If you want to avoid living in an igloo this Winter, now's the time to sort out any issues you may have with your home. We've compiled a check list to make sure you're kept cosy this Winter.

With the cold weather setting in, it's important to check our homes and properties to help stop the predicted harsh weather from taking its toll on our buildings, heating and maintenance bills.
Properties are vulnerable to attack both from the outside elements and the moist, warm conditions that build-up inside during the winter months, so now is an ideal opportunity to prepare!

If you have an issue that you've been putting off for a while, now's the time to get it sorted. To avoid any unexpected problems this winter, it's advisable to have a professional check your whole house. Better safe than sorry!

Here's the entire list of what ideally needs to be checked in and around your home:

  • Roof
  • Loft
  • Gutters and drains
  • Walls
  • External paving
  • Decking
  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Floors
  • Chimney
  • Boilers

While many of these areas can be undertaken safely in the home, it is important that people seek the advice of reputable professionals when looking to complete larger jobs.

If you find you do need a professional, Lighthouse Surveyors are local to Wimbledon and Merton and have been dealing with all kinds of properties for over 15 years.

They are extremely proud of their customer service and promise to:

  • Answer as many questions as you have until you are a happy to make a decision on your purchase.
  • Always phone from the property after the survey to give you a comprehensive debrief.
  • Recommend you meet them at the property after the survey for a face to face review of their findings.

Hopefully your house is in tip-top condition and doesn't need any work at all, however if you do find yourself in a pickle or have been promising to fix the dodgy roof all summer, now's definitely the time!
