Research into Dementia has revealed that sufferers can continue to live independently in their communities for longer, doing many of the things they have always enjoyed, if they have a helping hand and more people who understand dementia.

Fortunately Project Dance Devon can help.  This wonderful organisation who have dance classes all over North Devon are Dementia Friends and are specially trained to give extra care and attention to those battling the condition.

Dementia can develop and affect an individual very personally. Everyone experiences dementia in their own way and different types of dementia can also affect people differently.  Symptoms can include:

  • Memory loss,
  • Difficulty thinking things through and planning,
  • Problems communicating,
  • Being confused about time or place,
  • Sight and visual difficulties,
  • Mood changes or difficulties controlling emotions.

A Dementia Friendly Community such as those at Project Dance can empower those with the condition to meet their goals and aspirations and to feel confident, knowing they can contribute and participate in activities that are meaningful to them.

So, if you know someone with dementia get them dancing their troubles away and give Karen a call on: 01271 308107.
