So put those masks on, grab your broomsticks, cradle your pumpkin under your arm and head off to check out some of these spooktacular events…

Saturday 21st October - Spooky Children's Crafts at Ford Park

Prepare for Halloween with spooky-themed children's crafts at Ford Park.

There's two sessions to choose from - 2-3pm and 3-4pm - and the cost is £5 per accompanied child. Limited spaces so please call 01229 581666 to book.


Monday 23rd – Friday 27th October – Witches and Wizards Week at Lakeside Railway

Spooky Halloween fun at Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.

Monday 23rd October - Friday 27th October

A week of Witches, Wizards, Ghosts and Ghouls at Haverthwaite and the Lakes Aquarium.

Can you spot the haunted carriage? Its been trapped forever in Haverthwaite tunnel, lets hope you don’t get stuck there too!!!

Complete the ‘Ghoul Trail’ and ride to Lakeside for more spooky fun at the Aquarium.

(Please note: FREE train ride and entry into the Lakes Aquarium for kids in fancy dress! Must be travelling with a full paying adult.)


Tuesday 24th October - Halloween Party at The Nautical

Boys and Ghouls are welcome to come along to the Nautical on Walney for a fantastic Halloween Party!

Tuesday October 24th

1pm - 3pm

Puppet show, disco, fun and games, meet Freddie, duck apple and prizes for the best dressed boy and ghoul.

Spooky fun for your little ones this Halloween with fun & adventures at Park Leisure Centre.

Join Park Leisure Centre this half term for a Halloween Spooktacular Playmax playtime.

Spooky fun for your little ones this Halloween with fun & adventures in the soft play area, plus bouncy castle, toys & games to play in the sports hall. All to frightfully good music! 

Fancy dress with prize for the best dressed plus a treat bag for all children.

It’s ideal for children up to 8 years.

No booking required but sessions will be limited to 45 min sessions if necessary due to numbers.

Halloween fun at Holker Hall and Gardens 26th - 29th October.

Wicked Walk in the Holker Garden on Thursday 26th October at 2.30pm
Join the Holker guide on a Halloween walk full of mystery and spooky shadows in the magical garden. 
£3.50 per person. Fancy dress encouraged. Children must be accompanied, suitable for 3 years upwards. Pre-booking recommended. (Max of 2 adults per child)

Creepy Crafts
Hands-on creepy craft activities will take place daily. Drop in sessions will run from 10.30am - 12.30pm and 1pm—3pm £4 per child. No need to book. 

Self -Guided Halloween Garden Trail
If you would prefer to tour the gardens at your own leisure, why not purchase a Halloween Trail sheet? Sheets cost £1. Garden admission is charged, Adults £8.50, children free.

Loathsome Lanterns
Bring along your own carved lantern, be it pumpkin, turnip, squash or marrow and take part in the competition. Judging daily at 12.15pm and 3.15pm.


Thursday 26th – Tuesday 31st October – Halloween Week at Muncaster Castle

It's Muncaster Castle's biggest event of the year! Dare you visit one of Britain's most haunted castles this Halloween Week?

Please allow plenty of time to arrive, park and make your way into the gardens, particularly if you have booked a timed show. There may be queues for some activities on the more popular days. Arrive early to have best chance of doing everything. Don’t forget to come in fancy dress and a TORCH would be a smart idea if you’re here after dark.

Our famous fireworks will be on Sunday 30th (included with general entry tickets). On the other five evenings (NB NOT Sun 30th), see the Hawk & Owl Centre’s fantastic Twilight Owls display when our falconers fly a selection of our beautiful owls in the gardens after dark in low-level lighting and with atmospheric music. Starting promptly at 7pm, the display lasts approximately 30 minutes (tickets required). 

The Muncaster Monster Cabaret with continuous entertainment including conjuring and comedy, aerialist shows, fire eating and more!

The Scary Maze (not recommended for under 12s particularly in the evenings), the Cannon ‘firing’ at 6pm with Foppletwig the Genie-hunter, the Ghostly Grotto with spooky crafts, face-painting and spell and potion-making with the Black Monk and lots more, all included in General Entry ticket prices.

A great Halloween event for the kids, featuring:

Apple bobbing, spooky games, glitter tattoos, Paul's Puppets, and prize for the best fancy dress costume.

Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th October - Halloween Spooky Fun at Millerbeck Light Railway

Beware! There'll be spooks, ghosts and ghouls about! 

Trains running 11.00 - 16.00.

Running a selection of steam, diesel and electric in this beautiful Lakeland setting.

Free parking. No pre-booking necessary.

£2.50 per ride for adults and £1.50 per ride for children.

Tea, coffee and ice creams available to purchase.

Tuesday 31st October – Halloween Candlelit Walk

Ulverston's Candlelit Walk returns to Ford Park this Halloween (Tuesday, October 31) embracing all things mystical with the theme 'The Third Eye'.

Experience the magical sight of 500 candles lighting the park with flickering shadow shows, peepy eye baubles, a fortune teller, live music, storytelling and a Brains Banquet. Path lit 6 - 8.30pm.
