We chose this hotel because it could offer accommodation for the whole family at a good price. Being a friend meant we had rooms at a good rate, free welcome drinks and vouchers for wine etc. The Spa facilities was great as it meant the whole family could use the swimming pool and for adult members there was the Thermal Suite and gym available. The quirkiness of the hotel was also attractive with its little street of shops. There were also plenty of walks. The food was excellent and the service made our golden wedding anniversary celebrations special.

I had a delightful stay here over the weekend. The room was clean and ready for us upon arrival, ensuring a smooth check-in experience. Although the decor is a bit outdated, it adds a charming touch to the overall ambiance. The staff is welcoming and friendly, always ready to assist with a smile. Their hospitality truly enhanced our stay, making us feel right at home. Overall, it's a great place to stay if you appreciate cleanliness, comfort, and excellent service. Highly recommended for a pleasant and hassle-free experience.

Went to a wedding reception, the Penny Farthing Suite where it was held was decorated nicely , really spot on in every respect. Food and bar service was excellent.

Nice little break The room, scenery, bar area, local pub.He spa and thermal journey was brilliant. Loved the infinity pool, shame about the view, spoiled by a new housing estate. It used to look over the hills. The noise following a wedding, at 2am guests were gathering in the courtyard, smoking and chatting. We were in a room overlooking the courtyard so the noise woke us up. It continued for over an hour. Shame really.

Was a nice stay but had a few quirks that impacted the stay. If I could give any advice it would be to avoid the breakfast

Went today for a spa day, all staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly and do anything to help, always asking if they can help. Facilities were fab and really enjoyed our time here. Would definitely return to try other treatments. Left feeling so relaxed, clean and happy, thank you.

Have stayed before, but second to last day had some rowdy guests which staff dealt with though. Think this was a hen party.

The hotel is in a great spot with fabulous views over the west Pennine moors, now slightly reduced by the new housing development. Plenty of friendly and helpful staff on hand to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The executive king room was a little dated, but clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom including a very welcome full size bathtub - very rare in modern hotels!

I really enjoyed my stay. Room 208 was a little dated but over all ok. The spa was the best bit. The restaurant was nice and breakfast was lovely. Not to busy but a nice atmosphere

Overall we liked it. beautiful nature, comfortable mattress, good spa the toilet flush worked very poorly, in several places there were large stains black mold in the bathroom
complete lack of soundproofing, steps in the hallway are heard as if in your own room

Really enjoyable stay here. The village set up is really pretty. The room was a bit pricey compared to other hotels Ive The room was very spacious we had a double cottage room. Location was great. The on site facilities were fantastic. Although clean and tidy the room could have done with freshening up.

Had a very nice family room 105
Nice big rooms , let down a little by lack of hangers , bath was grubby under the taps possible as awkward area to clean
No A/C but old type fan in room which was very dusty and when hubby turned on blew dust over bed
Quality furnishings and lovely fluffy towels
2 bottles of water and a treat really nice touch
Just a few minor tweaks but very comfortable room
Spa and grounds beautiful but the reception ladies toilets were not flushing while we were there.
The reason I cannot go higher than 3 was the Breakfast and the food in the Drop inn
Awful breakfast , nothing replenished waiting in line like school kids and when served over cooked and the worst fried eggs I have ever seen
Badly cooked food no one to blame but the chef I would be ashamed to serve up
Waiting staff appeared embarrassed and confused and no offers of coffee or tea top ups
Would we return Yes we would but not sure if would eat there ? lots to do in the pub area for the family but sadly quiet when we went for dinner but given the food it’s no wonder limited menu and was awful we left most on our plates
I remember when the last drop was renowned for its restaurant it needs a chef and management and assessment .
Grounds beautifully kept executive rooms lovely
Spa lovely and lots of seating around the whole village , good value for what we paid

The surrounding area is gorgeous, with a nice 15 minute walk to shops like the co-op.
Our first three nights we had the standard room which was located in a small courtyard with fountain next to it. It was next to the bar and restaurant-which was convenient. The standard room was so clean, and also a good price and size!
We extended another night and upgraded to the next room type- which is considerably better. The receptionist was able to check us in early to our next room which was very kind of her and made it so we could go to our new room and not be disturbed- thank you to her and the HSK team for their quick work!
The spa was amazing. We got our moneys worth! The main pool was lovely and cool, and the thermal pool nice and hot. The middle sauna, blue lighted steam room were fantastic and relaxing. There was an issue with the halo-therapy room and one steam room in that it smelt badly like a mixture of sweat and urine- not sure if that was the aim of it, however I wasn’t a fan of inhaling those smells so I chose to avoid it. My partner and I had 2 treatments each. The first, a massage, back scrub and scalp massage. My partner hates massages but this may have changed his mind. Then the next day, a full body massage each. My partner and I, however tender the days after, feel amazing, and I can see a definite change in the way he is carrying himself.
There was a fantastic spa worker with blonde hair and a hearing aid- sorry, I didn’t get her name, but she was a dream. So chatty and welcoming! She looked quite stressed one day, but she was incredibly patient and hardworking to myself and other patrons waiting to be served. We never felt like an inconvenience to her, so thank you!
The bar and restaurant staff were fantastic- especially the gentleman with brown hair and glasses-I believe he was the bar supervisor. The staff made our drinks quickly and were nice to chat with. Breakfast in the restaurant was lovely. The food was hot and quick. The only issue we had with breakfast was room service on our first day- we learnt our lesson! Having already prepaid for breakfast in our booking, to the room incurred an additional £8 per person tray charge. We were on holiday, so didn’t mind… until we saw how much food we got. My partner wanted sausages, eggs, beans and bacon…. He got 1 small sausage, 1 hard fried egg, 2 pieces of bacon and 1 hash brown- no beans. We were so taken back by the pitiful portion that we laughed. I think it would be a good idea to explain on the room service cards that by checking that you want an item of food, to put the quantity? I am still quite annoyed that we paid £16 room service charge on top of our already paid breakfast for that pitiful portion!
The food in the bar and restaurant was to die for. Incredibly quick service, it was tasty and worth the price. I will be dreaming of the potato and leek soup, and my partner enjoyed the beef burger twice!
Thank you for our lovely stay. I am nit-picky because we do not get the chance to holiday often- and despite the cons of our stay, it did not affect our love for this place.
