Families, friends, colleagues and supporters donned their purple t-shirts and illuminated the evening as they walked together in support of local hospice care.
A live band, a warm up, musicians and volunteers cheered on the hundreds of participants along the route.
Every pound generated from the night ensures that the hospice can continue supporting local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness.
The incredible turnout exceeded expectations and created a wonderful atmosphere, with participants of all ages taking part in the memorable evening.
Sam Colclough, Senior Events Officer at St Giles Hospice, said: “We were absolutely overwhelmed by the support for our very first Light the Night event. Seeing more than 500 people come together to celebrate, remember and support hospice care was truly inspiring. We’d like to thank everyone who took part, volunteered or helped make the evening such a success.”
Following the success of this year’s event, St Giles Hospice has confirmed that tickets for next year’s Light the Night are now available for an early bird rate of just £10, giving supporters the chance to secure their place early.
