A new defibrillator has popped up in Barnstaple’s Pannier market. It is great that it is centrally located, should it be needed, if anyone experiences a funny turn in Barnstaple’s town centre. They have also commandeered old and unused phone boxes. Often they are put up in remote rural areas with the intention of being able to be accessed before paramedics or medical assistance can arrive.
We want to you to tell us if there is one in your village or town. From Muddiford to High Bickington, Bratton Fleming to Knowle, the more towns you tell us about the more people we can inform.
The hope is that every local resident will be able to find their nearest machine in an emergency and save lives. That life may be your friends, your mum or your next door neighbour. We know there is one in Pilton, so it is irrelevant how close to North Devon District hospital you are.
Here is a list of defib machines we've been told about:
What is important is the speed in which you start medical treatment. If you start CPR as soon as possible and have the defibrillator brought in as extra help, you stand a much greater chance of reviving the person.
So North Devon, lets hear from you – where are the defibs hiding near you?
