Cancer. Everyone's aware of it, we all know it has no mercy and anyone can be diagnosed. We aren't going to scaremonger you, because we know that you're well aware of the unfortunate facts about cancer.

And why are you aware? Because it's a rarity to NOT be affected by the disease in some way, shape or form. Maybe you know a friend, family member or neighbour who's been diagnosed? Maybe you've been diagnosed yourself?

These days, more people are beating cancer than dying from it. This is GREAT news that we'd like to relish in and spread the word as far as we can.

But not everyone is so lucky. And this is why it's SO important that people all over the world continue to fundraise to help find a cure. It's time to kill cancer.

Andrew Morton of Andrew Morton Furniture, a well respected local bespoke furniture maker in Wimbledon, has been affected by cancer. In 2010, his daughter Babette was diagnosed with leukaemia.

This is a horrifying reminder that cancer can strike even the purest and youngest of lives.

A quick diagnosis and after two years of treatment, Babette has beaten cancer. She is four years clear and Andrew and family are so grateful that she hasn't relapsed.

Andrew says, "As a parent this makes me feel so lucky and humble... What can I do? Nothing other than ask my friends and colleges, to support the ongoing world class work that the Marsden do for all the world. Please help me put back what I have taken from the service."

Andrew has chosen a particularly crazy way to raise money - he's not going to shave for a whole year. He's definitely taken "Movember" to a whole new level! He states "I may well look like a stinky man at the end of it... but it will show that I'm committed to my daughter and grateful for the new life that she has been given."

If you've been touched by cancer, you'll understand how important research is to finding a cure. Please dig deep and donate whatever you can to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Andrew's efforts.
