Tucked away in West Bromwich and sitting on the corner of a quiet back street sits a small pub. It looks nothing from the front, its small and old, but step inside and you will be rewarded for your endeavor. At first glance the pub looks to be a typical old back street boozer, but as you step inside it just goes on and on, till eventually you reach a fully equipped barbecue area.
To reach the barbecue you will need to pass a fully stocked bar where friendly staff are able to offer first class ales - very nice too. By then you will also have noticed a range of blackboards listing an mouthwatering range of Indian dishes.
I had the goat curry with rice. Generous portions and a taste than will definitely need to be experienced again in the very near future.
Well worth a visit and not too hard on the pocket, but please leave some for me...

We've eaten here alot over the years most of the staff are friendly but it wouldn't hurt the owner to smile or say hello to customers:) we've tried curries & BBQ both are very good! it gets very busy weekends so if there's a party going I'd recommend booking, I can see how people that haven't been before get confused what you can order at bar or BBQ but once you've been u'l keep wanting to go & it isn't rocket science to order BBQ, chips or nan at the BBQ everything else at the bar.

I've been meaning to eat here for ages. A friend of mine has recommended it many times, & he's not the easiest to please.
Finally made it tonight, & what a treat. It's a cross between a cafeteria, a pub, & an Indian.
The food is super tasty, the service is quick, & the prices are very fair. I will be back.

been a long standing favourite - especially when the kids were littel. Anyway, we hadn't been for a good while so thought we'd drive over (about 40 mins away by car).
Wow! It's been done out at the BBQ end - very nice, same old favourites available plus the usual curries from the kitchen. A good evening, reminiscent of the good ol' days when we were up here a couple of times a month for any occasion with all our mates - in those days there was always an average of about 10 of us though often up to double that! We probably drank too much and made a tad of a nuiscance of ourselves... now we are all much (much) older with grown up kids of our own...
Still, brought back great memories and food just as we remembered.

This has to be one of the best places to eat in the West Midlands. Visitors are always surprised at what they find here. One of the most amusing aspects of eating at the Vine is watching peoples faces as they see what appears to be a fairly normal looking British Pub and what they find after stepping into the tardis.
This really is an experience. With a very comprehensive menu and friendly staff it is always a pleasure to eat out here. The food is without doubt very well presented and a real culinary delight. The chefs here definately know their food.
Now the Vine is not your branded posh high street restaurant. Far from it. If anything it is a bit rustic but then that only adds to the pleasure and the atmosphere of the establishment. When it comes to value for money The Vine excels again. It really is very good value for money.
I would definately recommend this restaurant. If you live in the West Midlands or are visiting the area you have to visit the Vine. This is as good as it gets!

One of my favourite places to visit a good meal with a pint...
A pub with a twist.
The food is cheap but really good quality - beats a lot of those fancy expensive restaurants out there. The menu has a lot of choice to offer, the service is quick and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

After being recommended to eat here by many of my family and friends I decided to try it out. I have got to say I was not disappointed! The indoor bbq was beautiful, the kebabs were full of flavour and spicy which is what I love. We ordered two curries between us with naans, rice and chips, perhaps we went a little overboard... wish I had enough room to eat it all it was so delicious. My boyfriend is a massive fan of indian food and he was so impressed by the place, saying it was one of the very best. I can't wait to come and dine here again, it's so cheap for the quality of the food I haven't really got an excuse!

Went as a party of 16 on Thursday evening, hadn't been in years. Not sure why as food was excellent and very good value for money. I do agree with another reviewer, that the plates could be a bit larger but not a major problem, and doesn't detract from the food! The BBQ was fab and the curry was really tasty[ had chicken taka tak]. Had 2 children with us and this wasn't a problem. Would defo recommend and will be going back very soon.

This pub is by far one of the best I have ever been in. The food is just out of this world with very generous portions. Best atmosphere is on a match day when Albion fans and opposing fans gather her for a pre-match beer, meal/BBQ. It's an added bonus that I only work around the corner so Friday lunchtimes are a must.
The only downfall, if you could call it that, is that this place is so popular that you sometimes struggle to find somewhere to sit. Being situated a stones throw from junction 1 of the M5 means that it's not hard to find so when you are next in West Brom or passing through on the M5 call in you won't regret it!

I first visited here in the mid-80s when it consisted of a pub with a few dry dishes being cooked over charcoal. Now, it's a proper pub restaurant with an indoor BBQ room.
The British-based North Indian style food is nice and inexpensive.
They usually have a couple of quaffable guest ales on tap from micro breweries.
Avoid when the local Wendyball team is playing at home because it gets extremely busy and you won't get a seat.

We didn't realise how long it had been since we had last visited the Vine. It was so nice to find the same landlord and some of the same staff. We were made to feel very welcome, and it was good to see that the barbecue room had been improved and extended without changing the wonderful atmosphere. The food was excellent, the best curry we have both had for a long time. The staff were lovely, and the food such great value and so much choice. I don't think it will be long before we return but with the rest of the family and friends next time.

The staff are so friendly and helpful, it's just a great place to eat. Good beer too! The service was very quick too - even on a Saturday night :-)

The vine is one of the most underrated curry houses/pubs in Birmingham, hands down. Lovely curry always very consistent and not greasy in any way shape or form, unlike many imitations... Get yourself down to the vine and trust me you will be back....

The Vine is a bit outside my usual naan dipping territory but our curry club decided to give this much vaunted venue a whirl so I made the trip across the City full of anticipation. From the outside a typical Black Country watering hole but inside it's the size of the Taj Mahal. There's even a barbecue room with a giant screen for sporting events. As the saying goes,'if Carlsberg did curries.......'
There's a great choice of both starters and mains and ,instead of going for their barbecue,in fairness probably their speciality, I decide to go for a curry. I fancied the goat but wimped out when I was told it was on the bone or should that be hoof?. Instead I went for the Lamb Methi with Roti and a starter of Onion Bhaji....with a Banks Mild Shandy to wash it down as I was driving. The good news is that the portions were very substantial with the curry served up in a crock 'lasagne style' pot and prices at around £6 for a main were competitive. My starter was freshly made but,in honesty the copious patties of bhaji were on the stodgy side. However the main curry more than made up for it with tender lamb in a thick sauce with a veritable explosion of fenugreek. Rotis were up to scratch with one of our other party, incidentally, having a memorable chilli paneer.....turning the normally innocuous and bland paneer cheese into a mature cheddar category,,,definitely a real hit to the palate.
Overall a very good meal although the very friendly and quick service was bizarrely provided by staff who obviously didn't know their curry from cottage pie. Some in house training from the kitchen wouldn't go amiss but maybe with its popularity , the curry 'knowledge' isn't a priority.

I have been going for years to the Vine and it justs gets better. So the prices have gone up but just look at the upgrade the place has had.
Value for money it can't be beaten. Suki sits there and checks everything is going well and walks about. Do you really think because you spend a little money the man should come and chat when sometimes it is heaving with people? Would you expect him to remember everyones name too.I know for a fact he pays well otherwise there would not be the staff for years. Carry on the good work Suki but the loo needs an upgrade and a nice dyson hand drier and the door cleaning. Thanks.

Good rather excellent meal without any fuss. Kudos to the owners and management for delivering what they want. Two of us went for an evening meal and came back very very satisfied. Although seating is more like canteen but the food is good and worth every penny.
We had masala tikka, methi tikka and seekh kebab. Everything was delicious and rightly cooked. Naans were brilliant, food was quick and beer was good too. What more would you expect in a meal which just cost 15/- for two persons.
Highly recommended.

Been a regular for over 20 years but not for any longer. BBQ staff think that you are there for their benefit and treat you accordingly. As others have stated, your food is given to other customers with hardly an apology. Naan bread is often forgotten and a further wait has to be endured. Curries are good but you now have to pay extra for the rice. Naan breads have mysteriously shrunk in size, why??? Come on Suki you can afford it!!!!! Bar staff, especially the 2 lads and snotty younger girl, think that they are doing you a favour by serving you.. Hardly a smile or pleasantry passes their lips. Tables are cleaned by just wiping food scraps onto the floor for you to walk in. Owner Suki hardly if ever acknowledges his customers. However the food is good and the beer well kept. If you can ignore everything else you will enjoy. If you wish to be welcomed on arrival and during your visit, I suggest you visit The Sportsman, just up the road. They really know how to treat their customers. Good beer, food and a warm welcome awaits you there, also a lot cheaper but with a more basic menu. See you at The Sportsman. Cheers.

Looks like any other back street pub from the outside, as indeed it doubtlessly was at one time. But the curry-based menu is to die for. My two companions and I all had different curries which we shared and all of which were excellent. In particular, my chicken tikka masala was delicious, with just the right amount of kick to be interesting without being over-powering. Price of the meals and drinks was very reasonable and the service excellent. Only thing to bear in mind is, it is a fairly scruffy pub and not a restaurant, so it doesn't have up-market ambience nor is it the place for an intimate dinner for two. Otherwise, couldn't fault it.
