I personally enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and historically interesting Hotel in Blackburn, it made an excellent choice in comparison to the bland Hilton I'd stayed in the night before for twice the price and none of the comfort, surroundings, service and beautiful bedroom (our room was upgraded too).
The House/Hotel is 800 years old so some areas do need some modernisation/redecoration however when I personally stay in an 800 year old historically interesting hotel I don't expect it to look like a Boutique hotel and don't want that either, the house/hotel is also haunted by a ghost named Lucette, we were shown around the areas of interest including The Oak Room and told all about the Previous Owners by a lovely & Informative member of staff named Mark who was genuinely interested in where he worked and the history and took interest in sharing the History & stories with us - what a delightful change - a member of the team interested enough to take time to share the history with us - Thank You Mark, very much appreciated.
Parking is fantastic and immediately outside the house on a gravelled driveway so very easy access.
Unfortunately we didn't make it to breakfast as overslept but I'm sure it would have been wonderful from what we saw in the rEstaurant the night before.

This was our first time visiting this hotel & we’ve enjoyed a wonderful stay; the room was lovely and very clean you can tell it’s a modern refurbishment which really added to the quality of our stay. We had dinner in the Cameos restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious with gorgeous presentation. The service was even better, Stuart, Courtney, Amanda and Theo were superb! They definitely made a last impression and we friendly from start to finish. Overall, great experience and we will look forward to returning in the future.

We came for a lovely little trip away and everyone was so lovely and made our experience incredibly special!
Our waitress Lily was a little angel, so sweet and generous and so lovely to chat to♥️.
Then Wilma at breakfast was working so hard, very attentive and made sure everyone had what they needed.
Two very amazing members of staff that made our experience the absolute best!
Thank you xx

Stayed for w/e at the hotel which is full of character and old and rambling extensions which do not reflect the character of the 700yrs old building. The executive room we had was clean and spacious.. though long convoluted walk from the reception. The staff Kenny, Samuel and Chuti were particularly professional and helpful in their interactions. I only had one poor interaction at reception with Paul who was the least professional and helpful during our stay. The breakfast was good and restaurant was clean. The setting is excellent in the countryside and a pleasure to take the drive and arrive at the hotel.

Old rambling hotel… I am sure has seen better days..the staff esp Kenny, Chuti and Samuel were particularly professional and helpful.. much appreciated. The executive room was in good state with good shower, just the extensions of the hotel can be confusing. The breakfast is fine with clean restaurant and help staff

Great Service at Mercure Dunkenhalgh
I’ve been staying at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh in Clayton-le-Moors regularly over the past two years and have always had a very good experience.
I’d especially like to mention Arica at reception, who has always been friendly, helpful and professional. She has made me feel very welcome during my stays and has always provided excellent customer service.
Arica also helped make my birthday stay extra special, which I really appreciated. It’s always nice to be greeted by someone who is friendly and takes the time to make sure everything is going well.
Overall, I’ve always enjoyed my stays at the hotel, and the excellent service from the reception team is a big part of that.
Thank you, Arica, for all your help and for always making me feel welcome. You’re a real credit to the hotel

Exceptional Service and a Truly Special Welcome
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh in Clayton-le-Moors many times over the past two years, and I wanted to take a moment to give a special mention to Semoyal at reception.
Semoyal is an absolute credit to the hotel. From the moment I arrive, I’m always made to feel genuinely welcome and valued. The level of customer service, kindness and professionalism is exceptional, and it’s clear that Semoyal truly cares about making guests feel comfortable and appreciated.
What makes the experience even more special is the personal touch. Over the years, Semoyal has helped make my stays memorable, including making my birthday feel particularly special. Those small gestures and the genuine warmth shown make a huge difference and are something I really appreciate.
When you stay somewhere regularly, it’s the people who make you want to keep coming back — and Semoyal is definitely one of those people. The consistency, friendliness and outstanding service have made a lasting impression on me.
Thank you, Semoyal, for everything you do and for always making me feel so welcome. You are a real asset to the Mercure Dunkenhalgh, and your hard work and dedication absolutely deserve to be recognised.
Thank you for making every stay feel special. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Stayed here whilst in the area on business. The check in process was friendly and prompt (don’t forget to register vehicle details on the machine to avoid a possible fine). No issues with the facilities in the room. I decided to eat in the bar and was served by Mal and Callum who were both fantastic. Both were very attentive and met my every need.

Great hotel, quite quirky. The Bar restraint was great, food lovely thanks to Ben, top chef. Shout out to Mal who leapt from behind the bar to save us from an imminent wasp sting, and Oliver who somehow enchanted said wasp back from the dead. Friendly service and atmosphere.
