Stayed overnight for a family wedding - one of 3 weddings held that day. Check -in was good and rooms were ready for early check-in.
Wedding event was good but there were some issues with the bar - my husband stopped drinking as the beer was so bad!! Also drinks very expensive.
Room facilities good and breakfast excellent.
Checkout was a disaster - guests queuing round the reception area as only one member of staff on desk

Arrived in the early hours and received a room with a view, as requested, overlooking the green fields and woke up to cows in the fields, the following morning.

A very restful good nights sleep, in a, " to die for bed." I'm sure that they would not notice us taking it home in the early hours !!!

The very friendly young man, and lovely young lady made a fantastic team when my son and I attended for breakfast. Very clean, polite and extremely friendly service. And, it was service. I asked for poached eggs, and five minutes later, was served good quality and well cooked eggs. W ell done Chef, and thank you. There are still some people who can cook. You passed us on the stairs, and said, "Good Morning."
We complimented you via the fantastic team. Why? because, we really enjoyed our breakfast experience. Excellent service, and well cooked food. You really should roll out the Chef's mushrooms, as they were exquisite. Flavoured with herbs. Well done Chef. Seriously, they were good.

A pleasant breakfast experience, in lovely surroundings. A very good night's sleep.

A lovely, clean pool. A good clean bar area, with a very friendly lady.

The hotel, actually was clean in every department, and this was very noticeable. Well done to all, and thank you.

We will be back.

A hotel that is both exceptional for a leisure visit, and also a corporate one. There are many corporate facilities, and the hotel is ideally situated near all motorway communications for Manchester and beyond. Give it a try. You will be happy with your choice.

Clean, comfortable, friendly, professional and warm. We were not cold at all, and trust me, we have been in some cold hotels. But, this was a lovely environment. So, book now.

We would definitely recommend this hotel, and will be back before Christmas.

Thanks to the staff, for a clean, friendly, pleasant stay.

Regards,

David and family.

My family and I went to the Georgian House for a wedding and the whole event from start to finish was immaculate in every way.
The food was good and the staff polite and helpful. The drinks prices were very expensive and out of the reach of some guests.

Excellent hotel, have actually stayed here quite a number of times, usually when attending a function. Rooms are all fairly similar, but have been given one of the larger rooms previously which was nice. Food is very good, either served in the restaurant or in the bar. Staff have always been polite and efficient, plus there is a gym and pool on site.

This is a review of the breast cancer care event held at the hotel. The room and tables were decorated beautifully. The food was really nice, fresh tasting and well thought out. Special mention must be made to the hotel staff, who worked really hard at the event and were pleasant and helpful throughout . Nothing was too much trouble.

We recently had our wedding at the Georgian House Hotel and I must say we were not disappointed.

From the first time we drove into the hotel grounds, we knew that we wanted to book our wedding here. Our first meeting with Marie was excellent and the quote was emailed though to us within a couple of hours. We did not even bother looking at any other venues as we had our hearts set on the Georgian House.

In all the run up to the wedding, Marie was a godsend, answering and clearing up all my queries and worries of the day. All emails were answered quickly and fully. In our meetings, I made a number of changes, all of which were no problem at all. The mealtasting was excellent, as we had opted for the hot buffet of Lancashire Hotpot, Curry, Lasagne and Salmon we had a choice of what we would like to try, also with the desserts we were undecided so tried 3! We settled on the apple crumble which I can honestly say is the best we have ever tasted.

On the wedding day itself Louise ran our day and like Marie, nothing was too much trouble for her. Even when I was asking to turn down the air con then turn it up again a number of times. Our day ran so smoothly, with Louise making sure I was at the Registrar on time, at the ceremony room on time, letting us look at the wedding breakfast rooms and evening reception rooms to make sure were happy before the guests were allowed in. She also calmed me down on a number of occasions when the emotion of the day started to get to me.

We had a lot of complements on the meal with not one bad word being said - even my brother who states he is allergic to vegetables ate the vegetable soup!

The complementary bedroom was amazing with the four poster bed. The swans made out of towels were a lovely touch and it was a shame to remove them. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept very well. Breakfast was lovely with a large variety.

I would like to say one last thank you to all the staff at the Georgian House hotel especially Louise and Marie for making our day so special.

All in all we knew we had made the right decision in picking the Georgian House Hotel for our special day and I would not hesitate to recommend friends and family.

So I just stayed a night in the hotel as it was a business visit but I would like to mention that the front desk was extremely attentive and quick to respond even when I checked in the wee hours of the night. It was a clean room like every Mercure and was a comfortable night sleep. I breakfast spread wasn't as brilliant as I expected but was decent nonetheless .. Overall a pleasant stay

Recently attending a wedding reception here and it was very convenient.
The grounds are lovely and big but the rooms are actually quite small. The reception room was very ideal, plenty of tables for the meal and good polite staff serving the food and drinks. The bar is small but never waited too long to get a drink which was good.

it was a reasonable price to stay over and the rooms are nice and clean, but again they are small. you can have your drinks put onto your room tab which is handy so you don't have to deal with cash all night.

breakfast was included in the price of the room, it was a traditional buffet style breakfast but not many tables in the room.

The one thing that lets this place down is the price of the drinks, they are expensive. other than that it was a lovely weekend.
plenty of car parking spaces too :)

The hotel itself is very attractive and stands in lovely countryside. I was recently here on a coach trip, and although overall my stay was enjoyable, there is much room to improve. Firstly being used to London prices I was shocked to be charged £9.50 for a large glass of white wine but the worst part of my stay was the blantent rudeness of the two lady receptionists. At first I thought their contempt was aimed only at guests on the coach tour, however I overheard them speaking to other customers in the same rude manner. They were content to have a queue of people with no apology, blamed several people on different days for causing their door keys to become deactivated and being most unhelpful regarding requests about extractor fans not working and the shower needs of elderly customers. I believe the ladies on Reception should behave more like the lovely staff in the restaurant and bar.

We recently stayed at The Mercure Bolton Georgian house Hotel while on a coach tour holiday. The staff were helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble - when I needed an extension lead for an electrical item it appeared in my room within 30 minutes. When I had trouble with the electronic room key I was told it would be sorted and when I returned to my room it was working perfectly. The food was very good and the chef was an amazing true Lancastrian who apart from providing an excellent menu entertained us at the servery with his extrovert and amusing banter. I enjoyed a swim in the pool which was very refreshing - my only criticism was that the jacuzzi was not working and could do with updating. Also I would advise travellers to ask for a room facing towards the countryside rather than the main road as the road is very noisy. I would certainly be happy to stay here again.

Stayed at the Mercure Bolton for the Ironman Bolton weekend. I was support for brother-in-law. Really enjoyed the experience. The hotel is just round the corner from the Bolton FC stadium which is where registration and Transition 2 is situated, trust me when you are looking to drop off and pick your bike being close is a definite advantage.
Room was fine, and there is a good gym on site. Best thing about the hotel was the service and food. Staff very friendly, especially Irene behind the bar, and understood the needs of the triathletes during the weekend. Food was also brilliant, pre race carb loading buffet was very popular as was the post race pig out buffet. Lots of triathletes staying at the hotel which made for a great atmosphere.
I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay for the Ironman weekend and hopefully i will be doing it myself in the near future.

This hotel is right on the edges of Bolton about a fifteen minute taxi journey away.

The hotel itself is a standard business type place, the fixtures and fittings are a bit tired, my room had no aircon and in fact the extractor in the bathroom didn't even work. This meant I had to leave the window open and got bitten two or three times.
The saving graces for this hotel were the most excellent and helpful staff team and a good breakfast.

The gardens were nice around the hotel and it is five minutes in a cab from the football ground so convenient for match days.

A mixed stay while using this hotel as a business base.
Asked for a quiet room and got it. They have a wing reserved to provide for a quiet stay and it works, mostly.
The facilities are excellent with a good gym and pool and the Zumba? class was really fun. There is also a hairdressers and beautician.
Staff were friendly but in short supply, especially poor as it was a big match night and only one untrained bar lady for drinks and food orders. We felt sorry for her but the wait was far to long at 15/20 mins to be served a drink. When the food arrived 2/3 were o.k. We did not pay for mine! We did try the restaurant but on entering we could hear it was just as chaotic. The next day the bar was fully staffed we noticed.
For the rest of the stay we ate out and can recommend the pub just up the road (turn left out of hotel) just a short walk and serving good food with good service.
Would possibly us it again.

We stayed for two nights on a trip to Scotland.

The Suite 229 was lovely and the bed so comfortable.

We did not have Dinner but the breakfasts were excellent.

The bar area was good.

The staff were so friendly.

When going that way, we will definitely stay again.

We stayed there on Whit Monday night as part of a deal with Groupon to see Take that in Manchester. The hotel is very pleasant and the staff were very friendly. As some of the previous reviewers have said the rooms are a "tired" and need a bit of a makeover but saying that it certainly would not put me off in returning again

Stayed here for 2 nights in May attending a wedding. The family room was large, clean and spacious. Breakfast was hot and nice. The staff were all friendly and helpful including the housekeeping and bar staff. No complaints for the price we paid and would recommend this hotel as a good base if you were wanting to explore the local area.

We booked this hotel on the day that we went for just a quiet night out. The service is lovely and I couldn't fault the staff. The food was very good and the staff were very attentive. If you want somewhere slightly cheaper to stay without it being anything special, it would be suitable. If your looking for something with a bit of character, it appears to lack in this. The rooms look like they haven't been redone in a while and the decor is looking very tired, the bathroom in particular could do with a complete makeover. Overall it was a nice stay but I probably wouldn't stay again.

Stayed at the Mercure on a business stop over. Decore is basic in the rooms and a little uninspiring but acceptable. The bathroom was in need of a revamp. Everything though was clean and tidy.
The tv infotainment system was a little complicated and convoluted to just get to watching a tv channel and may be too much for a technophobe.
Wifi was reliable, fast and free.
Breakfast was pleasant enough and enjoyable although the self service coffee machine seemed to be playing up when I was there and I stuck with juice.

It has been sometime now since I reviewed this hotel. I stay here every week, and so after reading some of the poor reviews (some I believe for petty reasons), thought I would review it again.
I am not saying it is the most luxurious hotel I have stayed in, but it is one of the most comfortable and definitely the friendliest. From the moment I enter the hotel to leaving it, the staff are brilliant and always seem to be enjoying what they do (which you can't say the same about the majority of hotels), they can't do enough and nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms I have stayed in may not be the most modern I admit, but are spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with large comfortable beds (albeit the pillows are a litter on the hard side for me); Dated rooms to me are not a problem, provided they are clean, and the rooms at the Georgian House are clean.
The restaurant is ok, but since I have eaten most of the menu, I like a change; the food is good and prices a little on the high side, but hey, it's a hotel what do you really expect. Anyway there are several good restaurants and pubs around to choose from.
The location for me is perfect when working or visiting the area.
I have given it 5 stars (at first four) but it's worth 5 because after a long drive in the morning and then working all day, the hotel is where I want to be when I arrive in the evening looking forward to a nice long hot bath (plenty of hot water), what more do you need.

Facilties wise cant doubt it. Swimming pool access good for kids and not too big. Restuarant and bar within hotel. Location good for travelling in and around Manchester. However rooms are a bit dated requires painting and updating. No working heating but ok due to weather being warmish. Tv kept freezing finally gave up. Massive car park and quiet only stayed for one night. Would I return probaly not until the rooms get painted and cleaned. Wifi is free and good. Cant doubt the staff great service.

We had driven up from the South of England by road, travelling by faith, and in sure hope, that some form of quaint English accommodation, brimming with character and appeal, would "pop up" somewhere towards late afternoon . It didn't !!

In ignorance, we left the M62 and tried the labyrinth of roads winding around the industrial midlands, studded with traffic lights and bus stops, to find nothing but rows of cramped stone building, and dirty brick terrace houses, blackened with industrial grime, which offered no hope of finding any accommodation whatsoever.

We re-joined the M62 and drove further west, to again try our fortunes in the Blackburn area. Here we discovered that the English Pubs were places focused on drinking and dining, with not the slightest intention of providing accommodation .... anywhere.

From one of these establishments we were directed to the Mercure Bolton Last Drop Village Hotel" . The barmaid, a local for 60 years gave us directions , with the parting encouragement that " You can't miss it " which with our luck that day, meant that we probably would. To our relief , in steady rain which had persisted all day, we arrived.

The huge building standing majestically on the hill, looked like a peace time rendition of Colditz Camp with fairy lights, and immediately our relief was evident, as nightfall was now approaching, after a long day on the road.

Happily we entered the inviting foyer, and upon announcing our needs, were told that two weddings had been booked, and in consequence, they had no accommodation available : next, waves of dripping sports cyclists began arriving , complete with their bikes, looking for the sauna , and there appeared to be a shortage of staff at the desk . The hotel staff rang a sister Mercure Hotel and found that a room was indeed available. It was only fifteen minutes away according to them, but as first time visitors we really had no idea about how to get there. After a twenty minute wait, with the dripping cyclists, y they accessed a google map which they printed out and produced directions from the same source to assist the onward journey.

The fifteen minute drive was represented by a 2 centimetre squiggle on the map , which prompted us to fire up our "Tom Tom" which had a fading battery. Whilst trying to enter the address, we wondered who the idiot was that invented "Bolton Blackrod"
as part of a place address. The Tom Tom wanted a street number , and did much thinking about this name, but the staff had said again " You can't miss it".

They were right. We didn't miss it and were pleased to be quickly processed and allocated room 780 on the 2nd Floor. The room provided was an unusual shape: certainly not square, but the space was most adequate, as was the bathroom.

Two things stood out. The first was the size of the TV. It was a modern appliance, but the screen was the size of an overgrown postage stamp. We could have done with binoculars to watch the TV whilst in bed. The image was so small. The other item that surprised me was the stingy supply of coffee. There were only two paper tubes of instant coffee for two people, and two decaffeinated paper tubes of coffee.

The room was functional and comfortable however, and featured double glazing. It was nice to find that the windows actually opened meaning the room can be ventilated by atmospheric air. The queen size bed was ensemble style and comfortable enough, but it featured a sort of modern four poster contrivance: for what purpose ? I have no idea. WiFi was available in the room, and quickly accessed at no extra cost.

We thankfully had dinner not long after arriving at about 8:45 pm. We were told that the restaurant serves until 9:30 pm. The food and service was to the highest standard. Breakfast in the morning was set up as a self serve affair, with good cooked and continental breakfast variety. Two things offered, amongst others were the black pudding, and fried bread: quite characteristic of Lancashire.

We departed the Mercure Hotel, Blackrod, somewhat wiser for the experiences of then past 24 hours, and very thankful that we had at least found it after a tedious day in the rain.
