The events in Warwick are coming thick and fast at the moment! Last weekend saw the Warwick Lions Beer Festival on the Friday & Saturday, followed by the Thai Festival on Sunday organised by Rotary Club, Warwick. Despite the fact I didn't win the amazing raffle prize of 2 tickets to Thailand & our getting caught in a big rain shower, I really enjoyed Warwick Thai Festival & would whole heartedly recommend it to those who missed it.
This weekend is another busy one with the 30th Anniversary of Warwick Folk Festival. As well as events at Bridge House Theatre, Warwick (see event info here) and around the town, a special mention also goes to to the "Fresh Picked & Home Grown" event taking place in Warwick's Market Place on Sunday (26th July) between 1pm and 8pm. Having seen quite a few of the acts before I can say that the quality looks really high, and its great that they're all from the local area too.
Saturday sees the excellent Street Party in Smith Street which always has a great atmosphere with street stalls, craft market and the whole street shut off to traffic. This year will see restaurants putting tables in the street to extend the event until around 10pm. It starts at 1pm and will also have the Folk Festival Procession going through at 3pm & buskers performing in the street between 1pm and 5pm.
The weekend following (sat 1st August) sees Warwick's biggest and best event featuring local bands & acts- GW Fest in the lovely gardens of The Great Western on Coventry Road. Previous events have raised a staggering combined total of nearly £20,000 for local charities & this year looks set to do the same. Proceeds will go to Warwickshire Air Ambulance. The event will run all day long and into the night & Tickets are now on sale at The Great Western in Warwick for £12.50 each. http://www.gwfest.co.uk/
