Bolton just been placed on Lockdown.

No Restaurant or Bar Food served in the hotel communal areas. Food can be delivered to your room.
Bar is out of bounds except to collect drinks that can taken outside or to your room.
Distancing measures are imposed but hard to impose.
Bar closes at 10pm which was not advised during the check in process. No opportunity to have drinks delivered after this time.
Breakfasts are room service only

The first room I was offered had a leaking shower valve and the bath half full. The porter assured me the room had been serviced during the long months of Covid closure.
Moved to a second room which I doubted had been comprehensively cleaned as I found a dirty shelf in the bathroom

I’ve had previous visits here and over time the enthusiasm to return is waning, such a pity as Bolton needs better local accommodation

Unsure if will return Was a break away Toilet didnt work properly, paid for executive double room got put in executive family room. No towels or robes in the room. Ordered breakfast in bed and didn't get what ordered. Paid full price and half facilities not available and staff was not informing of pool limitations and that had to book to enter the pool. Staff also quiet abrupt when checking in with everyone that checked in

Would stay again if visiting Bolton Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough. Room seemed tired, carpet stained, though all was clean and tidy. No fault of the staff.

We got a reasonable deal on a one night stay including dinner and breakfast. Aside from the pool and gym - which were both very nice, I'd describe the experience as rather basic. The check in was rather shambolic with everyone arriving at the same time and social distancing meaning that people were queued up out in the car park and the pouring rain. The evening meal was insanely salty and the loud music from the bar area could be heard in our room, despite it being some distance away. The room was clean aside from a fairly grim hairball by the bed.

During social distancing times it would make sense for them to encourage their guests to use room service, instead it's a £5 tray charge on even a cup of coffee, with the result that everyone goes to collect their drinks from what is a very small and enclosed bar area.

The staff were nice, but we had a wrong order arrive during our dinner and another wrong order arrive at breakfast. Not sure how it happened when on both occasions our orders were typed into their tablets.

I'd say it's worth visiting only if you're getting a good deal on the price. The experience may also improve after lockdown / social distancing etc has come to an end.

Called in for a drink and hoped for a Sunday lunch yesterday, 6th Sept, & considered staying overnight on our way to Scotland... Its just as cute & interesting as it always was when we used to stay here for weekends. This time we Hoped to have a brief but nice experience but very disappointed really. No Sunday lunch available on a Sunday at 1 pm but could get crisps at the bar....
Paid £11 For two SMALL glasses of wine...ok it's hotel prices, but no olives or small dish of nibbles is bad form.
But If we had ordered a hot chocolate, which is longer to prepare & less profit margin, we would have gotten a big dish of marshmallows.... I dont understand this rationale. So we decided to travel on . No wonder our European Spanish & French friends laugh at our weak hospitality services.
We won't be bringing them here.
On a positive note, the small outdoor pool is a great idea, but I dont fancy using it as it overlooks the car park so no privacy ...
The courtyard outside area was comfortable & well organised with large umbrellas and heaters, and the waiter was really pleasant and genuine.

Stayed over for my birthday and its was amazing. The staff and facilities couldn't have been better, definitely what me and my girlfriend needed after a horrible 2020. We also went to the wedding shop and spoke to liz who was fantastic with us in helping make our dream wedding come true. Had the most amazing hot stone massage from the masseur ellie and will be booking again very soon. All in all an amazing spa hotel with great staff, lovely rooms and delicious food.

Excellent stay Very clean good value for money and friendly welcoming staff! There wasn’t anything that we didn’t like however when using the spa facilities we felt as though we should have been aloud longer than 10 minutes access to the hydrotherapy pool! However we also understand that COVID will restrict things like this! Overall very nice stay!

We stayed here on the nhs deal which includes a meal in the restaurant and breakfast the next morning. I am celiac so my boyfriend emailed to check there was gluten free options available, we were told there was (but still went with the idea that we might have to order a takeaway if not)

We couldn’t fault the evening meal in terms of gluten free. The server checked with the kitchen and I ordered soup for starter and lamb for main. The soup also came with a gf bread roll. I was really impressed with this as gluten free in most places is very limited but the server genuinely seemed to understand about gluten free.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing and I wasn’t sure the staff did fully understand what foods contained gluten. I was offered special K and bran flakes and told they looked to be gluten free. Fair enough they did get me to double check but slightly worrying. Gluten free bread was available which was nice but I could only have bacon and eggs (apparently the baked beans weren’t gluten free). Even for my partner who isn’t gluten free the breakfast wasn’t good and we would have been annoyed if we’d paid the £15 or whatever it is. As it’s not a buffet style anymore the kitchen plates the food up and the portion was very small (1 sausage etc) and the “British and continental cheese selection” was literally one cheese stick and a babybel which we found amusing but could be very annoying to some people.

Overall I would recommend to people with celiac disease but I would be extra careful to check especially with breakfast.

The staff where amazing from checking in to checking out! always asking if was ok if there was anything we needed so polite . The room was lovely and added touches was a treat *not the proseco*
we had the rump stake for our evening meal and that was also lovely great service unfortunately the pub was closed so we decided to go to the hotel bar! which I'm so glad we did, where we met a lovely bartender John! who made some great cocktails and was very entertaining. We really can not wait to go back there .

Stayed for 2 nights, 30th and 31st of August as a treat for my wife's birthday. Had a great stay in 2 lovely rooms, bars and restaurants were all first class. I was bowled over by the trouble the staff went to to make my wife's birthday special, massive thanks to Michelle, Franco, Yolanda and also the chef for the cake... fantastic!

Checkin was a breeze but finding our room was a hassle as we drove around the hotel twice before we got to the room as it’s not marked out anywhere.

My daughters had a separate room and hate spiders, they found at least 6. I even told them after getting rid of 3 at 11:00pm to call reception the next time.

The rooms are huge but they look a little tired. There was a draft in our bathroom from where the grout was missing and some of the levers and switches were falling apart.

The location is fantastic and the village shops are cute.
