Time to think about warmer weather and spring cleaning!

Spring is in the air, although you probably wouldn't think it with the current weather.  Clocks go forward at the end of the month and this makes for lighter evenings and hopefully warmer weather.  Time to get your home in shape for the warmer months and Spring Clean!

Spring Cleaning is the practice of thoroughly cleaning a house in the springtime. The practice of spring cleaning is especially prevalent in climates with a cold winter.  The most common usage of spring cleaning refers to the yearly act of cleaning a house from top to bottom which would take place in the first warm days of the year typically in spring, hence the name.

So here at Thebestof Barnstaple we have a few ideas on where to get started and how you can turn that accumulated mess into cash towards a treat (which you will deserve after a big clean)!

So 'Where do we start?', we hear you cry!  Other than the obvious, hoovering, polishing, dusting and the like we have a few other things we think could have been neglected a little over the winter months, such as:

Carpets - why not give them a good clean or steam? They'll look     good as new and you'll feel that you are living in a new house

Upholstery - furniture, especially sofas and chairs can get a whole new lease of life with a good clean or steam or even go a step further and re-upholster to give your furniture a whole new look!

Cupboards - It's amazing the amount of dirt that can accumulate on top of your cupboards.  Why not get your step ladder out of the shed and give the tops of your cupboards a good scrub?  Also, don't forget to have a good sort out and see what hidden treasures you can find.

Windows - Often forgotten during the winter, windows become very grubby - those of you with small children and pets will know this very well - so a good clean inside and out with hot soapy water will give you a whole new outlook on the outside world!

Decking - Get out in the fresh air and give your patio or decking a good pressure wash or a good hose down!  You'll have your outside areas ready for those family barbeques or your outside furniture in no time at all.

Gutters - Another one of those jobs you can only do at a warmer time of the year.  Gutters fill with leaves and debris and often get blocked, so give them a good clean out and ensure your home stays water tight and that rain water goes where it needs too, especially into water butts, ready to water those spring and summer flowers!

So, after those few ideas on where to start with the bigger jobs, we at the Thebestof Barnstaple want you to be able to treat yourselves, so all that unwanted treasure you have found under the sofas or in the cupboards or anywhere else for that matter, can be turned into cash!
