We went to watch Barnstaple Rugby 1st team today at home, they were playing Exmouth in an important gane for them as they are trying to escape the relegation zone.
In windy conditions that would have tested the most experienced players they played into the wind in the first half and managed to control a few early breaks by the opposition. Descent from an Exmouth player put him in the sin bin for 10 minutes and Barum scored a nice try and converted to win the first half 13 - 0.
Barnstaple's only points in the 2nd half came from a penalty and in the last 20 minutes they let in 2 tries from a much more persistant and challenging oppo, compared to the first half. Exmouth closed the gap to 16 - 12.
The referee was pretty inconsistent in his application of the offside rule and the crowd were very relieved when the final whistle blew giving Barnstaple a much needed win and Exmouth a miserable journey home.
I'm Sarah and I live just outside Barnstaple near Umberleigh.
