UlverSTEM gives 6 – 16 year olds the chance to discover more about the opportunities to be gained from studying the STEM subjects; Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

This free event takes place on Saturday 9th November between 10am – 3pm and showcases Ulverston’s world- leading technologies with the aim of inspiring the next generation.

The challenge is back on – come along to find out more about how STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) contribute to the amazing local businesses we have here on the Furness Peninsula.

The day will be full of enjoyable, interactive activities  and new for this year they’ve also got the Laurel & Hardy Museum for some extra fun shows, talks and demonstrations.

There’s also the chance to meet local employers offering careers linked to STEM including the likes of Bender UK, Siemens, GSK, Oxley Developments and Chris Brammall.

Cumbria does suffer from a skills shortage, particularly in science, technology, engineering and maths. UlverSTEM will highlight how these subjects are relevant in the ‘real world’ and how important these skills are to local businesses.

Giving youngsters the chance to get involved with fun challenges, whilst finding out more about the world- leading technological companies on their doorstep is vital in bringing the next generation of highly skilled local people into these industries.
