Had a 7am circuit class from Dave last Friday,25th October. One of the toughest training sessions I’ve ever had. Dave is a brilliant instructor who knows his stuff.
His classes are very structured and well run.
I’d highly recommend Dave as a first class fitness trainer.

A colleague and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. He stayed outside the main building and said he felt the hotel was tired in places and his dinner was "good" rather than "great". I however stay in a *lot* of hotels and I could find pretty much nothing wrong with the Mercure, when compared to many others I've stayed in.

The hotel was clean and tidy throughout, and all of the staff I encountered were welcoming and friendly. They even found stuff I left behind in the room, and handed it to my colleague to retun to me (I left before him).

I was in the main building and the room was huge and perfect for working in the evening. Unlike in many hotels, the lighting was excellent, there was a good-sized desk/table, and the wifi worked quickly and flawlessly. If you're not a fan of squeezy-bottle soap, you might be happy to know that Mercure still provides a small bar of soap and little bottles of shampoo etc. Personally, I prefer anything that helps the environment and reduces waste, so squeezy-botles are ok by me.

I could see my room looked out onto the road, but I am a light sleeper and didn't hear any traffic noise overnight. My colleague and I also used the pool/sauna facilities and they were clean and tidy and perfectly adequate for an in-hotel facility that is free for hotel guests. (Suggestion: maybe have a bigger clock in the pool area?)

Dinner - especially the soup - was very tasty and there is a good selection of breakfast items. The breakfast was also included in the room price - unlike another hotel very near by, which wanted to charge us another £10 per night for breakfast. Luckily we discovered the extras before we booked there, and so we came to the Mercure instead.

The bar selection isn't massive, but all the usuals were there. If you do prefer to eat out, there's an excellent restaurant 5 minutes walk along the road. There are also some chain restaurants a short drive away.

So, a very nice stay, well worth 4 stars, and I would stay there again without hesitation. Thanks to all the staff, front and back-room. Well done.

As a recent joining member of the Bolton Mercure Georgian House Hotel Health and Fitness Club I cannot praise the staff, particularly Dave, enough.
Dave will spend as much time with you as you desire or will equally leave you alone when you want to. Absolutely no pressure at all to be fully involved.
Dave is always on hand to help and advise, nothing is too much effort.
Thanks very much!

Great facilities and always a warm welcome here. It wouldn't be right for me to single out any of the staff in particular so it's a simple keep up the amazing work. Gary the manager, Simon, Kelly and Dave are the current team and we are in safe hands. The classes are good and any changes to the schedule are always well communicated.
Open until 2300 and I'd be really happy.😀

Another fantastic, challenging class with Dave. Takes you out of your comfort zone and helps you improve your performance. Dave is extremely knowledgeable and not only encourages you to do more he also ensures that you are doing things correctly.

For a few nights the hotel ticked all boxes. Decent quality evening meal, pool and gym.

Great engagement and from the breakfast staff (Julie/Gemma) who made early mornings bearable with porridge and a smile

Our son's wedding was followed by a reception at the Georgian House Hotel. The venue was beautifully decorated, the food delicious and the staff were amazing! The reception staff were welcoming, the chambermaids pleasant and chatty (sorry I don't know your names) and the breakfast staff (Julie) went above and beyond. Thank you all for contributing to the best wedding I've been to!!

I have recently been doing the classes In the morning with Dave, he is very professional and the classes are great. The classes are convenient for work time, and I have seen an increase in my fitness.

The staff (Julie) and Kitchen staff have went beyond the call of duty, as they open the breakfast room each morning , each week 15 minutes early in order to make sure i get full english breakfast as they have got to know me & my work. Therefore is the open at the correct time of 6.30am i would either be late for open our work / premise or i would be required to go without a breakfast.

Well done the Mercure breakfast team

Great location, near Bolton Wanderers' ground. Ideal for Manchester city centre, Wigan and Bolton.
I've been to several special events there - weddings and a Christmas evening - all thoroughly recommended.
The staff are really helpful, especially Irene behind the bar. The food is wonderful, you won't be disappointed.
The gym and swimming pool are also wonderful - the leisure staff will look after you, especially Dave.

Myself and my partner stayed here as we were on a training course in Bolton for work, and were put up here on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal.
All I can say is after a stressful course day it was fantastic coming back here each day, always greeted with a smile and welcome from lovely staff, comfortable beds and adequate room facilities. As others state, it’s not ultra 5 star but it’s perfectly fine. Evening meal and breakfast also perfectly fine. Burgers are excellent! Gym, spa and health club good.
The best part of our stay was “Irene” who was in charge of the bar.... she is amazing and such a lovely lady! A total asset to the hotel. We looked forward to seeing her friendly self every evening! A lot of 5 star hotels could take a leaf out of the mercure’s book and employ people like Irene, such a friendly, welcoming person... so nice in fact that we will be getting her a card and some flowers on our last night stay in a few days time!

I can't comment on the hotel but regularly visit the gym and pool. The building could do with a bit of updating but there is a good range of equipment and excellent staff - all very friendly and helpful.

Myself and my partner stayed for one night last week for the football. Rooms are dated and are in need of a refurbishment but it was lovely to have a leisure club attached. The food and bar prices are a little high but you expect that in a hotel. Even though I didn't bring any shorts for swimming the manager Gary went above and beyond to lend me some. Great location to stay for the football because it's only 25 minutes walk to the ground so we would stay again.

The club has a very friendly atmosphere and there are lots of facilities including a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The staff are always helpful and it is good to see the return of Dave to the team. Classes are always of a high standard and I regularly attend the spin and circuit training and last week attended my first yoga class with Lisa and was made to feel very welcome.

We are members of the Mercury health club and use the Pool and spa facilities twice per week. The facility is maintained very well and is always clean and tidy. Simon who is behind the reception desk is very friendly and attentive to your needs. He helped my wife get in her locker following a swim as the lock key failed to work. The staff are always friendly and courteous which creates a good atmosphere.

Have been a member here since inception - pleasant, extremely helpful and friendly staff, especially Simon & team. Excellent classes with broad choice; it's feel-good atmosphere makes exercising a pleasure not a chore or just chilling out to de-stress by the pool/steam room/sauna. No parking problems, easily accessible, friendly coffee lounge area. Highly recommended, not to be missed.

Whilst staying at the hotel I ended up at a loose end due to some of my appointments being cancelled. I was there for quite a few days and the weather being as it , it was great to be able to use the gym. I came across Dave, Kelly and Simon over these few days. All were very knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. They really are a credit to this hotel.

I organised my daughter's wedding at the Georgian House. What a terrific job everyone made!
Our 130 guests were came from 5 continents and spoke several languages - nothing to the superb planning team led by Bronwen.
On arrival everyone was greeted with a smile and help Irene in the bar and kept all happy throughout the weekend.
On Friday evening many of us enjoyed a super pre-wedding dinner in the restaurant, served well by the young staff.
The canapes served at the drinks reception were excellent and again the young staff came up to scratch ensuring all were amply supplied.
The wedding breakfast was beautifully prepared by Executive Chef Eddie, served hot , on hot plates in a timely efficient way led by Louis and Ndine the event managers.
We then transferred to the second function suite for the evening entertainment.
Again all was first class, the DJ played a cross-section of genres of music, the evening buffet was delivered with same efficiency and the quality was again superb.
The whole team obviously have a great leader in Eric the manager who instils confidence and quality in them.
It is a shame to finish on a negative but the Mercure Group Management should feel ashamed that they do not back-up such a great team by financing a long overdue refurbishment.
The public toilets, while immaculately clean are from the 60's, and frankly a disgrace! The restaurant badly needs updating, as do several bedrooms and public areas!
I remember the Georgian House in the 70's when the Hotel easily complied with a 4 star rating and the restaurant was one of the best in the area and to book a table at weekends was nigh on impossible!
I feel sure that the staff of today could re-establish that reputation with support from the Mercure hierarchy!
Finally thank you to all the staff at the Georgian House and apologise to anyone I have omitted to mention by name you were all fantastic!
