Where to start.... We originally visited the hotel in July 2010 to enquire and look around with a view to having our wedding reception here in July 2012. This is when we first met Marie Jolley. Ever since our initial meeting we have felt nothing but confident in her and she has been an amazing help. Nothing has ever been too much and she always made us feel like we were the only wedding she had there (which i know certainly was not the case). Leading up to the wedding day we had a menu taster again this was never too much trouble and the food was fantastic. We had a few unplanned situations leading up to the day again which Marie and sometimes her colleague Sue dealt with and accommodated us very efficiently. On the actual day we were made to feel very welcoming and our day was magical from start to finish. On arrival all the guests were greeted and shown where to go and on our arrival a glass of bubbles was there for us greeted with a smile from Marie & Carl. All of our wedding guests commented on how professional and friendly all the staff was Carl, our Master of Ceremonies was fantastic too he was with us every step of the day (well not every but he was certainly on hand). Anything we asked him to do he did and with a smile on his face. Right through to us going to bed he was on hand to help us with anything we needed. The food was fantastic and the bar service was next to non and we had alot of guests in total.

The accommodation was lovely and the breakfast the morning after was also delicious :).

If you are considering holding your wedding reception here i can not recommend them enough they really are fantastic and the hotel is privileged to have Marie, Carl and Sue on their team :).

Thanks again guys for the most magical day of our lives and for making us feel like we were your only priority.

I had my wedding reception at this hotel on the 3rd August 2012, and to say it was fantastic is an understatement. The room was magical, it looked absolutely amazing and I couldn't have wished for anything better. Marie Jolly, our wedding co-ordinator was so helpful and I trusted her whole heartedly with everything from start to finish. Even all of our wedding guests commented on how professional and friendly all the staff were. Carl, our Master of Ceremonies, was unbelievable. He copied brilliantly with all my demands and his presence on the day relaxed me completely. He was willing to do anything and everything in order to make the day go as smoothly as possible. I can not recommend this hotel enough: the rooms are lovely; the food is fantastic and the staff are absolutely wonderful.

Stayed at this hotel for two days midweek and have to say that the customer service was excellent, in particular Emma in the restaurant. The hotel was modern with good amenities and was within easy reach of main connection roads. We ate in the restaurant during our stay and got two for one on all courses via our taste card, the food was excellent , good quality and well presented, although I don't think we would have ate in if we had not got the two for one as a bit overpriced, compliments to Eddie the chef, loved the signature soup and mushy peas with Jalapenos ! Breakfast was a buffet with every possible combination from cold to hot and a plentiful supply. The only negative comment is the price of wine, cheapest was £22 for a bottle. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable we paid a bit more for an executive room and it had plenty of space, only negative was the shower which no power but ample supply of hot water. Would stay again without any hesitation.

I had booked a nights stay for a friends wedding and after reading all the previous great reviews I expected a great stay which wasn't the case. I will start with check in, great quick service even though we turned up 20 mins before check in time which a bonus. The room was very clean and quite large which is always welcomed however the hotel is constantly hot and with the windows in your room opening an inch an having no air con this is an issue Mecure need to resolve. Whilst the room was large there was a small desk with the TV and internet, there is a travel kettle which was on a very low shelf next to the bathroom with a very small selection of tea and coffee, but no biscuits, even a £39 Campanille hotel has these little touches. I have knee problems so making a brew proved difficult and painful for me, why there is not a larger desk so the kettle can be on it I have no idea. Breakfast was the most dissapointing, first you wander through part of the empty resturant feeling lost to then meet an almost empty buffet, dirty tables and no staff, this was half way into the breakfast time slot! after waiting for 10 mins for tables to be cleared an re set we then waited a further 10 mins for awful filter coffee. There seemed to be remains of fresh fruit, yoghut, cooked breakfast and some fruit juices which I was unclear what they were as there were no signs to indicate. The only items that were replenished during our visit were eggs. The entire expereice was a waste of time wish had gone to Tesco for a cooked breakfast. This hotel could quite easily be amazing if they really wanted to. Other issues I found were black paint spots on a wooden staircase which ruined how nice others parts of the hotel were, diffcuilty getting drinks at the bar which is very overpriced £2 for a small coke or £3.70 for a pint! The bar food menu is also a rip off £5 for a bowl of soup, at these prices you would be better going down to middlebrook for food.

This hotel, although a chain has charm and the likeability factor. The staff are friendly and attentive and really do believe in customer service. What sets it apart from the Deveres, Premiers and Travel lodges is the added hospitality so although you know what you are getting with a branded hotel, you also get that little bit extra.

just recently had a 2 night midweek stay here through groupon deal. The hotel was really nice, with very kind and helpful frinedly staff. the room was quite small and hot, even with window open but was very clean and had everything we needed. We used the hotel gym and pool on our first day and were very impressed with the facilities. As part of the groupon deal we had tea on the first night and could have no complaints about the food, the chips been absolute lovely. breakfasts both morning were very good, with plenty choice. would definately use this hotel again if staying in the area

Good modern looking hotel with use of swimming pool, handy for the motorways (parking included). Took the summer 2 night offer ( stayed mid week, so function rooms not in use) staying in an area We hadn't thought of visiting before.
Friendly helpfull receptionist expalined the facilities, room was impecably clean. Dinner booked for 7 pm but no food came out for anyone until 7.45 ( 7 tables of people waiting) So second evening went in to Bolton and Found "The Chinese Buffet" on Bridge street.... very good and very filling! Breakfast good and wide ranging though run out of muesli and eggs-fried and scrambled by 8.45, though available by request.
Trips out we enjoyed the Lowry at Salford Quays, right balance of description and paintings and free. Then walked over the bridge to the Imperial war museum, didn't find that worth while.. In a different direction, Helmshore Mills Textile Museum well worth the visit to see the machinery in action.

Could not fault this hotel for the money. I kept waiting for there to be a catch, but there wasn't one. After a long journey broken by stays in Travelodges and Premier Inns (both fine) this hotel offered something more personal and individual. The room was spacious and newly painted and on a late arrival, the check in was shortened. We were also pleasantly surprised to find the bar still open and the bar staff and other guest were up for a chat. The breakfast was good and the staff managed to be attentive whist leaving us some space. We visited the pool after check out - this was no trouble. It offered more facilities than I expected and there was a babies' swimming lesson in a cordoned off area which I liked - there was a real sense of the hotel adding to the local community. This hotel was not luxurious but was relaxed, comfortable and friendly - a real 'home from home'.

We stayed as part of wahanda deal. Excellent value for money. The hotel has no faults from what we could see. All staff, were very friendly, special mention to Hannah Greene (waitress in the restaurant) she was really professional and had good knowledge of the menu. One of the best meals we have ever had, and we have been to may hotels, rest etc. Service was second to none.
The food was really outstanding. Leisure club was clean, very relaxing round pool and jacuzzi area. Bedroom was spotless, we stayed in room 897. Bed very comfortable, and bathroom was sparkling. We hope to return here again in the near future. Thank you for making our short stay wonderful.

It's a shame overall that I only gave this hotel an average rating because there are some really positive points. But it's like chalk and cheese. Some of the staff are so nice, whilst others appeared really miserable and didn't have the sense of humour needed to work in the hospitality trade. The room was as expected for a hotel of this grading but was way too hot even with the window open. I also noticed an apparent problem with plumbing with the tolilet in both the room and bar area being very difficult to flush. I was disappointed with the breakfast which was self service, but there weren't enough guests to see it moving quickly hence some of the food was a bit dry. Bar prices were fine for a hotel and beer fine if pulled by a fully trained member of staff and the night porter was one of the staff who shone - an excellent manner with guests! I think when the room refurbishment is complete and the new staff have been fully trained and settled in, this will be an excellent choice in it's category.

stayed here for few days away. rooms are very hot even with window open as no a/c. quite noisy at night with people smoking out side and drinking in the 24 hour club bar. 0130 and there was still loud football being played down in the bar/lounge area. rooms are quite nice but bit dated and lacking free wifi which is needed these days. over all hotel is a good experience.

Firstly, the staff are without exception extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is of a good 3 star standard although there are one or two areas which could do with attention (like the dangling panel in the dining room ceiling) and some of the detail cleaning (slightly sad-looking grouting between tiles above the bath) would benefit from an application of elbow grease. Not that it is dirty or sufficent to warrant complaint, as such, just lack of attention to detail taking the edge off the overall appearance. I'd rate the cleanliness as Average Plus - 3½ out of 5.

There were very obvious staffing issues during my visit. At dinner on the first night there was only one staff member (Hannah, who coped extremely well) in evidence and outside assistance (rapidly forthcoming) had to be sought for clearing between courses. The MAJOR staffing issue was apparent on check-out on the Sunday morning. There had been a wedding the previous day, with some guests staying over. Obviously with the 11am deadline for check-out, there was going to be a rush. Front of house staff were a trainee receptionist (OK, everyone has to learn sometime) and Carl (Functions Manager) who hadn't worked on Reception for some time. The delays reflected badly not on the staff, who struggled but did manage to check everyone out, but on the rostering. There was very evidently some problem with the programming as there were piles of bills on the floor "to be sorted out later". With a pre-booked function, other guests booked for fixed length stays and the inevitability of a rush to check-out the following morning, it would have been a vastly better guest experience for fully trained and current receptionist(s) to be on hand to handle the numbers departing. If there had been a number of 'walk-ins', it would have been more understandable. I was fortunate in that my very straightforward transaction took under a minute to complete with total accuracy (booked direct, pre-paid, just restaurant extras to pay), but the 40 minute wait was unacceptable. I was on the verge of walking out and sorting my residual bill over the phone later in the day.

The Spa was excellent in every respect; clean, very welcoming staff, good sauna, less good (but still OK - just not particularly steamy) steam room, jacuzzi fine and pool nice too. Take your own towel down if the hotel is busy (!) - they have a finite number of towels available and came pretty close to running out. In total fairness, the towel business IS mentioned in the Hotel Guest information pack (yes, I did take my own but didn't need it).

Please see a seperate review for the restaurant.

A very nice hotel with very friendly and professional staff that takes care of you! Service is fantastic! Rooms are clean and a good size. And the location is great, just minutes away from shopping area's, the motorway to Manchester, etc..

We were here for business, and celebrated our anniversary as well. We had a great welcome. Fantastic staff!

Being an A-Club member booked this hotel online for a stopover when visiting family. Dim memories of a not so good Ramada from years back. Pleasantly surprised as the staff certainly were far more pleasant, attentive and keen to provide good service than the old Ramada. Some touch up painting was being done in the Reception (think may have been a leak in recent rain)

Decided to have dinner in the hotel along with a pernickety relative. Normally very picky being a former Chef, she actually thought the dinner was very tasty and good value!

The bedroom must have been one of the renovated ones as it most certainly wasn't small and was fresh, clean and tidy.

(I distinctly remember entering a review of this Hotel via accor but cannot find any trace of it, so this is a resubmittal)
Stayed here April 2012

We were met by smiling friendly reception staff (a good start) The room was a good size and very clean with good facilities. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices and the retaurant staff were most helpful. This is a lovely hotel close to great shopping but far enough away to be a quiet and relaxing retreat. What also came across, was the fact that all the staff enjoyed their work which makes so much difference to the ambience to the place.

late decision to stay here whilst visiting relatives nearby.. bargain price was the deciding factor with breakfast included. Staff very attentive , food good, dined in restaurant in evening had lovely meal. used the leisure facilities .. all good.
Bedroom was as requested... quiet room on high floor but was very hot. Slept with window open and on top of quilt . Would have been too hot in a heat wave. The hotel have informed me that they have looked into this and resolved the issue.

Actually haven't completed our stay yet but all i can say is staff on reception (checked in at half one) were excellent very welcoming .
Asked for a request à short while later which the receptionist personally delivered to our room.
Cleanliness was impressive and the pool and gym though small was well presented( staff welcoming again).
Staying in family room (party of 4) spacious enough , extra pillows in wardrobe lots of hangers , give credit to staff when its earned.

Stayed there with my family on Friay 18th May on our way to Birmngham and we were very impressed with the standards, cleanliness and how nice the hotel staff were.

Our room was spotless (checked both rooms) and is obvious that the hotel staff have been busy decorating. I must however praise the night staff as they went over and above the call of duty to serve us drinks and coffee even after the bar close down. Very friendly and offer good customer care. The breakfast was also very good and my daughter did not eat anything for the rest of the day. Freshly cooked eggs, fresh pastries, lots of fresh fruit to chose from and the ladies serving us were very helpful.

Thank you to all of you who made our short stay very comfortable and offered as a good service.
