I stay here whenever I visit my UK distributor. Time to give props...great property, bar, WI FI location.

I wish they offered more than a traditional English Breakfast. We Americans like our Omlettes...I am tomatoed out :)

Stayed one night- good facilities- pool etc, food and service very good; breakfast was excellent. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and considerate .Appearance of hotel spoilt when you drive out by broken fencing showing unkempt area of ground with pile of discarded tyres etc.

We had booked a superior room, which put us on the top floor. We didn't think the "superior" just meant higher up!!! The bed was only just about big enough to be a double. We complained, and were moved to the first floor and a reasonable sized room with a decent bed. Everything else was fine.

After a very good all round stay in Room 770 10 days or so earlier (3-5 April) this stay 14-15 April in Room 892 was a disappointment. The room is in the attic and a odd shape and no sofa. One window was filthy (maybe a problem with access at this height) and the full length curtains on both windows covered the radiator under each window which is daft as does not let warmth out. If the radiator valve on one radiator was set above 2 there was an enormous graunching screech and had to be turned down. The keyboard to use with on-TV internet was dead so no internet by this means. The TV was so far away from the bed that the TV remote was out of range from the bed. My burger served in the bar was overdone and leathery but when mentioned to the delightful Irene she was most apologetic and organised a free drink. Irene's people and customer relations skills are excellent and she should be running the hotel (she probably does !!). Breakfasts on both visits were very good but why no black pudding - this is Lancashire !?. I mentioned the radiator valve and keyboard to reception on checkout. Can I have Room 770 back next time?

Stayed here for one night and also attended a conference here the next day. Check in was fast and pleasant, we went to the restaurant for dinner which was lovely. The person I travelled with is a celiac but the waitress was really good and checked with the chef to make sure he could cook what she wanted the way she needed to have it-I thought it was brilliant that they were so accommodating. Breakfast the next day was also really good with plenty of choice.

The room was huge and just what I expected really (although it was a little cold!)

The reception staff were really friendly and helpful with ordering taxis etc, I'd definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

I travelled with a group,of friends, visiting the area for a family celebration. On our arrival we received a warm welcome from the staff and allocated rooms swiftly. At first glance the room was fine. Clean and airy, although very warm. That said, we had a large window which we were able to open wide as we were in the loft. The bar made a great meeting place and we used this several times. The bar staff were very friendly, particularly Irene, who went out of her way to look after us. However, as mentioned in a previous review it was sometimes difficult to get the right drinks and we were often served one drink at a time! The one major downside was the mattresses, in all our rooms. One of our friends had to ask if a duvet could be put under the sheet as she and her husband had spent the first night with springs sticking into her. Our bed was not as bad but made a terrible noise when you moved. Clearly this is not the first time that this has been mentioned to the management and I would have expected that an organisation the size of the Mercure would have rectified this more swiftly, being aware of the problem. A real shame as this spoils an otherwise really pleasant hotel.

This was the second time this year I have stayed at this hotel and I just can't find fault. The staff are amazingly friendly and attentive and was shocked to discover they remembered me from my previous trip at the start of the year. The evening meals and breakfast were excellent and all served with a large slice of friendliness. I stayed in room 321 which had an ample size bathroom with an assortment of toiletries, corner suite, large wide screen TV with Internet and a very large comfortable bed. The only possible criticism would be that the room was facing the main road although noise was minimal and certainly did not effect my nights sleep. I intend to visit friends in the area over the course of the coming year and will look no further than this wonderful hotel for use as a base. A big than you to all the staff and the hotel manager Eric for making my stay this weekend so pleasurable.

Stayed 2 nights in room 448 which was an executive room - free films, internet, better toiletries, newspapers. Room was fine but noise from swimming pool mechanical and ventilation is fairly intrusive and constant. I did ask about being moved but as it was close to midnight when I arrived could not face it. Next day staff were v good at trying to find different room but could not offer executive level. We lived with the noise. Main bed was fine but the folding bed was uncomfortable. Lovely friendly service at breakfast which we though worth the £9 extra. Room quality OK and quite big but what makes it good and one we'd use again is the staff being friendly and helpful - more welcoming than posh hotels we've stayed in. Overall good value for money. My wife and I stayed for 4 nights, this is the forth time we have stayed here, the staff are friendly, they even remembered my wife's preference for tea
We had an evening meal and that also was good, my wife only requested sandwiches but we still had them in the dinning room
All together we will stay there again . It is close to Middle-broke where the Reebok stadium is and far enough from the motorway as to have no noise
Would definitely recommend this hotel

The staff members Kristian, Ashley and Andrew are fantastic ambassadors for this hotel. Stayed here for 2 months so far and they have been great. I have been well looked after so far during my time here and I would highly recommend a stay. The food has also been very good

I stayed at the Georgian House Hotel in March 2013 while on business in the area. I was attracted by a very good price when booking in advance, and also by the location - as I was visiting Bolton Arena, it made little sense to stay in the centre of town.

The two highlights of my stay were the friendly welcome I got from the staff & the food. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, I got the impression that everyone was prepared to bend over backwards to help the guests. A special mention goes to the waitress in the restuarant who made my evening meal a very enjoyable experience & helped me decide between two main courses! The food itself was excellent, and I'd heartily recommend the sea bass to anyone staying at the hotel.

As previous reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast had a little room for improvement. I wasn't down as soon as the restuarant opened, and so found several empty dishes in the buffet which weren't replenished during the time I was having my breakfast. Another guest on a nearby table seemed quite put out that she couldn't find any marmelade. In contrast to the evening before, the service was a little slow & I was a fair way through my breakfast before anyone appeared to ask if I wanted tea or coffee. It wasn't a bad breakfast experience by any means, but could've been improved.

The room itself was a little dated, but was clean, warm, quiet & gave a fairly good night's sleep. The only particular gripes I've got were the lack of bedside tables & the fact that only one of the two plugs in the room appeared to work. It was refreshing not to be patronised though - there wasn't a sign warning that the hot water might be hot, even though it was extremely warm.

Overall, I had a really good stay for a very cheap price. I'll certainly stay again if I'm back in the area.

I abandoned a trip to Scotland because of blizzard conditions on the M61, so I was grateful for a warm welcome from the friendly receptionist. The Georgian House seems to specialise in weddings and conferences, so the public areas were fresh and pleasant. However, the hotel really doesn't match Mercure's usual standards. The decor in my room was old-fashioned, the toilet didn't flush properly and the door did not close reliably (a potential security problem). I complained twice that the function suite below my bedroom was pumping out loud music; to her credit, the manager personally took care of my second complaint.

I had dinner in the restaurant and my table in the restaurant hadn't been cleaned properly. The starter and main course were good, but the bread-and-butter pudding I had for dessert was very poor.

Overall, it wasn't a bad stay but there were just too many niggles for me to recommend the Georgian House.

We stayed for three nights whilst visiting friends, a competitive price, easy to find location and just a stones throw away from the motorway so great for getting about.

Very friendly and pleasant staff, clean and tidy first impression. Ample parking.

We booked a standard room as it was purely a base to sleep, room on top floor was of a good size, clean, ensuite was larger than most with a bath and shower over again clean. The room had tea and coffee facilities, a trouser press, tv with limited channels and often poor reception.

The bed was a standard double, clean and good quality bedding but a terrible mattress, to say it was a sprung mattress is an understatement as every time you moved you felt everyone of them. In desperate need of an upgrade. Furniture a little dated and some was damaged.

Top tip- book your breakfast the night before as its £9 instead of £13 on the day. Breakfast was of good quality, buffet style. Although during our stay, the hotel was quite so service and refills were a little slow.

Overall the hotel is good value and probable worth a room upgrade.

On the night I was there the hotel was holding a wedding reception with a disco. There seemed to be no soundproofing on the annex where the reception was held, and the noise from the disco carried into all the rooms at the back of the hotel, even mine on the third floor!

To be fair, the staff did move me to another room when I complained, which was ok, even if there was a busy road going past the window.

Generally the hotel was clean, if a little tired looking. Service was variable, depending on which member of staff you were talking to - most of them just looked exhausted. There was free wifi in the lobby, which was helpful, as I couldnt get reception for my mobile connection in my room.

The hotel is cheap for a Mercure, and I can see why. But it is probably decent value if you can manage to avoid Saturday nights and wedding receptions.

I just loved the food here and the service from the staff. Mention to Ashley in the bar / restaurant for being ace. The rooms aren't as lush as I expected for that grade of hotel, but there's no knocking the facilities with an onsite gym and ample parking. Bar is a bit pricey but to be expected for this grade of hotel, but it's in Bolton which in itself is the end of the earth so they could do something I'm sure. It's a bit off the beaten track I thought but still handy enough. Would I go again? Yes

On arrival at the hotel the reception staff were fantastic, they were during the stay,. When we required a taxi they ordered one and then continued to chase it up until it arrived.
On return to the hotel that evening we were very disappointed with the evening bar staff as 1 of them had his back to the room and continued talking to a group of men totally oblivious to the rest of the bar, the other waiter was talking to the receptionist again totally oblivious to the people in the bar. We waited for 10 minutes and eventually left.

The room was acceptable apart from the dirty stains around the toilet on the floor. There was only 1 set of towels out and on looking for them we found them wrapped up in a polythene bag in the wardrobe. The bed was disgraceful you could feel the springs all night to the extent I woke up with a mark on my leg from the springs, on talking to friends that where also staying there the bed they had was the same.

When we went for breakfast no one was there to greet us and take our payment chit off us. There was no fresh fruit on arrival it finally was replenished when we had finished our breakfast. They ran out of bacon and sausages so we had to wait again for them to be replenished by the time the sausage came my husband had finished his breakfast.

We complained to the duty manager about all the above and he was extermely apologetic, he did reimburse our breakfast cost and said he would follow the other complaints up and get back to us , so hopefully they will.
The hotel was quiet and what breakfast we had was good but they definitely need to look at the other comments.

After reading some reviews we were worried about staying on a Saturday night in case of noise from functions but we had a room on the top floor at the end of a corridor so we didn't hear a thing all night.
Check in was friendly and efficient and the layout of the hotel was explained to us, our room was nice with a king size bed and the only issue was the lack of bed side cabinets on either side ! We asked for more coffee and sugar and they were delivered within 10 minutes .
The swimming pool looked inviting but we didn't have time , if we were in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to stay again

When we arrived before check in time we were offered a seat in the bar, the receptionist said she would arrange for our room to be made ready next and she would let us know when it was ready, we had a leisurely coffee in the bar where the bar staff were lovely too. We were shortly informed our room was ready. The room was basic but clean.
Using this as a base to travel to Manchester it was ideally placed, a couple of minutes from the motorway and about 20 minutes from the Trafford Centre. The swimming pool and gym were basic and small but OK. We ate in the restaurant and the service was a little slow but food was good. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Hotel was easy to find, and plenty of parking at the rear. Reception was large and bright and check in was dealt with quickly, and staff helpful. Room was large and bright, with tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom was a good size, only fault was the shower which was not very powerful.. Evening meal taken both nights, excellent varied menu, service was attentive, and the food was excellent quality. Breakfast was buffet style, full English, variety of fresh fruit and cereals. To sum up, a lovely hotel where we enjoyed 2 nights, the staff were friendly and helpful(especially so the restaurant staff) and we would definitely stay again. We were aware of some complaints in the restaurant on the second night but to be honest we could not understand where they were coming from as it was a relaxed atmosphere where staff did not rush you and food could be enjoyed.

Stayed here for one night on business. It was fine but nothing out of the ordinary. There was a party going on in one of the function rooms which was a little noisy and the restaurant was completely empty, me and one other person. Food was ok too but again nothing amazing. The staff were very hepful and friendly!
