Really lovely garden to explore. It's just such a shame you can no longer enjoy picnics inside the grounds. Still great and will return.

Very pleasant place to spend time. House under restoration. Lovely landscaped gardens. Relaxed walk through wooded valley with lakes, points of interest and fine views. Muddy and slippery in places after rain, sturdy footwear needed. Good quality snacks and plant sales.

Beautiful landscape gardens - a less sophisticated version of Stourhead really, but without the crowds. Plus the beautiful Gertrude Jekyl formal garden. And both a very good cafe and excellent restaurant too. A really good day out.

It is with sadness that we came away from Hestercombe it wasn't what we thought it was. The garden's were not up to scratch possible due to Covid. Good signage on the woodland walk again a bit overgrown. Lots of toilet blocks. Long queue for drinks and the prices for the sandwiches was a bit steep and all the tables in the garden were occupied plenty of room for more tables and we paid £12:50 Per Person at the entrance.

Went there for a wedding. Was a lovely day and the staff were great. The ceremony was in the Orangery with all the windows and doors open so it was lovely and airy - virtually felt like it was outdoors. The food was top notch. There were lots of kids at the wedding and the venue catered for them really well. All this was mid-COVID too but they managed all of that really well (helped by the weather so lots of the day was outside!)

A really worthwhile trip. Plenty of acreage for a stroll in the woodland around the lake visiting the various construction and landmarks, followed by a visit to the house and various formal gardens. Coffee and cake at the café gardens to begin and a table booked at the Stables for lunchafe the perfect day. Staff & service good, menu & food very good. Well worth a day out!

We enjoyed walking through the woodland areas up to the lakes, it was nice and cool on a very hot day. The views from the top over the valley were really good. We didn't go into the house as we thought it might be hot, and in the afternoon there was a wedding so we couldn't anyway.

The formal gardens in front of the house are very nice, with water running through channels in a rather Arabesque way.

We visited today and had a great time. All the staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. The cafe sells the most amazing cakes and good coffee, we didn't try the restaurant as we took a picnic. The only downside was the picnic area as it was extremely hot when we visited and unfortunately there wasn't much shade (you can't just sit under a tree with a picnic blanket).

There are some lovely walks with the most amazing views and waterfalls. The kids really enjoyed playing in the stream and being able to cool down. Feeding the ducks and fish was a definite highlight (you can buy food for just 20p a bag). We will definitely visit again and hope to find the playground on our next visit.

Vegan koftas were very nice and my friend had belly pork. A very tasty lunch. Thought the portion size was a little bit small for the cost but actually it didn't feel hungry afterwards.

Disappointing. Not enough colour in the gardens especially for July. Too much repetition of boring plants. The Stables restaurant is worth a visit though.

First time visiting Hestercombe and was not disappointed, such beautiful gardens and walks. We spend hours just taking in the scenery, I didn’t think I would enjoy it but it was such a lovely place and I would definitely come back.
