Sam on the desk checked us is and he was probably the most polite check in member I have ever dealt with! He did his best to allocate us a room near other family members and it was appreciated massively.

We stayed for 2 nights in March 26.
To use the hotel as a base for motorcycle touring.
The hospitality was second to none. Staff were courteous and the food was wonderful. The rooms were clean and well maintained The gym and Spa were much appreciated. We will return without hesitation.

I didn’t stay over I just used the spa. Facilities are great for the price but the changing rooms badly need a make over. They are dated and some of the lockers are broken.
Spa treatment offered in the price was amazing. 10/10 to Ellie who gave me an amazing back massage and facial. Great treatments at this hotel. Steam room and saunas are very good. Please just invest and update the changing rooms!

Stayed here recently with a large family group and was very happy. The hotel is massive and can easily cater for large groups.
There is ample parking out front which is included in your stay as long as you remember to put your registration into the system.
Check in was efficient and after navigating the maze of corridors I found my massive room. The room itself was modern and clean but had some minor things which needed fixing or touching up to make it perfect.
The need for minor touch ups or updating is a common theme around the hotel but not to extent that it detracts from your visit.
The bar was cosy and well appointed with plenty of seating and reasonable prices. It is situated next to the large restaurant which was easily able to accomodate our group of 19 for dinner and breakfast.
Dinner has a great selection of food on offer and the breakfast buffet has all of your usual options from a full English, cold meat, cereal and cold meats.
I didn't try it myself during this visit but I know there is a pool here which I saw some other families going to try out.

I’ve been visiting the area for work and am so glad I chose Mercure Dunkenhalgh to stay!
The location is perfect for access across Lancashire, the building itself is beautiful with some stunning state rooms and a beautiful courtyard, the whole vibe is very relaxed and the staff are so attentive and friendly!
I must mention in particular Sam on the reception desk, who made my check in and out really easy and handled my requests brilliantly!!
I would definitely recommend staying here, and look forward to returning!

Positives- beautiful hotel with lovely clean rooms, thermal suite was gorgeous. Staff were friendly. Free parking.
Negatives- it is really disappointing that the family swim times are not clear on the website, we could only see standard swim times, we only realised children were limited to time in the pool after booking. We often book hotels with a swimming pool and can usually use the facilities before check in, so it was a big let down that we couldn’t use the pool until 3.30pm. Everyone knows that most children eat dinner at around 5pm so that left us with hardly any time in the pool. We honestly would have stayed somewhere else if we knew this!

Although the rooms are a bit dated they’re clean and comfortable. The staff made our stay very special, they were all so attentive, helpful and kind. From reception, to the spa to the restaurant staff, you all make this a place to remember and definitely to return to. Especially Kim, Vilma, both Sarah’s in the treatment rooms, Bonnie, lenny, Arica, Julia, Ben & Aziz. You’re all a credit to Mercure Dunkenhalgh.

I called in this delightful hotel today for lunch with a friend and we were warmly greeted by reception staff. Aziz promptly attended to us in the lounge bar in such a pleasant and friendly professional manner. The quality of the food we had was superb so compliments to the chef and kitchen team too. I hope to return when in the area in the future. Special thanks to Aziz who is a credit to your hotel.

We were wedding guests on the weekend ,had a great time at Dunkenhalgh.A special arrangement for parking were made to avoid fines ,which shows positive side of the management. Historic building and spacious wedding suite ,a special name mention to Luke and semoyal ,both sorted out things for us and made our function memorable.

We stayed in the new wing side ,a decent walk but worthy as building has a beautiful staircase and nice function areas. Nice bar area and staff was friendly and helpful throught our stay. Sam at the desk provided all the hotel information and make it sure with the courtesy call if everything fine ,he was professional and polite .
