We are all familiar with the phrase "a dog is for life not just for Christmas", yet despite campaigns from multiple pet rescue charities, every year in the months after Christmas they receive a surge in stray and unwanted pets. Many rescue centres have reached crisis point being overwhelmed with the number of animals dumped every year and despite everyone's best efforts, not every pet will find a new loving home to go to.
