down the road and loads of other places to eat on the Middlebrook retail park adjacent to the Macron Stadium about 2 miles away. As in previous reviews it would appear that the hotel has a stock answer when adverse comments about food and drink prices being high ie ... "We will forward your feedback to our central office, who set the prices"
In conclusion I would say that when booking, it seemed reasonably priced, however after staying there I feel it is over priced

This was our 4th visit to the hotel. We stayed in a family room on the 1st room, room was very spacious and clean. Staff very friendly. We stayed for evening meal and breakfast, both were very nice. We enjoyed our visit to the pool. Will definitely return again later on in the year.

Bleak mid Jan you expect hotels to be quiet and at times understaffed. The Mercure Georgian in Bolton exceeded my expectations in all areas. Good atmosphere and excellent knowledgeable friendly staff in all areas of the hotel from the front desk through to the bar restaurant and all their leisure and beauty facilities.

We have been going to this hotel on new years for a few years now and I have got to say everything stays the same except the evening meal which has been going downhill over the years, this year the main was duck which I have to say was awful it was tough and tasteless also the other courses were not up to much either,i think its a rethink next year which is a shame

Prior to booking the Georgian House, we did telephone them directly with regards to their pet policy. We were informed that we would be able to dine in the restaurant as Friday was "party night". They came across as very pet friendly, or so we thought. So we went ahead and booked bed and breakfast, including our dog to stay overnight. The price of the room was reasonable, however we have paid far less for more superior accommodation in Bolton and other areas. To be quite honest, my husband thought the room was ok, but the last time I stayed in the Georgian House (1988), it was far more luxurious and I believe it was 4*, not 3*. When we arrived the check in was very efficient and professional. However when we asked where the restaurant was, we were informed our dog would have to stay in the hotel room, that was unacceptable and also misleading from our initial call to the hotel. Having known that, we would not have booked the Georgian House. However it was party night, so we were reluctantly allowed to dine in there with our dog Bella. We had arranged for a close friend to dine with us that evening, so we were very disappointed that we had to take dinner in the cold and chilly bar area. The drink prices were extortionate, as was the meal prices. A main meal for three of us, with no drinks, was almost £60.00! Expensive for a 3* hotel. A round of drinks cost around £15.00. With wine, that would have added up to £100.00. We could't take breakfast in the restaurant or bar area, due to their pet policy. Breakfast in the room was provided (continental), trying not to be picky, but it was extremely basic. The toast arrived cold, the breakfast itself was very minimal. The accommodation was rather dated, with no character at all, pretty much clinical. Would not return to this Mercure Hotel. The window in the room looked like a skylight, and the hotel was very very noisy. Partying until 4 am.
