A good night guaranteed

Visited Oake Manor last night with family for the Pirate Spectacular and carvery.
Obviously a very popular event which seemed to attract the young and not so young.
The carvery was lovely, offering a large variety of vegetables and sauces.
The position of our table made it rather difficult to see the stage as we were at the far end of the room, the stage being in the middle.
However we all enjoyed the entertainment which seemed to be over far too soon.
I would love to attend further themed dinners in the future as it was amazing value for the amount we paid.

Only fools and three courses .. food was excellent. The entertainment was not bad. With good company and flowing alcohol a pleasant evening.
Then went again for the 80's night. I found it very crowded, food was not so good as previous. It wasn't bad, just served on mass! Although, It was reasonably priced for both entertainment and food so no complaints...

Excellent and varied choice. Extremely well priced (especially the 2 for 1 menu). Always a roast of the day. Highly attractive views. Well worth a visit.

We had been to Oake Manor for various events before but this was our first experience of their Sunday carvery. When we arrived, the place was very busy (obviously very popular) and extremely noisy. In fact the noise levels were rather overwhelming! We were shown to our table, and then sat there for at least 10 minutes wondering whether we were supposed to purchase drinks at the bar or whether someone would come over to the table to take an order. My partner eventually got up and asked one of the waitresses, who said to buy them at the bar, but before we could do that, another waitress came over to take an order for both drinks and any starters we required. It all seemed bit chaotic and disorganised to be honest! As regards to the food, we felt that the starters and desserts were of a much better standard than the carvery itself. I had creamy garlic mushrooms with garlic bread to start (as did several on our table) and they were very nice. And the creme brûlée I had for afters was delicious, and as good as I have ever had! My partner had the chocolate fudge cake which he also said was good. When it came to the main course, the meat was very nice and I at least was lucky enough to have been given a decent amount. Unfortunately my partner was not so lucky and was served a rather mean portion! Possibly, this was because he was in a different queue to the one I was in, as there were two people carving and serving meat from either end of the counter. This obviously leads to some inconsistency which seems unfair! We also felt that the roast potatoes, veg and yorkshire's etc were pretty mediocre. The potatoes were not crispy and were swimming in oil, and the roast parsnips were positively drowning in it! The cheese sauce that came with the cauliflower and broccoli was watery and completely tasteless! On the plus side, the vegetables (there was also cabbage and carrots) were not overcooked and were served al dente which we like. We had heard such good things about the carvery here and how good it was, and were looking forwards to trying it. But in the event it did not live up to expectations! We have had plenty of carvery's in the past and so are well able to compare one to another and this was by no means the best we've tried. We can't help wondering if it's reputation has grown to such an extent that it has got too busy and is now a victim of it's own success! Shan't be rushing back!

We attended a tribute evening and we delighted with everything. The staff were excellent, polite, and attentive; the food was delicious; the act and disco were very good and the atmosphere a joy. Thanks to everyone at Oake Manor we will definitely book again 😀

We paid £12 each to watch a fab drifter/motown show that included supper. The food was lovely and the show was great, all the singers were excellent. We went as a party of four and we all agreed what a great nights entertainment and very good value for money. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. Water jugs on table are refilled throughout the night and the bar prices are very reasonable. The onky criticism we had is that there is not much room between tables. Venue was packed with people and atmonsphere buzzing

We have been here on many occasions for Sunday carvery and tribute events.
Can not recommend it enough.
Food is exceptional and great value, and staff are so friendly, and couldn't do enough for you.
Recommend this place 100%.

I am told by members that this is a very nice course to play and a good , though apparently quite expensive club to join.
There are public footpaths across the course, which I have walked on numerous occasions and the course is always very attractive and appears to be very well kept.
In the clubhouse regular tribute evenings take place, with top class tribute acts appearing. Food and drink are always available in the clubhouse and the club is famous for its Sunday carvery, which is always a sell out. The carvery is also used for special occasions (Six weeks around Christmas) and for private functions.
Not the cheapest carvery, but always very good.

I can't comment on the golf. We visited in the evening for a meal and tribute band with friends. This was very good value indeed and the food is good. Well worth checking out their events to see if they are playing any of the music you like.

Second year running using Oak Manor for one our conferences venues.

Lovely friendly professional staff.

Excellent communication before event, tell them someone once and that's it you don't have to worry it will happen. Extremely good value for money on the day delegate rate. All our delegates said the food was great.

I deal will a lot of venues, hotels ect, this is the easiest one i deal with, could not recomend enough.

The course was amazing - however the weather was not. We were very surprised to find the course was open due to high winds and rain. We were on a golf tour so we went out being advised that when the rains abates the course drys quickly.

The course itself looked fabulous and I can imagine on a sunny day it would be a great challenge and fun to play. The rain however continued and we only managed to play until the course returned to the club house. No complaints though - we made the decision to go out when a refund was offered before we started.

The bar/restaurant was a little dated but was comfortable and the food was good. Would recommend.

Went here for lunch, midweek 2 for 1 ! Lovely setting, even though it was a dreary wet day. Service was top notch, good varied menu, and the food did not disappoint, came away thinking money was well worth spent. Absolutely recommended.

We always visit Oake Manor for large family gatherings when we are in the UK. On this occasion the venue was very busy and we had a short wait to be seated as we all wanted to sit together (15 of us). We received a very nice bottle of champagne from the Manager due to the short wait, most unexpected! The food was excellent, lots of choice and as always the carvers was beautiffuky laid out and very hot. A fantastic day with family and friends.

I attended a conference of the Somerset Dyslexia Association here which was extremely well organised and the restaurant and front of house staff provided an excellent venue with good food for a business conference.
