Mixed review ,postives plenty of free on site parking, nice resturant and bar area, Not so positive , room was small, got a twin despite booking a double, bit tatty and bathroom needs to be upgraded.

Waited about 10 minutes to get served in the bar, some people left after waiting to get served. Eventually got a drink, decided to order a bar meal. While the member of staff was taking my order the phone went, he left me, and spent about another 5-6 minutes taking a room service order while I stood here, staff training may be an issue here.

Got my meal , but no cutlery, member of staff told me give me a couple of minutes and I will get this for you. After about 5 minutes I had to go up to the bar to ask for these?

Not sure if there are not enough sfaff, lack of training or I just got them on a bad night? Would I stay again , not sure!!!!!

Stayed one night after business trip to Manchester, good location just off junction 6 of M61. From the moment we checked in to checking out the following morning the staff were very friendly and helpful. Did not use the pool but although we had a room along the corridor we could not smell chlorine in either the corridor or our room. Service in the bar was quick and friendly, and the young lady in the restaurant was charming. Couldn’t do enough for us, we ordered 2 glasses of red wine which we thought were off, but not being experts could not really tell. She changed them both without a second thought. On leaving the following morning the two reception staff were again friendly and helpful, with a genuine, “have a safe trip”, and not the usual “have a nice day” valediction. Would stay there again without hesitation. And not even mentioned the price, bed and breakfast which was cheaper than than a well known Inn (room only) nearby.

A pleasant enough stay, attentive and friendly staff but hotel desperately in need of a full refurbishment - however I guess the price reflected this. Overbearing smell of chlorine from the pool throughout the hotel and room unbearably hot with no climate control. Dinner was average; soup was only tepid but breakfast buffet was hot and tasty.

My sister and I stayed for 2 nights, and as has been said previously, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast on the first morning was more than ample and in plentiful supply, however, this was not the case on the Sunday morning. There had been a wedding reception the night before which caused absolutely no problems at all, except that the amount of guests who stayed the night had been totally mis-calculated for breakfast the following morning. We left it late, only half and hour before breakfast cut off time, but although there were only a couple of tables still in use, we could not find a clean one, we took a table which had been set for four and only a couple of place settings had been used. No one came to offer a beverage, and when I went up to serve my self there was nothing left but a few baked beans!!!, no juice, no bread, no butter, no cold or cooked food. Unfortunately this caused me to panic as I am Diabetic and had already taken my morning Insulin and medication which meant I had to eat within a limited time frame. I went to reception to complain and said we would be leaving swiftly and to to please be sure to not include that mornings' breakfast for two on my bill!!.

I went back into the dining room to get my sister, and we were then offered a beverage, but I needed to get some food quickly, so we declined and left. No refund was given as we were then told at reception that the food was being 'replenished'. I needed my reserve supplies which I keep in the car, so we did not challenge this, paid and left.

This was such a shame, we had a lovely time up until then and will gladly return, but not include breakfast as I would need to be sure of getting something to eat within a reasonable time.

Just one more point, it was a shame the jacuzzi was not working as this had been a deciding factor when booking, just what I needed for my tired bones!!! Enjoyed my swim though!

Stayed just the one night at this hotel, found whilst on internet, what a great find. Spacious comfortable clean room with good sized bathroom. We were visiting friends in Wigan so it was just ideal for us on a one night stopover. We were lucky to have breakfast included with the deal and it was very good, although buffet style, plenty of choice. The staff were so friendly and helpful, reception found us a taxi very quickly and even got us a good quote for it into the bargain. I thoroughly recommend this hotel,it was quiet around the rooms and not too busy whilst we were staying and has a pool and spa.Its not far from the M61/M6 and easy to get to.It has a large car park to the rear with easy access into the hotel with cases etc.

Have been meaning to write this review since our stay on the 24th August as we were so impressed with this hotel, I have now finally found the time. We stayed here for 1 night and picked this hotel due to its health club facilities for our teenagers and also because it was close to Manchester where we were off to the following day. The staff in this hotel are absolutely amazing from the check in staff up to the manager, you didn't have to wait long to be served at the bar, if the bar staff were busy the manager would run across from his office to serve you. The manager I have to say was amazing(sorry I cant remember your name) he couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The rooms were very very clean and nice and modern, we had a room on the top floor and didn't have any problems of it being too warm as some people have reported. The breakfast was fabulous and again the staff very friendly. My teenager kids loved the health club and were even allowed to use it after we had checked out in fact we couldn't get them out of there and spent time chatting to the wedding party that was there whilst waiting for them. There was a wedding the night we were there and guests turning up the following day for one but this didn't cause us any problems. My advise would be to take note of the positive reviews on here it really is great value for money and we will be booking again on our next trip to old trafford. Thanks to all for making our stay an enjoyable one.

Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel was the venue for the reception following my son and daughter-in-laws wedding on the 22nd September 2012.
The staff, especially Nadine were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. we have some gorgeous photographs in the garden area which has a lovely arch and courtyard. The reception room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and the meal and service were excellent. A bit of a hiccup with the cake, but from what I heard Nadine and her team jumped through hoops to get it right.
Our bedroom was very confortable with everything you need.
We had a fantastic day and evening and would recommend the hotel as a wedding venue.

Lovely hotel and lovely members of staff. I stayed at the hotel the night of a wedding reception the staff throughout it all were very polite always smiling and talking to us. The hotel itself was very clean, tidy and modern. Beds extremely comfy I can not find fault!

Stayed at the mercure Georgian house hotel, Bolton for two nights and got a really good deal by booking in advance. Ate in the hotel reataurant both nights and the food was fab, really good choice on the menu. Breakfast was equally as good. What made the stay really special was the staff, went out of their way to help out with directions by printing off a local map and after arriving quite late at the restaurant on the second night we weren't made to feel awkward, all the staff were really friendly. Lovely hotel, lovely people. Rooms were a good size and all areas were immaculate.

We stayed here after a business meeting and first impressions were great the spa was fairly basic compared to other Mercure hotels but we enjoyed a swim then a few drinks .the staff were friendly and chatty and then we had dinner ..... It was amazing !!!! We were the only two in the restaurant but the food was just gorgeous and the waitress was so lovely .i wish I could remember her name she was a petite brunette very chatty but so professional .
The only complaint I had was the girl doing breakfast crashed and banged the pots about and didn't serve anyone she was very rude

1st impressions last:
1. we had to wait a considerable time to be served on our arrival - there was only 1 person in reception (there was a wedding party/reception due later which may have accounted for the understaffing.
2. there were lots of flies buzzing around in reception
3. we arrived at 13:00 - fortunately 1 of our rooms was available but we were made aware that there was no guarantee that the 2nd room would be ready for 14:00 (not what you want to hear when a family of 5 have to get unpacked and ready for a wedding at 15:30)
4. at time of booking we had requested adjoing rooms as our 2 youngest children are 4 & 5 - unfortunately the rooms we were allocated were not adjoining, there weren't even opposite.
5. The double room we were allocated when we 1st arrived had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke - when we complained about the condition we were told that the problem was known and that the window had been open all morning and that air freshener had been used to get rid of the smell. We were appalled that the hotel management saw fit to allocate the room to any customers in it's condition.

Anyway, that's the bad bit...
What was altogether much better was the service we received after we made our complaint:
1. The housekeeper was very courteous and owned the problem - this allowed us to go out for a quick bite to eat (we'd travelled for over 2 hours to get there!) whilst they resolved the issue.
2. When we got back, we were told that we had been allocated adjoining rooms and the Manager made a personal check of the rooms before inviting us to our new rooms.
Our new rooms were clean and smelled fresh - we were pleased to personally thank the housekeeper.
3. We were able to get ready in time for the wedding and we couldn't fault the hotel after this point:
> The hotel was very convenient for attending the Brinsop Arms where the family wedding was taking place.
> It was quiet when we return from our wedding and we all had a good night's rest
> the breakfast experience was very good - wide range of food, readily available and freshly cooked
> we even took advantage of the hotel's pool after checking out on the Sunday

In summary: a good experience despite the initial issue but the Hotel management should not forget that '1st impressions last'!

Whilst my wife ane I enjoyed our stay, overall, we have the following points to mention:

1. Upon arrival, we were taken aback to find that, even on a Sunday, there were two(!) wedding receptions taking place on the ground floor of the hotel. Despite assurances, these clould be heard, and felt resonating through the walls, even in our top-floor room. However, on the plus side, they were not over-intrusive and did end , as advised at 01:00.

2. The room was tiny and, I fely, poorly lit.
3. Although comfortable, the bed springs were noisy and clearlty in evidence when getting in or out of bed.
4. The hotel was well-maintained with ample parking.
5. The breakfasts wer amazing, both in respect of quality and quantity.
6. Free wi-fi was available only in the Lounge. It would have been nice to have it free in the room.

WE WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN.

I have stayed here with work 5 times in last last couple months. The service is good and its priced competitively. Also the breakfast is excellent. The two problems with the hotel are firstly it doesn't have air con and the hotel rooms are absolutely red hot. The window only opens about 6 inches and I could hardly sleep.

The second problem is the food. Although the service is very good the food is pretty awful value for money, the stone baked pizza for about £13 is basically just a frozen iceland pizza! I had a chicken breast burger for about the same price and it was dry - a massive bread bun and small bit of chicken. Also the sirloin steak again was poor especially for £20.

Finally there is a gym and pool which are okay but on 2 occasions when I was staying the female lockers were being fixed and so men had to use the females lockers and females the males. This would have been okay except there was nobody on the reception at the gym and men kept walking into the male lockers whilst women were getting changed !!! I'm sure there must have been some official complaints, this is pretty bad.

To summarise id recommend staying here but not in the summer and find somewhere else to eat.

Good location, close to Motorway links both North and South and Reebok stadium. overlooking very pleasant scenery. Plenty of free parking to rear of the hotel. Gym, swimming pool, sauna etc complimentary to guests. Nicely decorated and staff very pleasant. Recommend booking bed and breakfast as breakfast is quite expensive at £13.95. We stayed for 2 nights in the annexe at the rear of the hotel, very quiet, and scrupulously clean, however the room was small. Complimentary tea and coffee in rooms. Good quality furnishings and flat screen tv but free wi-fi only available in main foyer. Breakfast room very good and plenty of choices for breakfast. Bar/restaurant in front of hotel but we did not use the facilities. Will deffinately return to this hotel as visit Bolton regularly , really enjoyed our 1st stay here. Close enough to shops and stadium as well as town centre but far enough away to enjoy a bit of peace and quitet.

I have stayed at the Mercure Georgian around six or seven times in the last two months. During this time I have also stayed at the De Vere Whites Hotel, Reebok Stadium, and also the Holiday Inn in Bolton centre. Overall, this hotel is, in my opinion, the best in the area.
The Mercure is located in the perfect position, only a two-minute drive to the M61 motorway, yet set in it's own picturesque grounds with peace and tranquility.
The hotel has a large, free, car park with ample car parking spaces. The reception is spacious, welcoming and there is always a member of staff to help with any queries.
The standard double or twin rooms are large and spacious with the usual complement of tea/coffee making, toiletries, flat-screen TV etc. If you rrequire an iron/ironing board or anything else for that matter simply ask reception and it's done for you. Nothing seems to be a problem.
Breakfast is buffet-style with a fine choice of juices, fresh fruits and all you can eat from the hot cooked buffet, of which the quality is also high, not the usual run-of-the-mill cheap produce that is served up in many hotels.
An added bonus is the leisure facilities which are included in the price of your stay. There's the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a good-sized gym should you wish to use it.
Having said all of the above the hotel's strongest point, in my opinion, are the staff, who are polite and helpful at all times, this applying particularly to a guy called Andrew who runs the bar/lounge.
You could not wish to meet a more sincere, genuine, helpful person. He goes way, way beyond the call of duty to help and assist you whenever possible.
From my very first visit here he advised me of the local area, amenities and answered all my questions thoroughly and concisely. This guy is the ultimate professional - courteous, friendly and runs the bar and lounge meticulously at all times, whilst making you feel welcome and comfortable.
It is always a pleasure when I stay at the Georgian and I am sure you will receive and experience the same should you choose to stay here.
To the management of the Georgian: "Keep up the same standards and please pass my gratitude to Andrew for all his help during my stays".

I stayed here for one night to break up a motorcycle trip from Dundee to London. Large car park at the back of hotel, with easy access to the reception. Friendly and simple check-in. After about 4 hours on the bike the free use of the spa was very welcome. The sauna and steam room where good, although the floor of the sauna could have done with a bit of a clean. Smallish swimming pool, good for families. The room itself was fine, clean and tidy, comfy bed, nice bathroom. Good breakfast.
What lets this place down is the in room entertainment, wifi only seemed to be available in the lounge, not the rooms. If you wanted internet through the tv it was £5 an hour! Also a very small number of free tv channels available, there seem to be only about 15 channels, a £20 Freeview box provides about 4 times that number.
I only paid £30 for the room through a discount website, I believe the normal price would have been £45, so I was happy enough with what I received for £30.

This is a nice hotel but lets itself down in a few areas. The good points are the décor, furniture, location and the friendliness of the staff.
Checking in late in the afternoon on a relatively hot day, I was given a second floor room which although quite nice was very hot and had no air conditioning!
Ordering a coffee and fish and chips in the bar was an experience, it was 15 minutes before I got the coffee and a further 15 minutes before my food turned up. At the time of ordering, there was only 5 other people in the bar.
Breakfast in the restaurant was as good as buffet breakfasts go.
I don't like sharing meals with flies but had to in the bar and the restaurant.
A little attention to detail and this would be a really nice place to stay.

I am writing this review whilst still at the hotel, upon arrival the check in was very efficient and staff very friendly and polite, the room is very big and well equipped ,and we had a good nights sleep the bar isn't overpriced . The breakfast is buffet style and was very nice, the guest get free use of the indoor pool . To sum this hotel up all we can say is that all the staff are very helpful and polite. It is very good value for money and the hotel is a credit to the manager
