We stayed her for Christmas whilst we were visiting family. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are a good size and we'd definitely stay again..

Where the hotel is situated makes easy access to Middlebrook and supermarkets. The hotel itself offers fantastic facilities free of charge including high speed wifi, use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Although on the website it does not state that these facilities are free which was 1. A lovely surprise 2. A good job we were prepared and brought swimming essentials. The staff were friendly and available at all times, eager to make your stay as pleasant and easy as possible. The room was basic yet had everything you'd need, the flat screen TV was a generous size and had HDMI ports allowing us to watch films through our laptop. The room essentials (bed sheets, bathroom) were immaculate but upon a closer look there were empty champagne bottles left in the wardrobe and so much hair under the bed sheet you could have made a wig.

On arrival our group was greeted very warmly and efficiently. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Food was plentiful and well prepared. Our room was very comfortable, clean and had every facility we needed, including heating.
The only slight disappointment was in the amount of charges in the bar. It is accepted that these charges are not the fault of the staff, but I do feel they are a little higher than they need to be. In the area where I live a tonic water costs maximum of £1.60 in a good hotel, whereas in this hotel it was £2.10 for the same item. If one needs to drink wine purchased in the hotel, I would suggest a fairly well stocked wallet is needed.

Visited Mercure on Christmas day, and wasn't what I expected for the price. On first impressions the room looked very smart. Although the room was visually pleasing, the table was cluttered with all the coffee cups, mince pies, and things that should have been brought out at the end of the meal. Leaving no room for the vegetables to be put on the table. This brings me to the next point, we had 1 bowl of vegetables and 1 bowl of roast potatoes (around 9) between 11 of us. When we brought this to their attention, it took nearly 15-20 minutes to bring extra portions, by then most of us had finished our meals. Leaving many of us without roast potatoes and veg until the end of the meal. Also when we brought it to their attention that there was not enough veg and potatoes to go around, the woman did not seem bothered. We did bring this to the attention of someone higher, who did apologise for this and offered us some free drinks as an apology. Also I was really surprised that no staff were waiting on drinks, if you needed a drink you had to go to the bar yourself, which wasn't a great problem however it would have been nice. The food was nice, but nothing more than what you would expect from your local pub, which is a quarter of the price. So overall I've given Mercure a 3 star as it was okay, however I don't think i will be going back there in the near future.

Have just returned from a two day travel club mystery with Gardiners N M C Coach Holidays. The hospitality shown both on the coach and at the hotel was first class. The excursion stops on both days was superb. The hotel was first class, evening dinner (Christmas dinner) was excellent, reception, staff, rooms, brilliant. Hats off to Adrian and his staff of Gardiners, cannot praise them enough. I will definitely be going again( have already booked) value for money.

Stayed on a Saturday night just before Christmas. The hotel was booked for us by a third party. The cost was £150 and whilst one can understand market forces, the quality of accommodation did not reflect the high price. As a regular hotel user around the country, I was surprised at the high tariff given the location. The staff were friendly and pleasant enough but the fixtures and fittings were dated and tired.
Ironically we stayed local to an event to save a £40 taxi ride....as they say in Manchester"that'll learn yer!!"

Stayed for two nights, rooms very comfortable, beds nice and spacious for doubles. Bathroom a little dated with shower over bath, lots of wasted room in bathroom that would suit walkin shower.

Food is very good with great choice. Beer very expensive, even staff said that's the biggest complaint from everyone who stays.

But will stay again soon.

The Hotel was mostly fine but was not so good on small items. the resturant needs to be beter organised. It is pointless gettng guests to complete a menu without subsequently being able to dentfy them and seven pece of aple with a couple of other fruits does not make a fruit salad also a wider selection on he menu would have been more helpful.
Checking guests out before they leave seems silly.

Attended a friends wedding here last weekend and had a fabulous time. The staff were fantastic at looking after all the guests and were made to feel like no request was too big or too small - the lady who seemed to be running things was really on the ball!!
Bar prices were a tad pricey but similar to that of any hotel.
Didn't stay for the night so can't really comment on the rooms but friends said they were comfy and clean.

I stayed for a night on business and the hotel was just the job. The room was comfortable, well appointed and clean. The staff were friendly and the car park was a good size (too many hotels have car parks that are too small and are full if you arrive too late!)

Stayed here during business trip. Room only. No advice given from staff on anything other than directions to room. No offer of adding breakfast option during stay. Basic room, although very clean and warm. Scolding shower which you have to muck about with to get steady control. Wardrobe doors un-closeable, drawers a struggle to open and wifi is poor.

My friend and I have just returned from a weekend at this hotel. The hotel was busy, there was nightly entertainment and our room was clean and serviced each day. Lift was quite small and in demand so we used the stairs which were quite narrow. The dining room is on the lower ground floor, breakfast was the best meal of the day, evening meal was a bit sparse. Okay for a budget stay, room was clean and entertainment was quite good over the weekend.

My wife and I stayed here for three days and had a most pleasant stay again.
The service at breakfast, especially from Isobel was first class.
I stayed in the main bar on two nights and the barman was very helpful as well.
The price of drinks was rather expensive,4.80 for a bottle of beer!
but that I suppose is Hotel prices.

I stayed in this hotel for one night to watch a match at the macron Stadium (Bolton Wanderers). The hotel is very well located for this purpose - just off the motorway, and I elected to walked to the stadium which took only 25 minutes. There is a large car park. The hotel is comfortable and I enjoyed a pleasant snack drink in the bar after the football.

Plastic towel rails, 15" TVs, 80's bathroom fittings, lino, tired furniture.... I could go on. The hotel is in a lovely location for Westhoughton/Bolton and the old building is fabulous but the ~£80 rooms are SO tired they are barely Travel Lodge/Premier Inn standard.

The breakfast is good as are all the staff, which almost makes up for it.

At this price in this part of the world AND with this brand I expect better.

"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world" ...... ooops, wrong quote but definitely the right choice of hotel to celebrate yet another wedding anniversary. We always thoroughly enjoy Georgian House hotel and return time and again, driving past several others of similar standard to one where we absolutely KNOW the food is excellent, the welcome sincere and the location just right for our needs.

We have stayed here several times as it's ideally placed. It has a good size family The room is relatively comfortable and clean with no obvious outside noise, but the bathroom needs attention. The pool is nice enough and seems popular but again the changing rooms , especially the family room need some work. Its an Open shower which doesn't drain so the floor gets wet and places to put things/ sit down are limited.
We will stay again as its so handy.

Stayed at Georgian House, staff were very friendly, room was a little dated also sink badly cracked.
Found the hotel very warm,
after the meal the tables never got cleared, the plates and cutlery were left on the tables until all the guests left at 1am.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in October 2015 as part of a 20-strong group. Check-in was smooth and efficient and reception staff were welcoming and helpful. All areas were spotlessly clean and well maintained.

The most noticeable thing about the hotel was the friendliness of staff in the restaurant. We had breakfast and evening meals every day and found the staff extremely warm and friendly - quite unusually so for a large, chain hotel. Serving and kitchen staff showed genuine interest in our welfare and comfort. Special dietary requirements were dealt with quietly and discreetly.

Breakfasts were excellent - good quality food and a vast choice. Evening meals were excellent on two of the three evenings but only fair on the third.

The only negative point I would make relates to the bar which was a typical hotel bar - bland and soulless. Prices for beer and wine were high and beers were limited to bland keg beer and lagers. The only alternative to these were bottled beers at £4.90 a time. Fortunately there is an excellent pub (The Poacher) 5 minutes walk away.

Generally a good base for visiting the area. We would certainly stay there again.

My cousin had her wedding at the hotel on the 20th Sept. From start to finish Marie and her team did a fantastic job in executing and fulfilling every desired detail/ request. Thank you for your patience and excellent customer service. Highly recommend the venue and once again a huge thanks to Marie.

On arriving at the hotel we were greeted a by a lovely smiling receptionist called Claire who explained everything to us and answered any questions we had with no trouble at all .There was a wedding on when we arrived and it was quite busy but we went to the bar to order some food and drinks with no hassle and our order was took by a very polite young man by the name of Ryan who explained if we wanted to eat somewhere quieter we could access a seating area near the art bar and he would bring us our food and drinks which he did quite quickly and it was lovely, after eating we then went to our room which was very clean and comfortable and had two lovely towel swans on the bed .My boyfriend had arranged a surprise proposal with the help and assistance of a few staff members one of them being Louise Warrington who went above and beyond the call of duty we had a beautiful private dining room absolutely stunning setting that took my breath away .Matt our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about any queries we had and did not hassle us at all and between Louise and Matt and the wonderful food cooked by Mark the head chef who all knew about this wonderful evening I could on no level fault any of it even Chris the other manager was polite and friendly we even managed to sit down and relax with staff and have coffee .I would totally recommend this hotel ,the staff are wonderful friendly and nothing is too much for them and they all are happy and polite and the food is wonderful and very good value for money and I did say yes after such a beautiful setting and brilliant evening how could I not?.

I have stayed in several hotels on business and I have to say that this is one of my favourites
Reasonably priced with good facilities
Staff were friendly at every point of contact, from check in, fitness centre and restaurant
The look and feel of this hotel is fab and Rooms very modern!
Gym is rather small but you are in a hotel so it does have more than enough for a stay over !
There is a sauna, steam room and a lovely clean swimming pool
I ate in the restaurant which I found reasonably priced and food well cooked

Overall I am more than happy with this hotel and will definitely be returning

Stayed at this hotel when supporting a family member taking part in the Iron Man race. The hotel had lots of participants staying and they did a great job looking after us all. The staff were relaxed and friendly, in particular the lady who worked in the bar fantastic.

Stayed here this month October 2015. I was in the area to attend a friend's retirement do in nearby Blackrod. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Staff were brilliant, helpful and friendly. All the staff I came into contact with were superb, but a special mention for Isobel, Carrie on reception & Lydia on breakfast, but as I say, all members of staff were lovely and helpful. My room was great and clean. Breakfast was a wonderful treat. Though M61 not that far away, I found I could not hear it in my room. There are 1 or 2 areas were it could improve e.g. air con in rooms for example, especially for summer. But overall I had a lovely time there. Will definitely be back.
