Ulverstem gives 6 – 16 year olds the chance to discover more about the opportunities to be gained from studying the STEM subjects; Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
This free event takes place on Saturday 10th November between 10am – 3pm and showcases Ulverston’s world- leading technologies with the aim of inspiring the next generation
The day will be full of enjoyable, interactive activities such as Sci-Fi Ulverston Challenge, Virtual Welder, Bust the Bobby, Steam Time Machine, Mine Challenge and Edible Insects.
There’s also the chance to meet local employers offering careers linked to STEM including the likes of Bender UK, Siemens, GSK, Oxley Developments and Chris Brammall.
Cumbria does suffer from a skills shortage, particularly in science, technology, engineering and maths. Ulverstem will highlight how these subjects are relevant in the ‘real world’ and how important these skills are to local businesses.
Giving youngsters the chance to get involved with fun challenges, whilst finding out more about the world- leading technological companies on their doorstep is vital in bringing the next generation of highly skilled local people into these industries.
